Can anyone recommend a decent, 2 slice toaster that's under $35-ish? My sister's toaster is driving her, and me, crazy. It pops up way too soon and it's almost impossible to do a second (or third, or fourth) toasting as it pops again almost immediately. I think the thermostat is way too sensitive or something, but it's not worth fixing as this was literally the cheapest toaster at Walmart (my brother bought it for her, long story). ANYHOW, her birthday is in June and I want to get her a toaster, but don't know which brands are reliable. Any suggestions- and why do you like it?

I am not sure which kind is best, but I know I have NOT had a good experience w/Cuisinart. I had a nice 4 slice version. It became a 2 slice version within a couple years. It was still usable, but only half of it worked. :sad2:

Too funny we have really good luck with our Cuisinart toaster, but I believe it was more than $35. I doubt there are any small appliances worth having serviced even if you could someplace that does that. I would look around at Target/Walmart to see what they feature. Cheaper models likely have fewer features and/or won't last as long.

I also have a Cuisinart (4-slice) that’s at least 20 years old. We use it almost daily and it works great, no issues. You can get 2-slice in black or white for about that price (stainless steel is more).

I know I'm going to sound like an old man here but I truly think they just don't make these kinds of things like they used to. I'm not sure spending more money will give that much better quality.

I hate my Walmart toaster but the price is right and I found I didn't like the more expensive ones either. I guess this one just let's me hate it for less investment. 😀

Yeah - toasters are not great - I've gone through far too many of them and paying more really does not help.

There is some $200+ toaster I've heard is really good - but I don't need a $200+ toaster.

I am happy with my 4 slice automatic Cuisinart - its was like $50 on sale - but if you get a couple of years out of it you are doing good. I always buy the extended warranty and they just replace it within the three years if it fails and it usually does.

I think many companies now make lower priced appliances to match how they will be used. If I was running a restaurant and using a toaster in a commercial setting making hundreds of slices each day, clearly the requirements/cost for that would be far greater then one used infrequently at home. A refrigerator cycles on/off 24/7 so it also has to be built to higher standards to last 15-20 yrs of constant use. A home toaster that is used a few times a week, not so much.

Omg 😱 I’m on my third toaster in the last two years my last toaster lasted me over 20 years and I cannot find one now that works worth a darn and no they do not make toasters like they used to and the prices of these things are ridiculous and I use a toaster quite frequently and I could throw the one I have now in the trash and half the time I’m afraid it’s gonna catch on fire 🔥 I toasted a bagel the other day and within five seconds it had smoke coming out of it and I’m like are you kidding me this toaster is not even six months old and it wasn’t cheap I’m about to do toast the old-fashioned way and put it in the oven I’m so done with toasters
My boss had the 4 slice Cuisinart toaster it’s OK but that’s a lot of money for a toaster I think he’s on his third one I don’t have money to burn like that

We have a Mickey Mouse toaster! It browns the bread with a Mickey face, but the best part is that it plays the Mickey Mouse Club theme song when the toast pops up. :earsboy:

Where do you get these refrigerators? I feel like if I get 5-10 out of one I am lucky - and I'm not buying the crappy ones.

I am joking ... somewhat
My parents have a KitchenAid that'll be 27 this year. The ice maker is still going strong, too.

I have liek the world's cheapest toaster made by Oster. I've had it for many years and it still works well, though I will say that I don't use it that much. I am not sure how it would hold up to every-day use.
