Terms and Conditions – Package
RATES

All rates are subject to change until package is paid in full. All rates are in U.S. dollars.

Walt Disney Travel Co., Inc. reserves the right to decline, accept, or retain any guests as a participant in these packages at any time. If a package is cancelled by Walt Disney Travel Co., Inc., Walt Disney Travel Co., Inc. shall have no responsibility beyond the refund of all monies paid by the guest or guests' agent, as the case may be, to Walt Disney Travel Co., Inc., less any amounts retained by airlines, hotels or other parties providing services or products.

Just wanted to make you all aware of what could happen, we'll just keep our fingers crossed this won't be that case.

I have no doubt WDW Travel would not hesitate to cancel the packages that they did not intend to sell. I'm sure they are crunching numbers as we speak to detemine the bottom line and if it is worth doing something about. If they do cancel any of the Visa Dreamaker Packages, I strongly believe that something similar will will be offered to all but won't include the $100 Disney dollars.

We did not get to take advantage of the FTP last year as it was the first year we did not go to Disney since 1997. I was bummed we couldn't utilize FTP but thought what a great marketing ploy by Disney to get people to spend their whole week of vacation at WDW. WDW is aware of the increasing # of people splitting their stay with Universal which is why they came up with the FTP and limited room only codes last year. Every year spend 2 nights at Universal and the next 5 at WDW. Last summer we made a trip to Universal for three nights without stopping at Disney. If this Dreamaker package deal works out, Disney will get my business for our entire vacation this summer. If a deal is not offered, our vacation will be split again with Universal. We enjoy both WDW & Universal (WDW will always be #1 in my heart) so in the end, I'll let the best deal prevail. We will be happy either way.

Bottom line of what I am trying to say is, I think the deal will be offered in some form but it may take a bit longer for it to come out.

So if you pay in full they can't change?

I don't read it that way at all.

WDW cancelling a reservation because a guest used an unauthorized discount isn't "changing the rate".

A perfect example of this is the Disney store fiasco not too awfully long ago. Someone publicly posted a code that allowed people to get a very significant discount. Many people (including myself) weren't aware that the code was not one for the general public.

It didn't matter whether you were aware or not, the code was directed to a targeted segment. The Disney store cancelled every single transaction that anyone made who could not physically provide the card. Those transactions of course, were all paid in full, but they cancelled them anyway because the use of the code was unauthorized.

I'm not saying they will do this, but the possibility exists and it's a chance I wouldn't take.

I don't think this is so. If you read the next portion it says...
"Walt Disney Travel Co., Inc. reserves the right to decline, accept, or retain any guests as a participant in these packages at any time." I took this to mean that they could cancel a reservation, in a case such as if someone used a discount code they were not entitled to.

The fiasco you're referring to with the Disney Store was the free gift card that the catalog gave out. That was a nightmare!!! Someone almost as brillant as the person that designed the current offer only for certain new Visa card holders must have come up with that lovely plan. The fiasco with online/catalog could have been avoided had they issued gift cards with numbers rather than cards all with the same code. I remember when my card came in the mail; I thought..."this isn't gonna work."

I think another problem in this case is that Disney isn't training the CMs in how to make these reservations. If only new card holders should get the offer...then only new card holders should get the offer. That doesn't seem to be the case. Some CM give them the package without the code.

It's been awhile and I had forgotten exactly what the promotion was, but you're right, it was a fiasco. It was bad planning on Disney's part which only shows that even when it's a problem on their end, they still apparently have the right to cancel the deal.

The difference I see between the Disney store problem and this is that the only people who know about the FTP promotion are either, 1)entitled to it because they got a mailer, or 2) fully aware that they aren't entitled to it.

There's a world of difference between taking advantage of an offer you had no idea was a mistake and making repeated calls in attempt to get an unknowing CM to make the reservation for you. Seems to me Disney would be well within their rights to cancel any reservations made under those circumstances.

I agree that WDTC needs to train their CM's better, but it's a sad state of affairs when the extra training is needed to prevent intentional abuse of the system.

Not that it matters, but there was intentional abuse during the gift card episode though as well. I have a friend who worked at the catalog and there were many people who placed orders and should have only had one discount, they knew it and tried to get around the system anyway. I am not saying everyone that used it knew it was wrong though either. Some people did though.
