Todd & Nicki, a belated Valentine's present...weekend at Disney!

I used to LOVE the cinnamon buns at MSB. Why do the people in charge of food service think their guests will settle for crappy, dried out pastries? I wonder if you can ask for one that's hot and fresh from the back?

Yay! I love your reviews, Nicki! I'm glad to hear a little about your stay at the Dolphin, too! I would love my DH to take me using his Starwood Pts.!

So glad your nachos were good~ we LOVE them, but the last time we had them they were stale. Glad to hear it just must have been an off day rather than they've gone downhill.

We love Tangerine Cafe too and somehow I've missed the olive salad...goes on the list for next time! :goodvibes

I agree with everyone else, how sad about the MSB Cinnamon rolls...they WERE the BEST! But the last time we had them they were horrible too! Hopefully the egg and cheese croissant will stay yummy, it's one of our favs too!

Can't wait for the rest of your reviews! :yay:

So excited to read another MickyNicki review ! Oh I may be working at Le Cellier in a few months I find out next month! If i do you guys have to come and see me! :)

I have to say that Taco salad looks awesome but I think its more the cheese and I'm a cheeeeeeese fiend!

Leaving MK was hard, I wanted to spend more time there but we were lucky enough that we were able to ride almost everything before the wait time him the 90 minute + mark.

We were the only ones getting on a bus, everyone else was just pouring off of them. We had the entire BW/Swan/Dolphin bus to ourselves.

Back at the room I decided to get massages or facials from the Mandera Spa, they had great deals going on and a 20% off voucher as well. Unfortunately they didnt have any space for any service for Fri-Sunday...that was a bummer. Why offer such great deals and then not have the time to do them? I mean you are handing me this info when I checked in...why bother if you cannot fit me in?

So I was bummed and DH thought it would cheer me up to sit by the pool and have cocktails....yes I married a genius!

The Cabana Bar at the Dolphin pool is gorgeous, just like you would expect at any pool with sofas and nice chairs and comfy loungers, lots of fun music and a great bar :thumbsup2 It wasnt that busy and there were people around so it was just the right amount of busy.

I had the mango daquiri and Todd had a pina colada....the daquiri was excellent but his pina colada tasted like a slurpee so he exchanged it for the same drink I had.

FebDisneyTrip034.jpg

FebDisneyTrip033.jpg

Since it was warm and we were chatting we drank them fast and ordered round 2. It was middle of this round that I realized I skipped lunch! The appies on the menu didnt wow me and I didnt want to fill up as we were having dinner at the Yachtsman but as DH assured me that was hours away and he would help me eat my snack...of course you would dear....would not expect it any other way ;)

Again the menu was just eh, nothing jumped out and grabbed me and I saw the table next to me get chicken strips and they looked good so we had those.

FebDisneyTrip035.jpg

The honey mustard was basically regular yellow mustard. The chicken was tasteless...very tender and not greasy but no flavor at all so we salt and peppered it up.

FebDisneyTrip036.jpg

It came with a basket of waffle fries and these were GOOOOOOD! They were hot and crispy and tender and delish and not greasy at all..huge portion

By now I think it was 3pm and we were having a blast...on to round 3 of the drinks and at $11 a pop I was sure regretting it when the bill came! But we were just having too good a time and then something happened and we had to stay and watch, sorta like a car wreck....want to know what it was?? Ok I will tell ya!

There was a lot of families at the pool, they have a ping pong set, basketball, volleyball etc. Well 2 boys, big tall boys around 13 or 14 came to the bar for plastic cups of water. No big deal right? Well then they walked back to the pool and all of a sudden this small blond woman in a bikini has 2 boys with her and they are holding ping pong paddles, around 10 years old or so and much smaller than these other 2 older boys. She is yelling at the 2 older boys and sticking her finger in their faces and another smaller woman in a bathing suit is pulling her away from the older boys and trying to get in the middle of them.

So we are watching, as is everyone else in the place. We see a man comes up and stand next to the older boys. It is getting really heated and we can hear but not make out the words. The 2 younger kids are trying to get the blond woman to stop by pulling on her arm but that is not working at all. The blond woman makes a comment and starts to walk away when the one older boy throws his drink on her back! I swear to you if I didnt see it with my own eyes I wouldnt believe it.

The blond lady was in shock for a second and comes running into the bar screaming for security. The 2 older boys and what I assume are his parents are walking away. The bar manager comes running over with his radio and they go after the kids. All of a sudden all types of "suits" or managers are showing up and it is pandamonium

As we finish our drinks the bar manager tells our waitress that the 2 older boys were pushing the 2 younger boys around and trying to get them off the gaming table. The younger boys mother got involved and that was what the confrontation was about. I guess she called the older kids bullies and walked away and the one kid doused her with water.

The older kids parents never yelled at the kid that threw the water, that shocked me. They moved fast away from the pool area to the Swan but I think the security people found them as there were tons of witnesses and they could describe them

So we had drinks and a show! We paid the bill and went back to the room before something else happened.

Dinner at the Yachtsman....this was like pulling teeth to get DH back here again. Our last meal in 08 wasnt good and he was very reluctant but I was adament and showed him all the recent reviews that listed it as fantastic!

We caught the boat and went right to the YC. I tried to push the ressie back a bit but they said they couldnt do it. At 6:30 the place looked empty. They were seating walk ins but they were telling people if they wanted to come later there might not be any available seats. The remaining 2 hours we were there 1/3 of the place was empty.

We were seated immediately. Since we had a few at lunch we stuck to bottled water and ice tea.

The menu is exactly like the ones on WDW site so I didnt take pictures of that. I did take one of the cheese plate so I could remember what it was :rotfl:

FebDisneyTrip050.jpg

FebDisneyTrip042.jpg

I was a fan of the three cheeses to the left, didnt care for the blue cheese at all. DH enjoyed the two in the middle. These were served with french bread crisps

FebDisneyTrip043.jpg

Some rolls and butter and roasted garlic. DIVINE! All of it was to die for!

FebDisneyTrip040.jpg

FebDisneyTrip041.jpg

Do not ask me what came over me but I ordered the tomato salad. It was served with a tomato jelly that was to die for, a basil puree with a balsamic reduction, they salted and peppered the salad before it was presented to me and it was just perfect. Todd looked at me like I had three heads because I do not always eat tomatoes....that is his thing. He had that hangdog look on his face like, are you gonna share with me or what??

FebDisneyTrip045.jpg

FebDisneyTrip044.jpg

DH had the caesar salad and again it was seasoned before they brought it out except his had way too much salt and they had to redo it for him

FebDisneyTrip046.jpg

Another out of the norm, I ordered a NY Strip and Todd had the filet...it was like we switched bodies or something because we normally do not order like we did!

The NY Strip was ordered med rare and cooked perfectly. It was insanely huge and delish and tender and so full of flavor! I am so glad that I asked for the sauce on the side because the steak was able to stand on its own. The potatoes were ick, too much nutmeg for me.

FebDisneyTrip048.jpg

The filet was ordered med well (I know I know) and cooked perfectly for him. He devoured it and enjoyed the red wine sauce. The mashed potatoes were nothing exciting.

FebDisneyTrip047.jpg

On to coffee and dessert...here are the condiments...raw sugar cubes and the ice tea came with a sugar syrup, not something you see all the time.

FebDisneyTrip051.jpg

We decided to share the banana napoleon and wished we each had our own as it was amazing! Creamy and not too sweet and not overly banana and I do not like white chocolate but you could not even taste it in this dish. A total winner!

FebDisneyTrip053.jpg

Yes we thoroughly enjoyed our meal here and yes we will be back for sure!

After walking back to the resort we decided to rent a movie in our room and watched Due Date with Robert Downey Jr and that guy from the Hangover...OMG it is hysterical! Like Planes Trains and Automobiles but much funnier!

Wow, you've been busy writing reviews today

I love them :cool1:

Can't wait to read more, the friendly banter between you and Todd has me in fits of laughter :rotfl:

Nicki - Please continue the reviews! It's a snow day here, and I am dreaming of Disney.

I will do my best hon!

Great start Nicki !!!Now I love both egg rolls and nachos so those really appealed !!I did nt care for my chwarmie plate lat year !!The meat was dry and tasteless !!Maybe we hit a really bad day !!The olive sald and humus were however delish!! I think I'd go with the veggie plate next time !!!

Sometimes I think we hit places on an off day too...I almost had the veggie plate but the falafel is so much spicier than it used to be

Glad you are enjoying it!

I used to LOVE the cinnamon buns at MSB. Why do the people in charge of food service think their guests will settle for crappy, dried out pastries? I wonder if you can ask for one that's hot and fresh from the back?

I have no idea...I wish they would bring back the french toast loaf! Most of the pastries at the other CS places looked pretty bad as well.

I wish we had enough points for a free weekend, would love to go back for the flower and garden show.

I wish I had some of those nachos right now...just looking at them is making me hungry!

So excited to read another MickyNicki review ! Oh I may be working at Le Cellier in a few months I find out next month! If i do you guys have to come and see me! :)

I have to say that Taco salad looks awesome but I think its more the cheese and I'm a cheeeeeeese fiend!

OMG that is awesome! I hope you are still there in Oct cuz we are going to be there!

I am drooling over those waffle fries. I love me waffle fries and those look scrumptious.

That was very rude of the older boys parents to walk away from a situation there their kids created. Sometimes I just wonder about people.:confused:

Okay, YOU know that I have not made any of my ADR's for our trip in September because I can't until 29 and now you have me drooling over Yachtsman. But isn't that two credits per person? If so, that won't work with such a short stay.

You are killing me here, girlfriend.

Wow, your meal at the Yachtman looked great! It was already on our list for August but now I actually want to go instead of just going because DH wants to!

And the nachos are on my list for our eat around EPCOT day for sure! And that canta-loopy has been added to my drink around EPCOT list! Course my drink around will be over 4 or 5 days, not one!

After a fun filled, drama filled, booze filled Friday we were worried about what Saturday had to bring us....it has to bring us CROWDS!

Woke up early, not because I wanted to, not because the alarm went off but because some nimrod thought it woudl be ok to let his kids run screaming and yelling up and down the hallway at 6:30 in the freakin morning...oh man, I was really regretting those 3 daquiries I had the day before.

Up early, hot shower and in desperate need of coffee. I mean real deal Holyfield coffee....not this junk in the room. I was like a mad woman, you know it is bad when I am chanting COFFEE COFFEE COFFEE and your husband has to tell you to shut it as people are starting to stare. :rotfl2:

When we finally got to Epcot the coffee stand by England wasnt open yet. I was coming unglued. Finally, after what seemed like eternity I made it to the coffee stand by Ellen Degeneres. I had a large non fat vanilla latte...I asked the girl to give me another shot and she said it already had 4 shots...DONT CARE give it to me!

Ah...a 5 shot espresso coffee...even if it is Disney it has to be good right? Well it is Joffrey's Coffee and that is pretty good stuff. I was a very very happy girl, even if I did scorch my tongue on the first gulp.

FebDisneyTrip055.jpg

FebDisneyTrip057.jpg

FebDisneyTrip056.jpg

The girl was putting pastries out and I asked her if they were the same danish that Main Street Bakery has and she said no...bummer

FebDisneyTrip052.jpg

FebDisneyTrip054.jpg

I almost skip away I am so happy...I have my coffee and it isnt nasty! As I smile to myself and whisper lovey things to my cup of coffee I hear a growl come from behind me. It is getting louder, it is getting meaner and now it is starting to breathe down my neck. I am afraid to turn around as I have a clue what it is :scared1:

It is Todd's stomach!

He is not looking very nice....

TODD: Are you happy now dear? Did you get what you wanted dear?

ME: Oh yes yes...very very happy, I have 5 shots of espresso coursing through me....happy happy joy joy

TODD: Oh thats so good...now it is time to find me a bit of happiness...where da food at??

ME: (I point to the coffee heaven I just was at and said) Go get it big boy...they have all kinds of stuff

TODD: Nope, I need food food not that stuff

Ah great, tear me away from caffeine Nirvana for food! Just to stop the monster from within I got him a pretzel...can you believe they have this stuff out so early? Can you believe they were almost sold out already????

FebDisneyTrip062.jpg

FebDisneyTrip061.jpg

FebDisneyTrip063.jpg

We went to Sunshine Seasons, had to get FP for Soarin anyways! One line open for breakfast and one line for pastries...it was mobbed. Where the heck did all these people come from?

Jumped in line for pastries first...sorry sold out of cheese danish, sorry sold out of cinnamon buns. Dang! Over to the food food line. One bounty platter, one croissant berry pudding...wait what? What is croissant berry pudding? I dont know but I gots ta have it!

The breakfast platter was the normal thing, icky potatoes, great creamy eggs, paper thin bacon and so so sausage. The french toast and biscuit was quickly gobbled up by DH as was most of the platter and he enjoyed it so that is good enought for me.

FebDisneyTrip059.jpg

Ah finally, fruit! Cold wonderful delish fruit!

FebDisneyTrip060.jpg

But the best is for last, the croissant berry pudding. This was bread pudding made with croissants and blueberries and it was the best thing ever and I could have eaten huge bowls full of this! It was amazing!

FebDisneyTrip058.jpg

Jealous of the nice weather you enjoyed. I tried to talk my wife into a last minute trip when I saw the forecast, but no go. Keep forgetting we have a wedding to pay for in 2012

I tried a Canto Loopy for the first time during F&W. Nice option when I'm not feeling a margarita, not to mention that generous pour of vodka!!

Cabana Bar is a great spot. Had lunch there a year ago on a Sunday, and watched Packers/Bears(no room at ESPN). Sounds like your show may have been more exciting than the game we watched :)

Glad to hear that you enjoyed Yachtsman, as we are headed there for the second time in May( IM, FF, and Bluezoo too). Have yet to try a restaurant that you and Todd liked, that we have not enjoyed as well. Thanks again for reviews!!

Can't wait to read more, the friendly banter between you and Todd has me in fits of laughter :rotfl:

Yes I am! I am trying to get them all done today since work will be a nightmare tomorrow LOL! That is how Todd and I talk every day...our family thinks we are nutty!

Okay...are you sitting down??? We have NEVER been to the Main Street Bakery except once and I think we got a chocolate chip muffin years and years ago. What have I been missing all these years???? Ok what???!!!! Are you pulling my leg? You have got to get your rear in gear and get in there woman!!! They have frozen cappuccino's too!

God, Todd just cracks me up. When will he EVER listen to you? :confused3:confused3

Um never? He has been this way for 20 years, no stopping him now

The Terrace is NEVER open when we are there. I think the kids were still little the last time it was opened when we were at the parks. That menu looks really, really good.

I thought so too! I wish I was hungrier I would have had lunch there that day

I am getting an upset tummy with everything that man of yours eats in such a short time and at such weird hours.

Oh you have no idea...this is a man that can eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a jar of cocktail olives for breakfast...I swear to you, he has done it before!

I am loving Todd in his new "body bag." ;)

It was HUGE!

I am drooling over those waffle fries. I love me waffle fries and those look scrumptious.

The best I ever had!

That was very rude of the older boys parents to walk away from a situation there their kids created. Sometimes I just wonder about people.:confused:

Me too!

You are killing me here, girlfriend.

For once I would love for you two to have a signature meal...this place will blow your mind!

The dinner was outstanding, thank goodness or he would have been all over me about it! Nachos and a cantaloopy are the best! I wish we had more time, would have loved to do it again!

A wedding is much more important although if I had to do it all over again I would have eloped as Todd's quiet German family made my large loud Italian family crazy! :lmao:

Your line up sounds wonderful! We are trying to go in May as well, maybe the 23-28, just to get away for a while. I def want to add those 4 places to our Oct trip!

Dangit! Your review of Yachtsman is going to make me change my ressies and put it in...i keep hearing good reviews so its time to put it back on my Signature rotation.

I am telling you that they need to put a Starbucks in every resort to make you and I happy for our morning coffee. IF we ever get there at the same time, I'll just drive and go get our coffee at SB's every a.m.

And of course the stomach was grumbling...he hadn't been fed in 12 hours at least. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Saturday was jamming at Epcot...people were packed like sardines and the wait times were outrageous. We ran to the countries for safety but it was insane there too!

As if the boy didnt get enough to eat for breakfast and let us not forget the pretzel at 9:20 am...he had to get another stinking egg roll!

FebDisneyTrip066.jpg

Well if you are going to do that then I am going to have a Peach Snap at 11am and I dont care what you say about it! He was not going for that so he had a plain Peach Oolong Ice Tea

FebDisneyTrip067.jpg

Also in China at the Joy of Tea stand they have pork buns and little pastries with spicy chicken in them

FebDisneyTrip065.jpg

Thankfully that held the boy over until lunch...this was his pick, REMEMBER, very important to remember that Todd picked lunch ok....I will touch on this later.

Over to Via Napoli, the love of my love's life this past November...as you recall we ate there not once, not twice but THREE times!! Of course he had to have it...he drove me nuts asking me to make sure we were eating there.

So yeah, remember that

We checked in and were seated right away...the place was slamming and there was a huge line out the door. An adorable waiter came over to take our order. We both had Acqua Panna

FebDisneyTrip074.jpg

I was surprised when they brought us bread and olive oil since we didnt get that on any of our visits last year. The oil was excellent, the bread was hard and dried out

FebDisneyTrip073.jpg

FebDisneyTrip075.jpg

New menu too...you can add your own toppings...or maybe that was on it and I forgot

FebDisneyTrip070.jpg

FebDisneyTrip069.jpg

FebDisneyTrip068.jpg

FebDisneyTrip071.jpg

FebDisneyTrip072.jpg

This is where DH has a brain fart and forgets things

TODD: I am going to get the Arancini

ME: You dont like that...lets not repeat MK ok?

TODD: No I really liked that the last time

ME: No you liked the ones from Citicos not here

TODD: You cannot possible remember

ME: Wanna bet? I dont Dis for nuttin pal

But the goof orders it anyways and is shocked when he doesnt like it. Not the sauce, not the stickiness of the filling, not the flavor...nothing. They were terrible....

FebDisneyTrip076.jpg

ME: Whats the matter? Mad cuz I'm right or mad cuz you didnt listen?

TODD: Yeah yeah I know, Nicki Know It All, right again

ME: Helps if you remember that the next time pal, save us all alot of time and trouble

Ah men...the joys of marriage LOL

I wasnt that hungry so I had the salad for two which as I remembered was enough for one (at least I pay attention when I speak) and that was a great salad, full of mixed greens and peppers with a nice spicy red wine vinegar dressing. I was not in danger of DH eating it as he calls that type of salad grass LOL

FebDisneyTrip077.jpg

He opted for a mushroom pizza...but wait, where are the mushrooms I paid $2 for???

FebDisneyTrip078.jpg

He was picking at it and he ate it but he didnt look too happy. I asked if he didnt like the mushrooms and he said the pizza was completely different, last time there was a ton of sauce and tons of cheese and this time not so much....ok so THAT you remember but the fact that you didnt like the rice balls slipped your mind? I finished off the half piece he left behind and I thought it was fine.

As we were leaving he told me that he wasnt so thrilled with VN this trip and to skip it next time. I am gonna add it in though because you just never know with that man of mine!

Nicki, Glad to see someone else who needs their coffee. I felt a little strange writing in my report that I had 5 espressos in the morning. That's the thing I hate about Disney. No matter where you go you have to search for a good cup of coffee. This year I brought my own blend so I could make that first cup in the room. I'm bummed, I never saw that berry bread pudding when I was there, it sure looks good.

It's not even 5 hours after you first start this DR and I only make it to the 3rd page?!?!?! :rotfl2: Girl, you are one popular dining reviewer!

Sorry I missed you guys this weekend! I have tentative dates for Oct 27-30. A friend and I booked at the Yacht Club  so we'll be close to Epcot (and have use of SAB!). We need to give our La Cava meet another try!

Yay!! I've been waiting for this review ever since I saw your ticker! LOVE LOVE LOVE your reviews, you always make me laugh! :) Glad you liked the Yachtsman, we are going the end of October and DH wants to try it. Our dinner at Le Cellier was horrible last time so we want to try somewhere new. Can't wait for more..
