As I was walking through Camping World the other day I noticed they had a 4 pack of TP that was biodegradable or something of the sort, but it was like 4 bucks for a 4 pack . My question is do you have to use that kind of TP in the camper toilet or is that just what they would like for you to use to be earth friendly? We go through a BUNCH of TP and I would hate to think it was going to cost that much per roll!!!

We use Scot toilet paper, same as home. It's not so much as earth friendly as it is holding tank friendly (or septic system at home). Clogs are no fun.

Walmart has RV toilet paper. I got 4 rolls in a pack for like $1.39.

We use the RV paper from Walmart. To cut down on toilet paper use (and the grossness factor of emptying the black water tank), we also have in place the "no solids down the RV toilet" rule. It is much easier and more pleasant to use the comfort station for #2, and saves on the RV toilet paper.

That's a good idea.

At Knoebels, our campsite is directly across from the bathroom anyway. This will be the first time camping with a bathroom for us. We had a pop-up. I will like having a personal shower.

Anyway, get the toilet paper at walmart. Much cheaper. I'm so jealous that you have a Camping World near you. I was just looking on their website now for some kind of awning hooks but hate to pay shipping on such a small item.

Good idea, it might work with DH since he is so tall (6'5") his legs may not fit comfortably sitting on the pot. :rotfl:

I will go to Wally World for my TP, thanks a bunch!!!

If my DH made that rule in our camper, he would be camping by himself!!!!! That's why we purchased a fifth wheel, so we wouldn't have to go to the comfort station to use the bathroom. :sad2: :sad2:

We just use Scott. We have only been RV'n for 5 years but we spend 5 months each year in the MH. We have never had a problem, just use PLENTY OF WATER.
There is a simple paper test. Take one sheet in a glass of water. Cover it with your hand and shake it. If it disovles your good.
We bought an RV to have our own bed and toilet; so we use it.

I second this!

That is the only reason we purchased ours too - the bathroom.

We always keep the valve closed until it is full and then dump and like Cousin Ed says, lots of water!!!

:tink:

Don't waste your money on RV Toilet Paper. Scott is just as good and much cheaper.

As mentioned, plenty of water when flushing bowl and dump tank when it is between 3/4 and full.

We have been RVing since early '80s and Scott is our choice for motorhome and stationary home.

I'm new to Rving so I buy the RV toliet paper. My only advice is to bring plenty... it's really expensive at the Trading Post. I perfer to use the comfort station as well. Less hassle.

I buy the RV tp from camping World and its cheaper than at my Wal-Mart. We honestly don't go through much at all, just like normal (or less) it seems. Some people in my family only do certain things at home, so the tp doesn't get used as much while camping. LOL

can't emphasize enough, keep water in the tank, empty when full or done for the trip, rinse or backfill the tank to flush then add a few gallons, keep the valve closed until its time to dump. you will find the grey water tank fills up much quicker than the black tank, empty the black tank then the grey tank, this helps to rinse / flush the stinky slinky (sewer hose)

Yeah, using the bathroom will be all new to us. I sure home DH understands what and how to do it...

We purchase ours, also at Walmart. My DH insist on using the RV type. Should cause less clogs, hopefully for the sensors in the tank. :)

Any TP safe for septic is safe for your rig----you can test any brand just by placing a few sheets in a glass of water and seeing if they break up after awhile---also when you dump your tank before you head for home --dump a bag of ice into your tank thru the toilet---scrapes the tank nicely as you drive and turns quickly into water

Good Idea about the ice...never would have thought of that!!!

Is there a website that lists how you set everything up and drain everything? I'm sure DH knows what he's doing but I'd love to read it just for my sake as well.

Also regarding winterizing your unit...

I agree with your winterizing idea...not sure DH would agree. I'm always cold to begin with so you can imagine what I'm like during the winter.

Here's an idea - I have an electric blanket: on my bed, on the couch, in the car and now one in the camper (just incase).
