Magic bands of course! We're going end of Oct and staying at AoA. WOuld you test or not?

We are going end if October and staying at AoA also but have no desire to use it. We have a few ADR's but that's the only hard planning I am going to do. Rather just take it as it comes :)

How do you know if you have been asked to test or not? Are they contacting people before they arrive or do they ask when you check in?

What if you select the bands but decide only to use them to open your room door. Can you still carry your AP with you for FP and admission?

If you are still able to use regular fastpass as well, then of course you should test. There would be no reason not to.

Yes. Even if you use the bands for your room key and FP+ you can still use your APs and KTTW cards for FPs.

The only downside to testing is the possibility of encountering problems with the new system. Any problems we encountered were fairly minor.

but as long as you carry your ticket (AP) at all times any hiccup with the band you simply pull out the ticket and use it instead correct?

We are going in September (yay!) and decided after much debate to try the test. Granted, some people have had problems but many people talk about having a great experience with the whole deal.
I love the idea of FP+, especially on the arrival and departure days when we would otherwise not be able to get and use 3 or 4 fps. I was skeptical about other days, thinking I normally can get more than 3 in a day, but I think it will work out well.
I also plan to push the boundaries of the system a bit when I am there.
Perhaps it is important for full disclosure math at I mention that I am a software tester by profession. :-)

So, we are going for it. Well see how it goes!

Heck yes, I'd test! We're set up to test in 12 days and are very excited!

I totally agree with you, we're just not into planning everything in advance...

With that being said, since MB and FP+ will be the future of a Disney World Vacation, looks like we will have to get use to those new systems so we decided to go ahead and test it.

I think there's a good way to use MB and FP+ : you can select a few things regarding days that you know for sure where you will be (like ADR in a Park or EMH). Also, if you are able to change your selections during the day, you can still take it as it comes.

TEST!!!

I already tested two weeks ago at Pop Century and was glad I did, the MagicBands and FP+ made my trip much more enjoyable as a whole.

Absolutely.

This is going to be the way to do it in the future. Might as well figure it out now.

can someone answer my question? I know maybe I am sounding naive because I don't know but I am interested in how you know you will be asked to test or not.

For us, we log in into MDE and we were told that we can customize our MB.

So no email or no phone by Disney to tell us we've been selected for the test.

Basically, if you are staying at a Resort that is part of the test, you'll probably simply have a link on your MDE account to activate and customize your MB.

I did not receive any notification, but when I logged in to do my online check-in, the MagicBands & FastPass+ were suddenly there and able to be customized. I'm hoping they're not just teasing me!

We tested 2 weeks ago and LOVED it! It was so nice to have everything on your wrist rather than digging things out all day. I hope when the testing is over you will be able to get FPs with your armband too. We saw a FP machine over for Dumbo that worked that way. We used ours for everything from Magical Express to FP+. Again loved it, try it you might like it.
