To Rent or Not to Rent

We are thinking of booking through David's rental for next June. If his web site says its $880 for the week, is that all we pay? I've read that there is a higher charge if you book between 7-11 months, is this for renters as well or only dvc members? Also, if there is no housekeeping daily, can you still get clean towels if you go ask for them and pick them up?

Also, when we were considering David's before we decided on the other company, I chatted with a representative and asked about additional fees and such. The only thing they said was that they are based out of Canada and your bank might charge a currency conversion fee, otherwise, the price is the price shown, no other fees.

I've rented using points from folks here on the DISboards. All three times, it was easy and everything went well. It's the only way we could ever have considered a studio at BWV for the Food and Wine Festival!

We'll be staying on rented points next December. I've been lucky to find a few very helpful owners on this site and another one. Because we have our hearts set on a VGF studio the week before Christmas week, I began the process early. I've paid 50% as a deposit, and once the reservation is set, I'll pay the remaining balance. There is a contract in place which we've both signed, stating that if the owner cannot secure a suitable reservation, the money will be refunded. I'm not too worried about this, as she seems very on top of things. I feel so fortunate that I found her!

There is no way we could have realized this dream of staying at the Grand during Christmastime (and for my mom's 75th birthday) without being able to rent points. If it all continues to go as well as it has so far, and I expect it will, I think it'll be the only way I'll stay at Disney in the future.
