I remember her! My first crush. How about Happy the Clown! Some of my classmates appeared on Chief Halftown.

I remember Sally, and not to be mean but I'm really surprised she's made it to 87! Every time I was near her she was pickled!

My older brothers and sisters hated her for some reason. I remember they use to take the autographed pictures she gave out and used them as dart boards in our cellar. It's a wonder I wasn't ruined forever by my siblings.

LOL... so true...

BTW, I used to serve hamburgers to Captain Noah..... not a nice man in person.

BTW, the one I really liked as a kid was Gene London.

Oh my gosh, I do remember our gal Sal. Yes she did love the drinks. But I loved her show. God bless her on her 87th birthday!

This is too funny! I heard about Sally Star for the first time yesterday!! My grandma was telling the story that she came home one day and saw a Cadillac in the driveway. Inside, she found Sally Star in her basement, yelling at my 17 year old uncle and his bandmates for egging her house. (Which this uncle hadn't, but his younger brother probably did). My family is Canadian and they had no idea who this woman was, which she didn't believe. My grandma had to physically remove her from the house. :rotfl2:

Now that I read she seemed to like her liquor, that might explain things!!

Captain Noah was a nasty drunk:sad2: I met him through my uncle who used to cater for Channel 6. What a dissapointment:guilty:

I don't know about drunk... maybe he was, but he was a gigantic PITB when ordering food at Burger King....

Ok people,,, Capt. Noah was a nasty drunk,,,,you people have broken my heart,,, who am I gonna send my pictures to, now? I never knew it:sad: Please don't ruin Mrs. Noah for me!!

I have seen Sally Star in my local ShopRight giving the deli people a hard time.:)

Sally Star, Gene London, Chief Halftown, and Captain Noah! Talk about a trip down early Philadelphia childhood television!! Anyone else remember Pixanne?? (not sure if she was just in Philly)

BTW...remind me to stay out of the Williamstown Shop Rite. Who wants to run into a nasty old Sally Star at the deli counter....:rotfl:

OMG I loved Pixanne - I didn't think anyone else remembered her? How about Happyt he Clown?

Always watched Sally Star, Chief Halftown and Gene London too.

Back in the early 90's, Chief Halftown used to do appearances at Dutch Wonderland-- and he was pretty tanked!

I have a picture of my son (born in 1994) at Dutch wonderland. My son was too scared to say hi.

I used to work at Medford Leas retirement home in the late 80's and Larry Ferrari (the organ player) used to do appearances. The residents LOVED Larry Ferrari. He was always nice to the old ladies, and decent to the employees there.

My cousin appeared on Chief Halftown when he was a kid in the boy scouts. He said he was a mean old man.

I did love Gene London too, but sometimes I was afraid he was going to fly away.

I remember Pixanne too. What great memories. I used to love Sally Star and Popeye theater. Happy times.

I loved all these TV people! Pixanne was very nice in person, she used to shop at Lord and Taylor in Bala Cynwyd.

Happy Birthday, Sally Starr!!

Mrs. Noah may not have been a saint either. They were on the Preston and Steve show a while back - hoo BOY! Check it out on the old links on their site. Loved Pixanne, Oggy Owl, Happy the Clown and marching sticks, Sally Starr was a daily must watch....I saw her in a parade in Souderton years ago. Gene London, I loved him! Saw a taping of his show once when I was 8. Got his autograph for a friend and when I said she wasn't there because she threw up in school :rotfl2: he was SO gracious...a class act.:groom:

C'mon who can sing it? "Come right on in to the General Store, we have......"
And mean old Mr. Dibley and his daughter Debbie Dibley?

I always watched Sally Starr. I used to love the end of the show when they'd toss her leather mail bag to her and she'd pull out a letter to read. I loved to sound of that leather bag (weird, I know!) I never see a leather bag and not think of Sally Starr!

I watched Captain Noah all the time too. Weird me, I thought there was a relation to Captain Crunch cereal and Captain Noah so I always ate Captain Crunch cereal for breakfast as a kid! LoL Sorry to be he was a mean ol' drunk man. :(

Every Sunday morning I'd get up at the crack of dwan and sneak downstairs to watch Chief Halfton. I loved all that "talent" on there and dreamed of being on the show once I discovered my anazing talent!

Gene London was HUGE at our house. We all loved him! My oldest sister still can sing the song (and does, at the top of her lungs!). I loved the part of the intro about confetti in his underwear!!
He was a huge Walt Disney fan! I absolutely loved to watch him draw and tell a story.

We also loved Wonderama. I loved those snaky things that'd pop out of the "Pringle type" cans!

PA TV was awesome for kids back then. loved it, loved it, loved it!

we have a photo of her in our dining room with my dad and some of my siblings, some girl sent a letter to sally about my dad who was a Phila police officer and Sally had the girl and my dad on the show and presented him with an award. This was back in about 1969. My siblings got to be on the show too, because Sally found out my brother was battling luekemia. I was only a toddler. I wonder if Sally would remember my dad and siblings. Could you please please please ask her if she remembers? I know it is almost 40 yrs ago but you never know.
When I was about 3 I got my picture taken with chief halftown with 2 of my sisters.

Fond memories of Gene London & Sally Starr.

Do you remember Dr. Shock & his cute little daughter Bubbles. She thought nothing of her dad climbing out of a casket every week.

Soupy Sales, White Fang?

I grew up with both AND (as a kid of course) was on Chief Halftown's show!

Also fondly remember Gene London and Soupy Sales.
