I read some where a thread on sending a package ahead of time and I read that UPS doesn't deliver directly to the resort. It somehow gets sent to Disney system as a whole :confused3! Anybody know anything about this? I was going to use UPS and wanted to make sure. The same thread mentioned that FedEx was the only one that delivered directly to the resort. Is this correct?

We leave 5/12 for VWL so I was wanted to send a pkg w/some snacks, extra clothes and toiletries. Thanks for any info.

I always just use the post office I think maybe priority mail. It's cheap and goes right to our resort.

DH ships our package via UPS to the resort from his work.

It is always waiting when we get there.

We do put

ATTENTION ARIVING GUEST XXXXX
WALT DISNEY WORLD POLYNESIAN RESORT
XXXXX SEVEN SEAS BLVD
LAKE BUENA VISTA

and our ressie number on it.

I check it the day before we leave & print the thing that says it arrived.

If you are arriving on a Monday or Tuesday (or Sat/Sun), don't forget to plan for that when you ship.

Thanks for the tips. We do arrive on a Saturday so I thought I'd send it on that Monday before to be delivered by Thursday or Friday. We'll probably use UPS although our FedEx driver is so nice. Maybe I'll ask him about it - he delivers pkgs for my DH at least 2 times a week.

Using the USPS, UPS, and FedEx web sites, you can calculate costs. It was much less expensive to send UPS Ground, which surprised me. I usually send USPS Priority. I think that UPS Ground will be less expensive if it is a heavier package. The UPS web site also can give a delivery date, which is handy when you need it to be there, and tracking. I sent it on Tuesday, and it arrived on Friday. We arrived on Sat., so it was waiting.

FEDEX and UPS packages go directly to the resort. We shipped a case of wate, package of diapers, package of wipes, and juice boxes and the box was waiting for us when we checked in.

We order some autograph books that were being sent US mail and paid priority shipping for the retailer. The retailer used US mail, and the hotel front desk said that all US Mail goes to a central location and get distributed that way. So our 2-3 day priority package took 1 week to get there.

I would like to know if you wrap the juice and water in something to make sure that they wouldn't bust on the way. Thanks

Just allow an extra day or two if using UPS. Packages seem to be left behind in their warehouse quite often for me.

I'm curious about this too - we're not sending juice or water but am concerned w/cups of applesauce/peaches.

safetymom: Thanks for the tip - perhaps I'll send it on a Thursday or Friday instead of Monday.

No we did not wrap it. All we did was put the case of water in a cardboard box, and the juice boxes were in a cardboard box already, then in the big box. It weighed 45 punds when we shipped it.

Thanks for the reply !!!!!!

It cost us $35. But knowing that bottles of water go for $3 each at Disney, it seemed well worth it.
