Toby Keith

Really liked Toby Keith's music - have several of his songs on my playlist. Many people boycotted him over the years- he was honest (too honest?) about what he believed and how he felt - and his opinions definitely didn't jive with some in today's world. He sometimes talked first and thought later - so foot went into mouth once in while. lol. But he was funny, talented and I was sad to hear this. Didn't know he was sick.

I realize people pass away every year - but why does it feel like we lost so many performers the past year in particular?

Here's to you, Toby!

Because we're getting old enough to where it's a lot of performers we've been very familiar with for a very long time passing away. Anyway, I don't wish what happened to him on anyone.

I never heard his music, but I always heard good things about him. My mom had stomach cancer, and it’s one of the most difficult cancers to fight and win. Her doctor thought she did extremely well to last ten years. I would not wish it on anyone. RIP Mr. Keith.

Your mother was extremely lucky. I have a friend whose mother was diagnosed with it and passed just 3 months later. So tragic.

It was a surprise to us to hear about him this morning on the news, we thought he was doing better after his stomach surgery. We love his music. The year we went to Vegas for DH’s 50th birthday 16 years ago the hotel we stayed at had Toby Keith’s bar. I still have a couple Toby shirts. RIP Toby😢
He just performed at CMA in September. He definitely lost some weight but I thought he was recovering. I have How do you like me now?, I wish I didn’t know now, I love this bar and so many more in my playlist. It makes me sad.

I am sorry to hear that. I seem to remember the doctor telling my mom something like 5% of people make it to five years. It wasn’t an easy ten years. She had a couple bad years, then five that were pretty good, and then the last three were pretty bad, especially the last six months. I understand that Mr. Keith passed about two years after his diagnosis.

Dad passed about six weeks after his diagnosis, an aggressive leukemia that he just couldn’t get on top of. Having one parent go quickly and the other slowly, I think I preferred the faster demise, even though I miss them both. It’s awful to watch a loved one suffer for a long time and know there’s nothing you can do to help them. :sad1:

He wrote and recorded I Shoulda Been A Cowboy.
I always thought that was a fun sweet song.
Rest in Peace Toby.
That’s my fav song of his. I‘m one of the people who was disappointed in his views and support of a certain someone but I respected his work for the troops.
