Should i bring an umbrella stroller for my dd4? She is so independant... but i think long days in the parks could tire those tiny tootsies..

what do you think?

Yes, Disney can be exhausting so having a stroller is important but you may save yourself some hassle of dragging a stroller around if you rent one in the park.

Absolutely! WDW is so different than back home. It's long, tiring, sometimes very hot days.

We bring our own but are getting to the age where we'll have to rent as needed. My DDs are age 5 and 8 so my youngest is just starting to be too old for a regular store bought stroller. She's almost 6 and getting too tall for them.

Enjoy!

MOST DEFINITELY. use strollers.

Some years ago I went with my sister and her husband, her son was 5 and mine were 3-1/2 and 6 at the time. We used strollers for all 3 kids, because even our high energy boys were pooped part way through the day.

(bring your own if its convenient, we rented them every day)

have a great trip! :sunny:

Definately!!! I am trying to decide what to do for my 5.5 year old. She never rides in a stroller any more but I'm thinking she might in Disney. I think I'm going to use the kind she can stand on the back or 2 lightweights.

You might want to rent, or get an umbrella stroller. Only problem with a cheapy umbrella stroller is they are a pain to push with bigger kids in them. The wheels are made lousy and they don't support the weight well. The Maclaren Volo is a great lightweight umbrella stroller but of course more expensive.

I would definitely rent. That way, you could start out your day by walking & not bothering with the stroller, and then when you decide you need one, go grab one. It's as easy as that.

Is it just you and DD4 going? If so, I'd do a stroller. But if you or your spouse are willing to carry DD on your shoulders for the long stretches, that's what we did. Of course, we also brought our stroller for DS1, which is why we didn't want one for DD4. I think Disney is very manageable for a 4yo without a stroller, but then again we went at a slower pace due to our 1yo.

If you have a one that is easy to push for long streches I'd bring it. If not you can always rent one. We bring ours for our 3.5 year old. It's just easier in the airports and hotels.

Here's a plea from a WDW fan who travels childless (so far, DD is only 19 months!). PLEASE pull over to the side of the walkway when you have a stroller issue. I can't tell you how many times I've nearly run over a family who abruptly stops their stoller in the middle of the walkway to adjust something or get something out of it.

That being said, at what age are kids generally out of strollers? DH and I want to take DD then, when she has better DIS stamina!! LOL!

Yes, there are rude, oblivious people on both sides of this...those without strollers who cut in front of strollers. Those who stop right in the middle of a walkway to take a photo with no warning, those with wheelchairs, those who cut off wheelchairs, those with scooters getting cut off and hitting you because it's not easy for them to stop, those in scooters who cut people off and it goes on and on. It's not just those of us with strollers.

Not trying to start a flame, but why single out people with strollers on this? MANY, MANY times I've been behind families who walk into an entranceway, and do the same! The whole family clan of like ten people will block an entranceway for the fifty people behind them while they debate which direction they want to go - complete with consulting their park maps! Ugh!

But even worse was the cop who ran into a four -lane highway during rush hour, endangering the lives of over fifty people who all had to SLAM on their brakes to avoid hitting each other, so he could point out a speeder in the far lane!

Yes, I'd suggest a stroller. Just make sure the stroller has a shade/rain flap. An umbrella stroller will be the lightest, depending on the brand and the features. I'd look for longer handles (are great for taller people/men), baskets are great for stuff (but you can also hang stuff off the handles, maybe) I agree about the wheel quality comment and older children. Having said that, I'd prefer my own stroller to a rental, but that is just me. Last, another reason a stroller is a good idea is to help keep track of the child. I'm not saying she'll get lost otherwise, but it makes it mentally easier for you to keep track of her, and it is easier for her to move through crowded areas having her own personal space.

MY younger DS will be 5 1/2 and we're taking our (almost outgrown) buggy with us as much to carry stuff as him! Also good for evenings as if he's tired he can sleep until the fireworks start (or sleep through them even). If it gives up on us out there its no biggy, but I'd resent that $8/day knowing I've got a usable buggy (with shade, raincover and useful basket!!) propped in the porch.

  17 days to go - I miss my countdown
