DD is starting to climb out of her crib when she is done sleeping. I know it is time for a big girl bed. The toddler beds are less expensive, but they will only last a short time before she outgrows it, plus you need to buy special size sheets.
The twin bed will last until it wears out, but is more expensive.

Any ideas?

GO for the twin!
We bought DS the 'Race Car Bed' (not really less expensive!) and it didn't last long at all!
(especially since I didn't want to bu yANOTHER mattress for the crib (fir his little sister) - and it is the same matress therefore the same sheets fyi

I got a twin bed mattress and put it on the floor. We bought the other pieces of the bed and built it taller as the kids got older. IMO Toddler beds are totally unnecessary -just something you buy if you want the cute factor - kind of like race car beds, etc.

We bought a toddler bed for our youngest because of space issues in our house. My 4 kids share 3 bedrooms and youngest shares with his older brother. We didn't want to put them in bunk beds at that time so bought the toddler bed. If you don't have an issue like this I would go straight to the twin bed. Just use a railing so she doesn't fall out.

You can still use crib size sheets on the toddler bed because you can still use your crib mattress.

we went with a twin bed with our 3 year old (back when he was 2) and will do the same with the twins when they are ready. started with the mattress on the floor, then eventually added the boxspring, then eventually the frame. worked perfectly.

I must have been a spoiled child...I went from Crib to Full size bed. heheh

sadly - I still HAVE that full size mattress too...it's in our guest room. heheheh

We were going to get the twin but when we saw how cheap the toddler bed was (about $30) we went with that for a while. Used the crib mattress and sheets. When she outgrew that, we sold it at our yard sale for about $20. Then we got the twin. Now she has a loft bed since she was 6.

I vote for twin also. I did the racecar bed with oldest DS and it is cute for the year, year and half you use it, but really it's a waste of money. With DD when she climbed out the first time, I went and ordered her a twin bed and bought a rail to keep her in it. That was almost 5 years ago and I still love that bed! :goodvibes

Twin. My 15 month old sleeps on a twin mattress on the floor. My older son did too until he was about 2-1/2. That's when we set up the regular full-size bed for him. If you ask me, toddler beds are a waste of money.

Twin w/ a rail. Lastr much longer unless you do the yardsale thing and sell the toddler bed when you are done. I just hate having to store stuff.

Thanks! I was leaning toward thw twin and putting the mattress on the floor.

DD is supposed to be napping, but has crawled out of bed 3 times and is upstairs playing in her room.
