Today is the Grand Floridians 15th year!!!!

today is Grand FLoridian's 15th birthday!!

We stayed there for our first trip to WDW in 1989; didn't realize at the time it was so new. We loved it and stayed there two more times over the years (and also twice at BC).

How things have changed. There were no internet discussion boards at the time, except maybe for Unix programmers, so we got all our information from brochures. I don't remember if I even bought a guide book - or if there even were guide books. I remember MGM just opened that year and we did that park in just a few hours. Swan and Dolphin were just being finished - no "Epcot resorts" yet. Look at things now around there.

But back to GF - it is still the premier resort in my eyes and I'm sure we will spend some time there during our trip this summer (when we'll be at the Swan for the first time). I want to see the new pool thre and at Poly also.

Happy belated birthday to the first WDW resort that my family ever stayed at. That was an incredible stay, but sadly got my family addicted to WDW. And it's been an addiction that we have never been able to break. Case in point, we'll be staying at the GF during our upcoming vacation. My husband is in Hog Heaven just thinking about it (the GF is his favorite resort). And I am in Hog Heaven just thinking about how I'm going to lounge around the pool as I read my modern day fairytales -- the Enquirer, the Star, People, and Us. Oh, yes, we're going to have a grand time at the Grand. Happy 15th birthday!

Happy Birthday to the GF ~

My sister (Heather) stayed at the GF when Princess Diana was there with her boys ~ I have never heard the end of it

Everytime I say I am going to Disney she starts with the "Well when Diana and I were staying at the GF.. blah blah blah... "

My Sister was in the gift shop when Diana was in there too ~ she was buying baseball caps and tee shirts ~ assisted by a GF CM and they were chatting happily and in good spirits.. everytime I see this hotel I think of Diana.

Not surprising - GF is "the" celebrity resort. Bruce Willis was there last time we were ('98). We heard stories of Michael Jordan and his kids, and at the dock a CM told us about Evander Holyfield, wanting to take out a water mouse, but he was a bit large for it.

I remember with the Grand Floridian was in construction. I can't believe 15 years have passed so quickly.
