Toddler sleeping arrangements in 1 bedroom

Just want to add my additional thoughts on toddlers in the separate area of a 1 br villa. We had one child (out of 3) that we just didn't trust to be near the kitchen stove or the outside door during the night. Very inquisitive and a little houdini. We had an alarm system at home that would alert us if he got out of his bedroom at night. Some kids are fine and are so completely zonked out after a day in the parks that they don't wake up in the night but others are not. A blow-up mattress in the master bedroom somewhere was our best solution.

Every family is different and that was the best solution for us. I'm loving all of the options presented!
Yes! This sounds exactly like our guy. Sounds like we might have to look into the blow up mattress.

Our firstborn slept in the bedroom with us. He was very tall, but could manage diagonal in the pack and play just fine at that age. It was safer and he slept better if we could cover the sides (he has autism and needed a dark room). I couldn't trust that he wouldn't try to go on the balcony or out the front door. When our second was born, me and her slept in the bedroom and my oldest and husband slept in the family room. Everyone slept better. We pull off the couch cushions and cover them with an extra set of of sheets/blanket to make a little bed when needed. My 5'4" 11 year old daughter will still sleep on couch cushions while my 6'3" son sleeps on the pull outs in 1 bedroom villas without the extra single beds.

A blow up mattress is a good idea! Hadn’t considered that!
Get a flocked top or try it out before you go to be sure it doesn’t make that hideous plastic rubbing sound when you move on it. You don’t want your child (or you!) waking up in the middle of the night from the sound. You might need to get a mattress cover to take with you. We also used a toddler sized mattress instead of the longer, regular sized. Made a world of difference where we could put it in different hotel rooms. We used it for 2 of our 3 kids for several years.

I remember that time period! Too big for the pack n play, but nervous about putting them alone in another room. I think some hotels had bed rails that you could borrow, but that doesn't help with the wandering issue (we also worried about this). Sounds as though a blow up mattress in the closet (door open) is a good solution. Alternatively, can the mattress be removed from the murphy bed and put in your room/in the closet? Or is it non-removable and/or too big?

Hello! I’m just curious, for those with very small children who book 1 bedrooms, where do you have your child sleep? We have a 2.5 year old (will be nearly 3 when we go) and he is getting big for a pack and play but I don’t know that I’m comfortable having him sleep on a Murphy bed alone in the kitchen/living area. Maybe studios are better with small children but then there is the issue of not having a kitchen.
At that age, mine slept in the bed with us
