To Split Hotel or Not

Aloha,

We will be going to Disneyland in 2016. I was wondering your opinion on hotels. We normally stay on property at DLH for 7 days. But this trip we might try and split the trip between two hotels, an offsite one and the DLH. That way we could possibly stay for 10 days, and do surrounding activities. Question is: What hotels near the area are good? And close? I dont want to walk to far, we will have 3 kids with us, well 2 of them will be adults by then, and a 5 year old. Any help is appreciated! I did a split stay in 2013. HoJo's first, then DLH. The walk was about the same distance. I like HoJo's myself. There are plenty of discussions on here about which hotels are best. There is a new Courtyard (by Marriott) opening in August with family suites, so that's something else to consider. I would do the offsite hotel first, so it will feel like the move is an "upgrade".

There are lots of hotels nearby. Which one you choose depends on how many people in your party, what types of beds do you need, suite or regular room, budget, whether you'll be parking a car, etc. I recommend plugging in your dates on Trip Advisor, seeing the rates and reading the reviews. That will give you an idea of which hotels will suit your needs.

We were going to do that last year, a few nights off site then finish with GCH, but when we looked at prices it wasn't a heck if a lot more to stay at PPH than some of the hotels in the area (didn't want to stay in motels). We wound up doing an on site split stay and loved it.

I should add coming from NZ our budget is a bit higher, over $6k for airfares just to get there, so a few hundred more for PPH wasn't that much in the grand scheme of things.

If you're going to have a car, just drive over. If not, I would recommend taking a cab. It will drop you and your luggage right at the entrance.

Thanks for your help. We won't have a car so figured we'd probably need to use a cab, but just wondered if any body else had a better suggestion.
