To use travel agent or not???

Hi everyone! I've been lurking on these boards for a few months now and have gotten so much information already! We are planning our first family trip to Disney in November!!! We have had some communication with a Disney TA, but are wondering about just planning the trip ourselves (i.e. the hotel room, booking character breakfasts). We aren't planning on doing the dining plan, except maybe the quick service, so we won't need a lot of reservations made Is there a benefit to using a travel agent over just booking ourselves???

I've done it both ways. I used a travel agent when I was working and was afraid I wouldn't be able to jump on codes when they came out. I liked the times I did it myself. If you need to change anything like your length of stay you have to notify your agent and they wait to hear back from them. One agent made a touring plan for us, but I didn't use it because I use what I learned from experience and the boards.

I personally like to do it myself. That way I know that what I want has been asked for and I have control over everything. If you use an agent to book your ADR and then decide you want to change it you have to go through them. I like being able to pick up the phone and take care of everything myself.
