DS has been sick with the flu for the last week. He hasn't been allowed to go outside (dr's orders) and he's BORED to death, as am I. So he's been acting out a bit more than usual because there's only so much we can do INSIDE.

DS: *slams his bedroom door*
Me: What is going on here?
DS: *slams the door again* I"M VERY MAD RIGHT NOW! *kicks the door*
Me: :confused3 Why?
DS: I just am! MAD MAD MAAD! *kicks the door some more*
Me: Ooookay..

and I wander off. I come back fifteen minutes later, to see if he's worked out his agression on the door.
Me: Can I open this door now?
DS: NO! I"m still angry! *sounds of kicking the door and slamming his hands against it*
Me: Ok. Fine. Be mad.

Eventually he'll get tired of beating up the door and come out.;)

Maybe you can have the doctor make a house call and DS can kick him instead. While I try to keep “overheating” to a minimum when my DS is sick, I know it does no good to completely shut him down because the impact of the anxiety is worse than the activity.

Most peds just do not appreciate our children broader needs

I would love to. But I'd have to submit my request six to eight weeks in advance, in triplicate, with a notarized statement documenting WHY I need the pedi to make a housecall.

We're looking for a new ped, actually, because while our current one is ok his office policies SUCK.
