We are heading to WDW in just 17 days! I'm wondering if Pal Mickey is something that would appeal to my 2 1/2 year old? (I have to admit it appeals to her mommy!) Is it something that might occupy her for a few minutes in line or should I just save the bucks for something else?

thanks,
Amy

I wouldn't buy it and expect it to entertain a 2.5yo in line. His voice is hard to hear over the noise at the parks, and even if you can hear him, he's still hard to understand. She'd probably be as entertained by a Mickey beanie that does nothing (though you can provide a silly voice), and you can spend your savings elsewhere.

Besides that, he's heavy to lug around the park on top of all the other kid stuff. Not worth the money, IMO.

I ADORE this thing. However I don't know how interesting he would be to a child that young. A slightly older child will get a kick out of his games and such that annoy the *** out of me, but a "baby" might not understand the requirements of the game.
On a different note, I have never had an issue hearing or understanding Mickey. I think people do not read the manual. When he shakes you are supposed to put him to your ear like he is telling you a secret. I actually find him a little too loud at most times and have to keep him a distance from my ear. Maybe the batteries are low in the quite ones???
Anyway if you can afford it, buy him. If you and your daughter have no interest afterward, you can put him on ebay when you get home and chalk it up to a learning experience.:teacher:

As in meaning Mom's too find it more fun for a few days. certainly not worth the money, I bought mine used on Ebay. I took it three days to the park, harly ever listened to what he was saying. If he shakes I think we had to squeeze the hand to hear him talk, he would repeat if you missed anything he said by squeezing the tummy again. A lot of saying were the same old thing. He did tell some jokes, sang a song you were to finish. Stated where we were going as we entered lands and the attractions there. But I do not think my 2 1/2 year old grandson paid attention to Mickey at all during the trip. Pretrip he did a little,

I hooked him on my waist, but mostly along for the ride and then my 12 year old were pull him close if he started to shake or talk.
Just my experiance,
dianne

I wouldn't buy it for a 2 yr old. We bought one for our kids to share when DD was 4 and DS was 2. DD loved it and really enjoyed the jokes and tidbits of info about the parks. DS just thought it was a stuffed animal. He'd cuddle it for a few minutes and then give it back to DD. Our next trip was when DD was 6 and DS was 4. They both enjoyed Pal Mickey on that trip and on other trips we've taken since then (DD is now 8 and DS is 6).

A 2 yr old really won't understand most of what Mickey is saying. Your DD would probably be just as happy with a regular stuffed Mickey, and your wallet will be happier too.

Have a great trip!

Thanks for the advice,
I think we'll wait until next trip when DD will be 5 and DS will be 3 (or something like that). I just talked to MIL and she was already thinking about that trip, so I'm sure they'll be one!

Unless of course I see on in MK and can't resist it for myself..... Mom's gotta have her fun too :yay: !

Alert-
You can buy pal mickey for a fraction of the cost at the Premier Outlet mall.
I bought mine for full price at the Everything Pop store at pop Century, then almost cried when I saw him at the outlet. I agree with previous post about the age and stuff, but if you can still get it at the outlet it is fun for you too.
Getting a deal is always fun as well, Good luck:)

Thanks for the heads up! I don't know if I'll convince DH to go shopping, but if I can I'll definately check it out.

Thnaks,
A.
