I like everything about Toby EXCEPT the rah-rah military crap. He's definitely an accomplished songwriter as well as just an entertainer.

Not a Country Music fan so I don't know his "straight" country music songs. But I love his "bus songs" like "I'll never smoke weed with Willie again" and "The Taliban Song". Very fun!

Like him, and his music, but don't think much of his fans that trash talk the DC but support him doing the same thing.

I adore Toby Keith-the one command is not the only one he has preformed for-he does tours in iraq about every 4 to 6 months-and bosnia and afghanistan-i know a number of soldiers -my husbands included-and when he played cheyenne frontier days three years ago my sons and i went for free because my husband was deployed-hes a great guy

Toby isn't rah-rah military per se, but he is very much rah-rah when it comes to our troops, he is very supportive of them....believe it or not, Toby isn't even republican, he is a democrat.

I didn't pick anything on the poll because I go back and forth on Toby Keith.
I love alot of his songs, but there are SOME that I can't stand. I HATE the Mexico song (it just bugs me, especially the part where the guy is calling his wife and the "fling" is in the shower) and I can't stand Whiskey Girl. I love alot of his older stuff though, especially "The List" and the newer song Mockingbird with his daughter.

I was REALLY surprised not to see Toby at the CMA awards. He wasn't nominated for anything and he didn't seem to be there, they didn't show him at all. Anyone know what is up with that?

I "think" he and the CMA people are at odds with each other, in a major way.

Ummmm really? There was nothing in the newsletter....

I had never heard of him until I read Cool-Beans swooning over him. ;)

But then, I try to avoid listening to country music whenever possible.

Not everyone like country music. No biggie. You like it or you don't. :)

I'm a swooner. But if one is going to swoon, can you think of a better guy?!!

The music really is good. When I heard the first line of "Should've Been a Cowboy," I was hooked. And funny! Not just the songs, he's funny in concert, too. But not everyone likes country music.

Toby isn't often up for awards because he's at odds with his recording people. They didn't want to release, "How Do You Like Me Now," because they thought women would be offended...that kind of thing. It went on to be a #1 hit on the country charts. :)

His latest record was put out by his own company, Show Dog. IMO, it isn't his best album, and (once again) the best songs on it won't be released.

And, yes, Toby is a card-carrying Democrat. Campaigned for the Dem governor of Oklahoma, too.

I have been in the Nashville music biz. for a while, but you are right, he was absent, had not noticed. I will ask a few questions to see what the buzz is.

My GUESS is, he has gone out on his own and started his own label, Nashville types to not like those who break the system..they see it as being disloyal, add that to the fact that few if any Nashville publishers get their songs recorded by him. He writes his own songs, good or bad. In other words if other people do not make money off what you are doing they get upset.

Garth is a good example, his Wal-Mart deal cut everyone out! Garth also for the most part records his own or his friends songs, my good friend Dewayne Blackwell is one of them, he is not complaining!(Friends in Low Places, Hello Operator).
So, guess what people sit on the CMA voting boards(the ones who decide who is in and who is out), and guess who sits on the ACM boards?
If you guessed many of those same disgruntled, more than likely you would be right!

I really like Toby! I think what he does for the troops is awesome, instead of just talking about supporting them he follows his own adivise "Little Less Talk and a Lot More Action!" It would be nice if more celeberties did this instead of just flapping their lips blah, blah, blah! Supporting the troops doesn't mean supporting the war.

I use to like him, loved the "How do you like me now?" song. Now I can't stand him. My loved died at the words, "We'll put a boot in your ***, it's the american way!" Um....maybe yours, not mine. Then it just rolled down hill from there.

I also don't like the Dixie Chicks anymore either.

I don't like country music, so I was never going to be a big fan. I knew who he was (sort of) and I didn't care about him one way or the other - until that song mentioned above. That particular song really turned me off and gave me a bad feeling about him. In my opinion, it just made him seem like a jerk. So, no thanks. Don't like him.

I like him. I've seen him in concert a couple of times and he really puts on a good show. And, we're practically neighbors - well sort of, his house is about 5-10 miles from mine! He is also a big Oklahoma Sooners fan, which makes him a good guy to me!!
