To stay on-site for Labor Day weekend

We have been to WDW several times for Labor Day weekend and never thought the crowds were that bad so we were wondering if we really need to stay on-site at UO for Labor Day weekend. The price isn't that bad, but we can stay off-site for a lot less. How bad will the crowds be? Do we really need the express pass? Thanks for the help.

I stayed onsite last year over Labor Day weekend. As I recall, crowds weren't bad. That said, I enjoyed the ever-loving poo out of having Express and still think it was worth it. As you say, the rates weren't that bad at all, and it's still a terrific set of resorts.

I'd do it again, but YMMV.

I guess it all depends on one's definition of "crowds not being bad".

I think the crowds at Disney are always bad. At least every time we've gone. 30 minutes to 1 hour at least on all the rides we really want to go on. That's why I've given up on Disney - it's not worth all the waiting in my opinion to do (maybe) 10 rides in a day.

At Universal, I can do 20 minimum in a day but have probably done 30-40 or more, and even taken in a few shows. Lots of repeats of course, but still, lots of time having fun and not waiting.

I'd always do express at Universal since one night gives you two days and it's just so nice having it. 30 minute wait to me, is a long time - That's 2-4 times I could probably ride the ride
