December99, I lost my mother 5 years ago, I know what you are going through. It never goes away, but you do learn to live with it. If you need an ear to listen or anything else I can do, just let me know. I know how hard the holidays can be.
{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}} to you too

Pokie

{{{hugs}}} Chris.

I have always taken great solace in this verse, I rewrote it in caligraphy and have it in my foyer, where I can always be reminded of it:

Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household world that it always was,
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It it the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.
All is well.

Hope you find some solace in it too. :)

Snoopy, that was beautiful.

My DH lost both his Mother and brother this past year so the holiday season has been stressful on him. I will give him your {{{{{HUGS}}}. Thankyou and {{{{{HUGS}}}} to all of you who are dealing with the loss of loved ones.

{{{HUGS}}} to you Chris and to all missing loved ones, especially during the holidays.

Snoopy, you just posted my favorite quote about death and loved ones. I have passed that one on many times myself to others. I know I find it comforting and I am sure many others will as well.

Thanks it's gonna be a tough holiday without my brother. Going to his house on Christmas Eve, I can still see him sitting in the LazyBoy giving me a hard time about something or anything. I miss that. Our last argument was about whose dog was better his or mine. I bet he would've gotten a good laugh when my dog lifted his leg and peed on his wife's coat at Thanksgiving and almost killed their cat. You all just made me smile thinking about this!

Chris I know what you are feeling believe me!!! {{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}

I have been crying at the drop of a hat lately. Not really knowing why other than I just miss Dad. I came to the realization tonight that it has been almost 4 months since we lost him. I know it is the same for you. It has been hard.

very nice thoughts...

I lost my Dad this year and we've totally changed our plans for the holidays this year, went on vacation over Thanksgiving, simplifying Christmas etc., it's like I need to make it different because it will never be the same.

((((((((((HUGS))))))))))

My mom was very sick 2 weeks ago. And the thought of losing her still brings tears to my eyes.

The poem is lovely snoopy:D

Now I am crying again as I sit here and type this - one of those nights that will be crying and not sleeping

I'll add my (((((((((hugs)))))))) since I know the feeling too well.I lost my dad when I was 16 and I saw Star Trek:Nemises since we shared a love of Starfleet

Well, it's been a month now, since my Mom passed away. I cant even contemplate that it is christmas.... I just feel numb still.

Some times, seeing everyone else celebrating, and being happy makes me feel physically ill, I cant help it.:(

I just want it to be over......:(

I miss you soooo much, Daddy. My last picture of Dad, July 4, 2001. Thank you for this thread. {{{HUGS}}} to all.

{{{Hugs}}} to all who are grieving their losses of loved ones.

This will be my third Christmas since the untimely death of my husband. The pain does dull with time, but the sense of loss and unfairness of it are always lurking somewhere. Adults can rationalize and accept, eventually moving on with life, but it is harder for children to deal with losing their beloved dad, as in our case. Jen was 14 and even last night came crying as she "saw" her dad enter her room in her sleep. So, I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers and hope that time does indeed help heal your wounds.

Even more {{HUGS}} and sympathy for the loss of all your beloved ones, soo missed this holiday! :(

Like I said in helenabear's thread, it just makes me MORE thankful for the family I still have here with me!

Peace & Happiness, Comfort & Love, to ALL of you grieving during the holidays.

Having lost my only brother this year, I know the pain of that First Christmas without our loved ones.

This past weekend I have been baking cookies. With every cookie comes a memory of a loved one who has gone. I will be making Conoli shells today, this is a Sicilian Recipe that my DH Nana always made. I think of my SIL who was so proud to learn how to make them.

I am going through a rough time right now. My DD Lisa is having treatments for an illness. She is not doing well. I can only hope and pray these treatments are working and she can live a life that is disease free.

To everyone who is feeling the pain of Christmas without our dear departed loved ones. {{{HUGS}}} and more {{{HUGS}}} I also feel your pain and loss. To everyone who is suffering through the sickness of loved ones. Extra tight {{{HUGS}}} I am also feeling your pain.
