Toddler at After Hours Event?

DD has been going to MVMCP or MNSSHP since she was 2. It has always been the highlight of our trip. She was closer to 3 than 2 on her first party night and it was MVMCP (she was scared of Halloween stuff as a toddler). I wouldn't think about trick or treating at the party at that age--- it is basically just a long line where they throw candy into your bag as you go by. I think your time would be better spent doing other things. (Disneyland has characters on the trick or treat trails-- but unless they change something at WDW it does not). We even went to the parks during the day on party days- she would just stroller nap and did well with that.

My DD loved all the characters as a toddler/pre-schooler- that is where most of our party time was spent. Age 2, she did nap in the stroller some as it got later in the evening. I remember that we were there on an extremely crowded night when she was 2 and tried to get a spot for the first parade an hour ahead of time and could not find a good spot. We decided to give it up and do the second parade. She fell asleep in her stroller before the parade as we waited for it--- we woke her up when it got close and she got excited by it and was dancing around (again Christmas party- she would not have liked the Halloween parade at that age)- and then after it was over, she was asleep in her stroller again before we got out the gate and we watched the parade by the Emporium so that tells you how quick she was out cold. By the next year at age 3, we were dragging her off the Barnstormer at 11:45 with her screaming for one more time (don't feel sorry for her-- she had ridden it 14 times in a row without having to get off as there was no line--- I gave up after 11 and DH couldn't make it past 14).
Yeah so far my daughter does not seemed scared of that stuff but who knows in the future. Sounds like you had a great time and will take the candy tip probably. Not like she really eats candy. ha but we may want some

Well-- then I have another tip! We found that as it got later the candy lines thinned out and unless something is different this year, they didn't run out of candy. There could be really long lines early in the party, and then after about 10:00, a lot of them you could just quickly walk though. You might keep an eye on the early party reports to see if anything has changed - but if the adults are trick or treating, that used to be the way to go.

We did have a great time! It can definitely be done with a toddler! The toddler and pre-school trips were my favorite -everything is new and magical to them! If she falls asleep in the stroller, just roll her around and continue having a good time! I definitely remember doing that one year during EPCOT evening EMH which was until 11:00 p.m. or 12:00 am. (DH and I have a photopass photo with us happily holding up drinks from Le Vin de Chef de France with a sleeping toddler in a stroller between us. LOL).

Yeah I am so glad we went ahead and came with her as a little baby and each time she has became more aware. She was truly so happy to see Pooh at Epcot last time. She now gets all happy when she hears Moana at Target in the toys area. Should be fun to watch her get all excited. I am okay to admit that is my favorite part (watching her for reactions - even if all memories do not stay).

we used to take our son every year from age 2 or 3 and he loved it. He didn’t always stay up the full time but we have fabulous memories. He’s 13 now and baseball gets in the way a lot so we aren’t there as frequently anymore. We took our daughter when she was 3 and are taking her again this year at age 6. It’s one of our families favorite events at Disney.
