To Those Who Want Best Rates Checked - Should be a sticky...

I've literally checked Best Rate for every set of dates at all of the deluxes, the mods & the values for the 2006 Value Season and here's what I've found...

The Best Rate discounts are ALWAYS coming up at:

$70 off Deluxes

$40 off Mods

$20 off Values

There are the discounts, as long as a room is available.

Just like the last few rounds of traditional AP rates, the discounts are flat $$$'s off, not percentages.

For example:

2006 Value season

Pop Century Best Rate is $59 + tax = $65.79 Rack Rate is $79 + tax = $88.09

Coronado Best Rate is $99 + tax = $110.39 Rack Rate is $139 + tax = $154.99

Poly GV Best Rate is $245 + tax = $273.18 Rack Rate is $315 + tax = $351.23


This also appears to be true for value dates in December......

One interesting thing that I'm seeing as I'm checking, is that the dates that should be "Holiday Season" i.e. 12/20 & beyond. The Best Rates coming up are the same as those for "value season" in December....For example....

12/17/05 Poly GV Best Rate is $234 + tax = $260.91 Rack Rate is $304

12/24/05 Poly GV Best Rate is exactly the same.....though the rack rate is $484 + tax

I also checked this at the CR, CSR, WL & Pop & it holds true for all of them....

So, if you want to know what your Best Rate would be, if a room were available for Best Rate booking.....

1) Find the rack rate

2) Subtract the applicable discount

3) Add tax

BINGO! There's your Best Rate.

Nobody can figure what the BR's would be for any time beyond 02/16/06 because they're not available yet. It should be interesting to see what the discounts are once the seasons change.

One interesting thing that I'm seeing as I'm checking, is that the dates that should be "Holiday Season" i.e. 12/20 & beyond. The Best Rates coming up are the same as those for "value season" in December....For example....

I just got an email PIN promotion. Basically I can get value season rack rate for any date in the promotion period 11/1-11/18 and 11/27-12/25

If you're going during value season it's rack rate otherwise my rate is discounted to the value season rate.

Sounds like they're doing the same adjustment to the AP rates. You might check those range of dates and see if Disney is consistent.

The problem with a sticky is that most people don't bother to look at a sticky before they post. Then people complain because there are too many stickies.

Basically, what they're doing for December Holiday Season is offering Value Season rates and then taking off the $70/$40/$20.

MY PIN offer give value season pricing to part of the holiday season. I gave the dates.

I'm curious what happens for a 12/26 checkin? That's holiday season even with my PIN code. Sounds like Disney is changing the seasons for some guests.

There are no BR rooms available 12/26 - 01/01. From what I've read on Mousesavers, AP rates were never offered during those times.....

HI. I own DVC, going to DIS, waitlisted to use DVC pts Nov 10 & 11, I have an annual pass, CRO, just told me that the AP discounts have not been announced for Nov 05 as of yet?? can someone PM the disc code?? I also have AAA. thanks Val

Amazing, but true!!

We booked CR Tower Concierge for $335 per night for December 23-26, and the rack rate for that same room for those dates is $560 per night!! That savings for 3 days more than covers the cost of my AP (not that I'd ever really pay $560 per night for any room).

We could never afford to stay in a deluxe room, much less a concierge room, at Christmas without the BRP. I figure this is our last best chance to stay in a renovated CR room at a deeply discount rate!

I have a theory on the "extension" of value season. Most schools usually give the week before and after Christmas as vacations. However, this year Christmas and NYD both fall on Sundays, and it would appear that many schools (ours included) don't start their vacations until after school on the 23rd. The week after Christmas is always busier at WDW than the week before, and I think this scheduling quirk is making that unbalance even worse. So, bookings the week before Christmas may well be down significantly.

Hi Val! (Great Name...I'm a DVC owning Val too!)

There is no discount code. Right now, the only way to book a discounted room if you have an AP is through the AP site on Disneyworld.com.

You would have to book a minimum of 60 days out & there's a 1 night nonrefundable deposit. If you do a search here on the codes board, you can get quite a bit more info.

Hi Melissa!

A pin is the number that is associated with an offer that was snail mailed or emailed to you by Disney. When Disney has a "Pin Code" attached to your name (you can call & find out), it means that there is a special offer that you can use to book a stay or package. (fair warning, not everyone has one)

Best Rate is the new room-only booking program offered to Annual Passholders. It can only be booked through the passholder site on disneyworld.com or through a travel agent & you must have an activated adult AP or voucher to take advantage of it.

A sticky is a thread that remains posted at the top of a message board.

I wanted to add that if anyone is thinking about checking a Best Rate for a Concierge or room that the rack rate is $375 or more a night, it would definately be in your best interest to check out the AAA rate as well.

During Value season, the AAA rate is 20% on the Deluxes and could possibly save you a little bit more.

While I know that the AAA rate is one of those that won't necessarily qualify a BR for a reduction, It would definately be interesting to see how Disney would handle someone who booked one of these rooms at Best Rate & call them to ask for a rate reduction because they found the AAA rate.
