I have read not great things about this, but I wanted to ask everyone who has been. Food wise, entertainment wise. We have a 3 and 4 year old. DH isn't really into rice...once in a while he can be. I love rice. I noticed a lot of rice served.
We are on the dlx dining plan. We don't have park hoppers, so the day that we would be available to do this would be Dec 17th or 18th. Im not sure what days they do this on.
I am open to alternative suggestions as well.:surfweb:

We went to this show on the 24th and loved it! My DD8 thought it was great and she was in awe the whole time.

Food was good but yes, it is rice. Chicken and ribs were superb!!

We liked it!

Chicken, ribs, rice, broccolli, bread and a huge salad with pineapple on the side.

Beer and wine also included.

We went last year with my 4 yo ds and he was less than impressed. He fell asleep during it actually. Dh and I enjoyed it, but didn't love it. We were tired of sitting by the time it was done and were pretty bored. We won't do it again.

I know others love it, which I think is great, but I thought I'd share our views since we also went with a young child.

Yes absolutely I need to hear things from parents with toddlers.

Well, i looked into it, there would be a 515 show that evening, and we will be doing early afternoon naps. Which even if my kids were bored, I know they wouldn't fall asleep.

Looking at footage on youtube, when is the fire baton fella come out? Im sure he has a proper more prestigious title, just can't think of it at the time. :rotfl:

Also, when is the food served? I assume the show and the dinner happen at the same time? I wasn't aware that it is outside, but it appears to be in some of the videos. Does this mean one should dress a little warmer (since it will be in Dec)?

We really liked it. Had fun, got into the spirit of the show. Just something everyone should try once.

Here's a few pics.... I told my wife to make silly face on the 2nd photo

We've done the luau, once, and that was enough, just not our cup of tea. We've attended the Hoop Dee Do, many many times, like over 15 in our 41 trips to WDW. It's a country style show, audience gets into the swing, hoot'n and hollar'n, down home vittles, all you can eat and drink, it's indoors and really a great time. Food, chicken, ribs, bread, corn and salad plus strawberry shortcake for the end. Beer, wine, soda, milk etc for the drinks. Gets us most visits and never gets old to us.

We did this show in 2006. The food was pretty good, entertainment was also good. The only problem we had was the story line went WAY over the kids heads (my boys were 7yr. and 3yr. at the time)..so that lead them to be a bit bored! I also didn't feel it was worth 2 meals on the dining plan! Dont get me wrong, it wasnt a bad experience but not something we will do again!~

Those pics are great!!! :) Love the look on your wife's face. Priceless! :)

Well, I have always had a dream to go to Hawaii... so I think we might just have to try it. I am going into our first very well knowing it won't be our last. So I think I will go ahead and make the reservation. Even if I chose to cancel later on down the road. My kids are really taken with the dancing (as my daughter loves to dance and a strong beat) and my son is really impressed with the fire baton twirling. I told hubby he will enjoy the half naked dancing women. ;) lol

I didn't even know that there was a story line!! :) I am curious to know if there is food throughout a lot of it? Basically something to keep the kids into if bored.

I just pulled up some videos on you tube and asked dh and I guess he would rather the Luau. Again, try anything once. We aren't really into the country pioneer style. I hope that my parents and 14 yr old sister come next time around. They would enjoy it Im sure. Perhaps try it next time around. :)

We did this on our Sept 2006 trip and enjoyed it. We are e 6 adults, We thought it was fun. The fire dancer was awesome the guys where impressed:thumbsup2 We are thinking of doing this again in Sept 2009. They take your picture before dinner. And the Poly is beautiful,

Story line.... is very simple. Young lady comes back home to her Aunt, and they show her all the different dance styles of the islands.

Its all you can eat... so they keep bringing more chicken and ribs as long as you can keep putting them away :scared: Or.... I didn't get a photo of the salad, fruit and pineapple but we were so hungry we cleaned the plate before I could get my camera out. You might also be able to ask for more fruit to keep the kids busy... but the show is pretty much all action...so most of the kids we sat near all had fun watching.

...
but not something we will do again!~

I think the food is worth 1 credit and the show is worth 1 credit.... so looking at it that way, I think it was worth the 2 credits.

I loved it, but not something we will do again either.

It was like eating in the castle. Some things you just have to do once! I felt the same way about Artist Point, LOVED IT, but once was enough... at Disney prices  :rotfl2:

I should start a new thread... expensive things you've done at Disney? Would you do it again or was once enough? And was it worth it?

CRT eating in the castle___ YES we did it!___Worth it!___Won't do it again
Narcosees at GF___YES we did it!___Worth it!___Maybe?
California Grill___Yes we did it!___Worth it!___Do it again!
Hoopy Due Review___Not yet
