I keep my seat upright until after the meal service on the way home then recline half way!!!
I do not recline on the way to Orlando. What do you do????????

I am a not to recline person :) But admit that if someone reclines in front of me and this does not give me enough room I recline too. Sort of a domino effect.

On long haul I too decline to recline, unless the person in front does so.

On short shuttle flights I usually reserve seat 1C, to avoid any problem. When I've been unable to get a row 1 seat, I have been known to "re-arrange" the seat in front of me into the upright position - I always seem to land the seat behind the only one on the plane who wishes to recline on such a short flight, on these occasions!

I don't recline.

I know what it's like when the person in front reclines - so I wouldn't like to cause the same problems for the person behind me, even if they were a child.

The space you get is tight enough as it is!

NO TO RECLINING!!!!
It is the one thing I hate about flying.
Whenever someone reclines the seat in front of us, it's always a struggle to get out to the loo etc and then they're the ones to moan when my kids tug on the back of their seat to try and get themselves out.
Nothing worse that trying to eat a meal that you are practically wearing!!!
So come on everyone, sit up straight, it's better for your posture!!

I don't recline

At 5' 4" I'm not particularly short but I find it very uncomfortable with my seat reclined.

I don't recline either. I just landed this morning and spent the whole 8 hours with the person in front of me deciding to recline the whole way for the whole flight. I'm quite small so it didn't bother me too much, only when they served the food and I couldn't lean over the table far enough and had to be careful not to spill the sauce down me!! I didn't recline my seat though.

Another Vote not to Recline!!!

As we all use sign language in our family, its very difficult to sign with the person infront of you reclineing their seats, we usually try to get bulk heads because of this!.

Going out I don't recline - sitting upright is more comfortable.

On the return leg I will try reclining if the vain effort to get some sleep (but after the meal service)

If someone is inconsiderate enough to recline during meals I have no problem broaching the subject with them. The same to the little brat who keeps kicking the back of my seat and its parents do nothing to stop it.

We have pre-booked seats on the Virgin flight for our trip in Feb and the seats are in the last row of the front economy section (row 37), there is a galley or loo wall directly behind us, will we be able to recline ?

hi yes you will we were in the same seats on our last flight, there is a gap behind your seats. so you can recline susie

 I ALWAYS get the people in front of my who recline as soon as the blasted plane's taken off. Even up in PE you struggle to eat your meal when the very nice considerate person in front has put their seat as far back as it can go.

I've been on flights where the cabin crew make people put their chairs up so everyone can eat, but this is the exception rather than the rule sadly.

I am rather childish and get my own back by whacking the back of the seat when I put my tray back, or Katie swings on the back when she needs one of her frequent loo trips.

I apologise to anyone who puts their chairs back to sleep because they're not good flyers, but a bit of consideration for the meal time on the return flight would be helpful.

Ooh, feel better for venting now:rolleyes:

My knees were usually butted tightly into the seat in front of me. If the person sitting there decided to recline, I would have had to told them to stop, otherwise it would have been too painful to endure!
We got round the problem by always paying for 'extra leg-room' seats. (Worth every penny!) Personally, we never recline ours during the flight out of empathy for the people sitting behind us.
Steve.

Just got off a PE Virgin flight where the guy in front of me (who was a really heavy guy) reclined so much that when my meal was brought to me the air hostess told him to put his seat up.

I never recline cos I know how uncomfortable it is for the people behind

On my last flight back from Orlando, the gentleman in front reclined as soon as the seat belt sign went off. Since he was part of a largish party, some of which were seated behind me, I didn't hesitate at all in reclining my own seat. What I couldn't believe was when the meal was served, instead of pulling his seat forward, he just sat forward on his seat and put his pillow and the one from the empty seat beside him behind him to prop him up!

A polite word to the FA was all that was needed to get him to stop reclining, but I'm really not sure what I could have done if he was asleep.

I wonder if it's the mentality of "It's there, so I'm going to use it"? You know - like people eating until they are sick at all you can eat buffets?

A swift prod in the back would probably have done the trick !

I seriously hope I have some of you wonderful Dis people in front of me on my flights next Feb, I have never yet been on a flight, long or short haul, where the person in front didn't recline, and to be honest I have never been too bothered by it reckoning that if the seats have a recline function, then its there to be used, and the FA always make sure they are in an upright position at meal times in my (limited) experience.

I'm 6'3" but still manage most flights without reclining (although we have reserved front cabin or aisles on occaision).... I'm ususally too excited to sleep on the way there and too depressed on the way home!
