They gave her the wrong room type. Why defend DVC when they were clearly wrong?
Not trying to defend Disney or DVC; rather, I was simply summarizing the rules.

The reason I mentioned this is due to the overall conversation, which seemed to steer toward getting a room assignment at or after 4PM. I wanted to set the proper expectations for anyone not as familiar with the system, which runs much different than a hotel.

The OP was pretty lucky to get her room at 10:30AM, and in this case, I wasn't privy to the conversation, so I don't know if the CM was trying to be helpful. Sometimes they will make changes on the fly if asked, and some members do say they will take any room if they can get in it early. In this case, any compensation likely is covered by that resort's dues instead of a hotel budget, so CMs are much less willing to make restitution when these type of issues occur compared to the hotel side.

Greysword, why are the preassigned rooms from online checkin the last rooms to be serviced on the housekeeping schedule?
They are not necessarily the last rooms to be serviced. It is my understanding that the front desk staff pre-assigns rooms for guests a couple days before arrival, especially those who do online check-in. The staff does not know if the people in that room will vacate early or late, so it is a craps shoot for the incoming guest.
 
Hey this sounds very similar to our recent stay. We were there April 30 to May 18th and we had a host of similar problems throughout our stay too. No texts messages at any of the resorts we stayed at (AKV, BWV, VB, BLT). Our keys wouldn't work at BLT and had to be escorted to our room at least 4 times to get in. Had the DDP for 1 night at AKV and after checkout we had no access to our remaining credits even though we should've been able to use them on checkout day. We had to pay with our cc and go to the front desk to get them to reverse the dining charges (note we are done using the DDP). The CMs (esp. at BLT) kept telling us that the NEW technology for the magic bands was causing the problems. They would not even give us our keys to our room even though our room was ready because the family before us had dining credits to use and in order to "cut" our new room keys, they would have to close their account. (I think that is what happened to our DDP problem when we left AKV and moved to BWV). We had a good time, but it certainly wasn't without a host of issues.

Our whole visit from may24 thru June 3 was frustrating too. Our room was ready at AKL early but at end of building and hall but glad it was ready,oh no online check in was greeted at door with iPad and they knew reservation . Had the same issue with AP vouchers at MK waited on line for 30 min and got to head of line and CM took us aside to the back to help speed along and she had computer problems and 30 min more we had tickets, into park after 7 PM and SM closed down, have enough afterb1st parade and take 30 min to get mouton park, then bus in grid lock for 20 min getting back to. AK. Next day off to DHS opens early get ride on TSM, get to hTT and line down to street at like 9:10 RRR down wait on single rider line til opens well after 9:30 and so it went. Last day of 10 go to MK there before opening and mass of people held up by new super fast system of passing thru wave you card system so backed up with mass of people and no lines . We happened to be in last line on right and a manager brought out girls with hand held scanning devices that worked like a charm and cleared people fast. I did not see any speed up with the new system just masses of people trying to figure out where to go, but zinger spent this money and by god he is going to use it I can not imagine what it is going to be like when everything is on this wristband that you will have to wear? And these are only the highlights of the week, too much to go on about. Only good thing was check in at SSR, we got there at like 11 and CM said room was not ready were we going to parks and we said no we had just gone to supermarket! Oh wait I have a room in congress park our only request, on the second floor waxes that OK. Well yes that is what we requested ? Very strange but we were on our way happy:)happy.:):banana: but not so our whole trip.:mad:
