To or not to rent points

Just a FYI... it is required by the POS that you must use a contract when renting points...just sayin

I've done 3 different rentals to 2 different people. I spoke to both people and was able to develop a rapport with each throughout the process. We employed no contract, and everything went well based on an element of mutual trust. If I am able to do a deal with either of these folks again, I would be happy to in a heartbeat, however I feel now as though a contract will be needed with anyone other than trusted renters.

And it is also a requirement that you notify MS that you are renting the reservation.

My husband and I rented points on this website before we bought into the DVC and we had a wonderful experience. Let me tell you though, it makes much more sense to buy into the DVC if you love WDW like we do.

HI All,
We have been a member of DIS for a while now and have done a lot of reading of trip reports and peoples comments. Looked at the Rent\Transfer section and it seems that a lot of people rent their points. What I was wondering is if you were to get a bad or problem renter does it reflect back on you as the renter with DVC.

We have only been DVC members for a couple of years now and would like to explore the possibility of renting out points any suggestions or what to look out for would be helpfull.

Thanks.

As you the landloard, your responcible for your tenents / your guests! not Disney's guest's. Any damages are your problems. In my opinion correct, we rented to many with great results Australia and 1/2 the USA. It's best to talk before renting, it's two way interview in a round about way. There's no shortage of those who want to rent, charge $11 and $12. More in better times, you want the ones who can afford the trip. You don't want anyone telling you how much there willing to pay, that tells me they have little respect for what we paid and less for the room. The next item and correct, from there side is someone taking there hard earned money and vacation time, so be kind, understand and be fair. The nice part is your repeat renting friends, and that's the best and most fun.

Been a renter for many years and no issues at all. Please don't allow a few bad apples to tarnish a majority of positive transactions. :goodvibes
