Hi, Ok I desperately need some help here, first some background - I am 42 and coming over from Australia for my first and probably only Disneyland experience (this is because we try never to repeat holiday destinations):sad2: . Hence why I am panicking about fitting everything in and making sure I get the most out of our 2 1/2 days. Oh and we are just travelling as a couple, no kids, although hubby would say I qualify for one, I have been driving him nuts with my Disneyland info :lmao:

I am wanting to have a luncheon booking at BB but am wondering if this will take up too much time, when I want to get so much done and am short on time. Can anyone tell me if it is really worth the experience and a must do and how long a standard sitting for lunch would take, I am geussing about 1 hour, compared to a counter service etc.

Also I have put down half a day but in reality we arrive at Lax at 7.30am 26th Feb, so by the time we clear customs, catch the shuttle we will probably have more time but I am worried about jet lag. We technically have missed an entire nights sleep, as we would of left 12.20pm 26th Feb the same day and flown for 14 hours.

Here are my plans, would love to have feedback

Tuesday 26th
After getting to hotel approx. 12pm head over to CA until jetlag catches us and then headback to hotel for much needed sleep

Wednesday 27th
Catch shuttle to Universal, then a city by night tour - probably late before we get back to hotel

Thursday 28th
MM - head to FL, then not rush around too much but try and take it all in but still get on most rides. Must see Innovations as hubby is fascinated with robot ASSIMO. See Parade of Dreams

Friday 29th (last day)
Sedgway tour at 7.30am CA. - 3 hours
Have about an hour or so to do a few rides
PS -BB????
Maybe head back to hotel for a rest.
Back to DL for more rides, dinner etc
CA for Electrical Parade
DL for DCTF, then judge how tired we are and still fit some more in before heading to hotel to pack and sleep.

Sat 1st March early flight out to Vegas-4 nights there, then 6 nights Steamboat Springs Colorado

Any feedback, hints or suggestions would be really appreciated.

You're hurting my head, only taking 2.5 days for DLR. :sad1: I promise when I go to Australia I'll spend lots of time there, if you'll add on days to Anaheim. :)

Anyway, I'm sure things are set in stone already, and I apologize for my outburst. :goodvibes

No, I don't think Blue Bayou is a must do. Not at all. It's super-cool to sit "inside" POTC, but for many the food is merely passable, for some the service is just OK, and the price is far too high for what you get. In my opinion.

Now if you had 5 days, then I'd say to go for it.

Oh dear, there I go again.

You might want to make sure that ASIMO is going to be "there" or functioning, or whatever else it was NOT when I dragged my family away from Tomorrowland-proper and up that ramp in December. Of course, they ended up spending over an hour of (my) time (ha ha) in there because it's Land 'o VideoGames. Got some fun pictures of my son playing Guitar Hero, but other than that, bleah. So try to find out if the robot will be up and functioning on your trip before getting as amped as I was in December...

Brrrr.. Colorado in February?

thanks bumbershoot, the real reason for the trip is because we love to ski, and as we run our own business, long holidays are impossible for us to have, we just have about 3 small ones a year. So I managed to hijack the ski trip and throw in Disneyland and Vegas. Hubby is insisting on Universal, othewise I would of scored an extra day.

Thanks for the heads up on ASSIMO, do you know where I could go to find this information out?

Hi,

We did the trip from Australia last October (Sydney not Melbourne, but same 14 hours). We arrived in LA at approx. 9.30am, customs took a really long time (over an hour waiting in line) We arrived at DLH at around 12.30pm (we took the Disneyland Resort Express). We did go to DL in the afternoon, but only for an hour or so, I was too tired! We went back to the hotel for a nap, had some dinner, and meant to go back for the fireworks but fell asleep again, so the half day was pretty much a write-off. If you can get some sleep on the plane you might be OK, DH and I got none, but my girls were OK as they had a few hours each.

We went to Universal too, it was not bad, but we had 10 days all up - if I only had 2 1/2 days I would probably leave it out. We spent 6 1/2 days at DL and DCA and still missed out on stuff. Also even once you have a good night's sleep the first night, you still may be getting over the jetlag for another day or two, which makes packing everything in hard.

Definitely use Early Entry for Fantasyland, we did that and went on all the rides (except Dumbo which we did the first afternoon and IASW) in about 2 hours.

Have fun, I wish I was going back!!

I would say consider a PS at the BB if only to have an hour of quiet, relaxing time in the middle of a very busy day. We love to eat there. It is possible to do everything in 2 days if you use your FP's wisely. Please read Hydroguy's tips in the sticky above and you will be okay. We did everything we wanted to and rode some rides multiple times with FP's we had gathered using Hydroguy's advice. We were at DL over a holiday weekend so the afternoons were very crowded.

Have fun!!

A week at Steamboat sounds great, but 2 days at DLR & 4 days at Vegas??

After 2 1/2 days at Vegas I am SO ready to get out of there...if it was me, I'd do DLR an extra night & Vegas one less night.

Great idea to do FL first on MM day. & I would do Innoventions (sp) when DL starts to get crowded. Better to concentrate on riding rides & picking up FPs the first 2-3 hours.

Have a great time at Walt's Park. :thumbsup2

I agree with all that Aust states above (although i've never traveled from Down Under).

An extra day at DLR instead of 2 hrs. (commute) over & 2 hrs. back to an inferior 5 hour park. (Universal)

My DD and I just returned from DL and we ate at Blue Bayou (which is a must for us!) We split the Monte Cristo, because it's way too much food for one and at $21.95--way too much money to get two!

Anyways, we had 11:30 ressies, and we were in and out of there by noon. They're very quick. It's nice to relax a bit in the middle of the day, and well worth the experience. Ask for a waterside table, and make an early ressie (like at 11:30) and you'll probably get one.

By the way, we were done with everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) in a day and a half. Usually, even in the summer, we only do 2 1/2 - 3 days there. Get yourself a copy of "The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland" and follow the touring plans. You'll be able to do it just fine.:thumbsup2

I would personally say save the $ and time and skip Universal {just my opinion} and I can't give any advice about the BB but the dinner at Goofy's kitchen was excellent!!! Enjoy!

With so little time for disney I would for sure skip universal. I expected much more from universal being hollywood and all. What I got was a money pit, and got to see the closed backsides of studio sets. I could have just went anc looked at the back of a walmart lol. Also you pay around 20 per person for thier fastpass along with the cost to get in. I was big time dissappointed in it and ready to leave after maybe 3 hours.
