on the PoC on 10/11 during the wait for MNSSHP to begin , THANKS :confused3 :guilty: while the ride was stopped for 15+ minutes~

You scared the (#@)$*&!"*% out of my dd who has NEVER been scared of it before and WOULDN'T ride it the rest of the trip.

AND if it wasn't you this time, PLEASE don't use flash photography while in any ride. It was just enough to scare her until I don't know when!

Man, that's too bad. :( Did you say something to them?

& I was alone w/ my dd on the ride.

She cried the entire time while we were stopped. I guess I could have had her to tell the "mean people" to stop but I don't know if that would have helped at all.

The PA came on which says no flash photography etc. They didn't listen to that.

Don't you just love those "special" people who don't have to go by the rules? Aren't they just grand! :rotfl2:

We were on POC once, in the back bench of the boat. In front of us was a family of three with a child about 10-12 years old. The dad took flash pictures the ENTIRE ride, so DH and I quite audibly had a conversation about how rude it was and how the photos would never turn out anyway (a flash only illuminates about 10 feet in front of the camera). Toward the end of the ride, the mom turns around and abruptly informs us that her daughter has a disability and that her therapist has encouraged them to take photos of experiences so that she can better relive them later on and that we should mind our own business. DH told her that was fine and dandy - so sorry for your problem - but it didn't change the fact that no flash pictures are allowed on the ride, that none of the photos they took were going to come out and that they had ruined the experience for everyone in their boat and the two others in front and behind. She turned bright red, turned back around and didn't say a word the rest of the ride.

Ugh -- that reminds me of the idiot on It's a Small World who was taking 100 shots of his ?daughter (could have been grandchild -- ahem). I wanted to bop him in the head. Finally he stopped, but I agree -- zero consideration for people sitting less than 2 feet behind him.

Not to hijack the thread (but I will a bit). I can imagine that was very frustrating. I've had that kind of thing happens on other rides. I'm just wondering if something specifc happens on PoC that ruins it. You can tell I"m clueless about these things. Is it simply the flashing or does something else go wrong?

Big peeve of mine... It's rare for me to go on PoTC and not have a "flasher" in a boat around me.

I also find it amazing that a number of times I see WDW web sites sporting flash photos taken in WDW "dark rides" where photography is prohibited. The people that took them should know even better than the general public.

Wow, there are always a few in the bunch!

Good for you! Sometimes you have to speak up them so they can realize what a ** *they are being.

If you use the flash on certain rides, you may see how the imagineers created some of the magic ...and knowing how or why an effect is taking place takes away from the magic.

Got it...thank you very much. :wave2:

It's a Small World isn't a dark ride, but having a flash go off (and this was a huge telephoto professional type camera) go off repeatedly within armslength of your eyes kind of takes you out of the moment.

Fortunately, IASW isn't exactly precious to me :)

This happened to my sister and me. A man was taking pictures of the ride in the bench in front of us. The boat didn't stop, thank goodness, but for each new scene he took about 10 pictures. I'd hate to think what would happen if the boat would have stopped. I'm sure he would gave gotten out and arranged the AAs to his liking and take pictures with them. Sheesh. Anyway, I politely tapped his wife on the shoulder, as this man was pointing and random things and clicking away, and said "Excuse me, I'm not sure if you heard the announcement before the ride began, but there is NO flash photography allowed on this ride. I have very sensitive eyes and this is giving me a headache. Perhaps you could please tell your husband to stop taking pictures so I don't get a migrane and be sick all over your backs?" Well, that did it right there. He turned around and said a very curt, cold "Sorry" and sat still for the rest of the ride.

That is my biggest peeve in WDW - people who take pictures during rides. I want to just rip my hair out.

Like another poster said, there just must be those "special" people who are allowed to.

One time I was on the HM and the people a few doom buggies ahead of me were using their flash. I was tolerating it fine until we got to the Sceance room and their flash went into our eyes.

If it was truly a professional camera, and he ahd a clue as to what he was doing, he wouldn't need flash and his photo's would come out much better without it.

Anne (Who is a professional photographer who takes mostly lower light photo's, never a flash)

oops .. is it still in bad taste if they turn on the lights in PoC and start evacuating everyone?

I would never take flash photography on an attraction, but that happened to us on 10/15/05 and I will confess that we snapped a few pictures of the cast members in the water.

When I started to read this thread I thought you meant my family .. boy was I glad you didn't mean us :earsgirl:

On Spaceship earth.... I took pictures of the guy who kept taking pictures, right in his face.

Slightly off topic..but there was a guy who "ruined the magic" at the Ariel show at MGM. He kept going out & opening the exit door..he did this a few times & you can see the puppeteers on stage when there is light. Finally a CM came over & asked him to stop. I was annoyed because my 4 & 6 year old were really into the show.

LOL! I love it! What a great idea! Next time, that's what I'm doing. :)

crying her eyes out and whimpering. Maybe these other folks were just oblivious to EVERYONE around them as they were "special guests" while on the ride.

The ride eventually began again but it was hard to get her to go on any indoor rides/atractions after that!

It will be at least a year before we go back to WDW and by then I hope she won't remember it ... although her sister still remembers when "Buzz" broke down and asks us will it happen again. :rotfl: which it did right after I promised it wouldn't. :earboy2:
