Today in Music History:

Composer Franz Gruber died in 1863 – composer of Silent Night.

The Birthday of George Szell in 1897 in Budapest, conductor of the great Cleveland Orchestra.

The Singer currently known as Prince was born in 1958.

In 1975, John Denver’s “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” first topped the charts.

The Rolling Stones made their first TV Appearance in 1963.

The Musical Grease opened on Broadway in 1972 and ran for 3,388 performances.

In 1962, the Beatles had their first full recording session at Abbey Road – recording “Love Me Do”, “P.S. I Love You” and “Ask Me Why”. And in 1970, the album Let it Be reaches Number one on the charts.
