My hubby toes on his left legs are falling asleep. He has been tested for diabetes that has been ruled out. Anyone idea what could be causing this?

Didn't the dr do further testing for other causes:confused3

I would suggest looking toward the spine and a pinched nerve somewhere.

Stupid question: Does this happen when he is barefoot or only with shoes on? Maybe his shoes are too tight. I know when I put on my running shoes they feel fine at first then my toes get tingly. At that point I know my shoes are slighly too tight and have to loosen them.

No, that not a stupid question We were thinking the same thing it could be his shoes. So he has stopped wearing his shoes inside. It still is happening.

Numbness of the toes generally is a result of conditions that affect the nerves and/or blood vessels that supply the foot.

A Neurologist evaluation would be a good place to start.

It could also be unrelated. But ruling out the nerves and spine is a good idea.

I had numbness and tingling for years - toes, foot, thigh. It was spine related.

Mine was spine related as well. I would see a doctor. :thumbsup2

I look forward to hearing about the results. My DBF suffers from similar symptoms, but he's too stubborn to go to the doctor. :confused3

Best of luck!

I went through that... Turned out I had a variant of Guillain Barre Syndrome. Another possibility is B12 deficiency. In my case I had extremely low B12 stores as well which aggravated the demylination of my nerves.

Start w/ blood work. Make them check his B12 and other vitamin levels. Even if he's normal, find out if he's at the low end of the scale. "Normal" is relative.
