My DD has two kinds of water bottles, one has a straw inside and the other is glass. She's 2 and doesn't drink neatly from an open top water bottle. Would I be able to bring either of her regular water bottles into Animal Kingdom?

Right, but straws are also not allowed so I'm not sure what DD is going to drink out of in the park.

Not sure if it will help but we used to punch a hole in the lid of a water bottle. Our son was able to not make a huge mess this way. We would reuse the lid with a hole in it so we weren't making new ones all the time and we could re cap the bottle if we had to.

That's a good idea, thanks! Did you use a hole punch to do it?

They do have straws in the Animal Kingdom, they are just made out of paper. Would one of those work?

That would probably work and I just wouldn't bring one of her bottles. If I did bring her plastic bottle, would they allow the plastic (hard, not flexible) straw that is inside it?

I swear when DD was 18 mths we went to AK and she had a water bottle where the short straw flipped up & was attached. And I it was Tinker Bell one from the Disney Store with a strap.

My understanding is that they do not allow "regular" straws in AK because they blow around and are a potential danger to the animals. By regular, I mean the type of straws that are plastic that come out of the straw dispenser. In AK, they are made of paper because after being wet for a while they will simply fall apart and are no longer a danger to the animals.

The type of straw you are referring to (I believe) is the hard plastic, maybe corrugated, bendable type straw that is attached in the cup. They are not disposable and would not just fall out of the cup or blow away. Hence, they pose no threat to the animals/birds.

Perfect, thank you!

They might not give out plastic straws, but I've never heard of them confiscating any. We had juice boxes with those little plastic straws, and I had some of my own bendy plastic straws in our bag. No one said anything to me about them.

I have heard of them taking the little juice box straws. So I would be prepared to have to make due without them. They are technically against the rules, so you can't be sure you will be allowed to take them in.

They don't allow plastic straws that you are going to throw away. I reusable plastic straw in a kid's cup is totally different. I don't think you would have a problem with that.
