Hi there,

(I posted this in the DVC bit as well - I hope that's not against the rules!)

I have a big decision to make! We are planning a trip in November (4th - 18th) and need to choose...

Because we are in the UK and the deals are different here, for various reasons the 2 options below come out around the same price. But I have never rented DVC points before, don't know much about it and that's why I'm looking for help.

We are choosing between: booking through Disney, at OKW Studio, 14 nights, 14 day park hopper tkts and free dining
or
Rent DVC points for Value Studio at AKL-JH, paying for dining and 10 day MYW tickets.

What are the pros and cons of renting DVC points? I know you don't get free dining (hence adding it into the quote) and you don't get mouse keeping. Is there anything else?

My partner is very worried about the risk of renting points, but I saw the dvcrequest link on here - has anyone worked with that company to secure a ressie? We would never be able to afford 2 weeks at AKL this year unless we go DVC.

I would love to stay at AKL, partner doesn't mind either way, so please just clue us in about the pros and cons of renting DVC points. Thanks!

Pros are that you are staying in deluxe accomondation as for cons I dont have any as Im a DVC member and love the fact that I can stay at many different resorts.

To rent points for this stay at AKL in a value studio would work out at 138 points

I'm considering renting points for BCV for this summer but am really unsure as I've not done it before, can I trust my money with a complete stranger and what if I need to cancel? I'm not sure if my insurance would cover it :confused3, one things for sure we can't afford the rack rate prices for then .

Hello wdw_nutz,

We think there are more pro's when booking your holiday direct through Disney in an OKW Studio when compared to renting points, adding the dinning plan and booking only 10-days of MYW tickets.

We had two holidays last year, one using our DVC points at AKL and SSR in January and one booked in November through Disney with a 15-night stay in an OKW 1-Bed with entry to the parks and dinning each day and by far the best option was booking direct with Disney.

We would look to book again while they include free dinning.

But if money is not your first priority then maybe it should be down to where you would rather stay, OKW or AKL. Have you stayed at either of these resorts before, if not then ask the question for pro's and con's on each of those Resorts?

Good luck in your choice and have a great time.
