I'm currently saving up for a HS Graduation Trip in 2015. I need to save for this trip. I haven't been to Disney since 2010, and I really want to go back to Orlando before 2015. I need help! Any suggestions for saving money?

So far I...
- Return Cans & Bottles
- Collect change on the ground
- Put Christmas & Birthday money in bank. (Well, as much I as my mom lets me. She says "Save some for college"):confused3

Lets see...

Your goal is to go before 2015 and have 3k saved up. That gives you all of 2012, 2013, 2014 to save.(plus whatever time in 2015 before the trip) So about $1,000 a year or $83/month is what you need to save. Honestly, I'd babysit, mow lawns, rake yards, offer to clean up weeds, garden and just charge a rate that people would have a hard time saying no to you. Do this until you can apply for a job in 2013. Even with school I'm sure you could find something for 5-10 hours a week. Say $6hr after tax- is $30-60 week that you could put away into savings. It will add up pretty quickly while you're young and have no expenses. (Except for ones you create like getting a phone, car, etc) Plus once summer comes and you have a job, that's the main time to save up a bigger chunk. Heck, you could probably almost save up the 3k in one summer. I think by the time 2015 comes around you'll more than exceed your 3k goal. Good luck! Who knows maybe you'll have $10,000 by this time in 2015 and decide to put in down on a car....only time will tell;)

Thanks! Also I just found out that I can possibly get a job THIS YEAR. It won't be very fun, but hopefully it will save me enough money for the trip!

Besides, who ever said work was fun? Unless, you're working at Disney!

Don't your parents take you on vacation? Ask them to go to WDW.

You likely have neighbors who would love to hire you to mow their lawns. Make up some flyers and put them in your neighbors doors. We pay someone $25 to mow our lawn; we provide the mower. We have a large lawn, so smaller ones would charge less.

Do either of your parents work for a company that can hire you? My aunt officially hired me at her office, the summer after I turned 13. Which was the legal working age at the time. It was amazing to get that first check, and I actually saved most my stubs from that job. I mostly did filing and data entry on Saturdays. While she caught up on her work. Most bag boy jobs only require you to be 14 to work.

Do you have any kind of cooking skills? I used to make home made chocolate lollipops, using those plastic molds. Kids here and there at school would buy them from me.

One year in Middle school, I sold all my halloween candy. I don't like the "good stuff" like milk duds, almond joys, snickers, musketeers, and so forth. The day after, I brought some to share, but every one wanted some. So I started selling the better stuff for a quarter, and gum balls for five cents. I don't even know how much I made, other than the change weighed a ton.

And growing up, I used to always ask every one for pennies. Like my grandparents, and aunt, and mom. I hoarded pennies. Which turned into my first savings account with a minimum deposit of $50. $50 in pennies, weighs a ton. No one thinks much about pennies, but they can add up quickly.

In 9th grade, my aunt would give me $15 a week for school lunches. I think i spent like $2.75 or $2.50 so I had a little bit left over at the end of the week, including any days I skipped lunch. If you get a lunch allowance each week, take it to the grocery store and stretch it even further.

Try growing a vegetable garden in the spring and summer and see if your neighbors would want some. If anything, your mom might give you some extra money just so she doesn't have to buy it at the store.

Is 3000 bucks really what it will cost?

You might be able to cut a few corners and do it for less.

How many in your party will really be going? Could you drive instead of flying? Can you stay off site? Can you bring some of your own food into the parks?

These alternatives, combined with your saving, may help you achieve your goal.

Good luck with your plan.................and keep those grades up in school! (It may help lower your college bill a little bit)

$3000 is on the high side for just one person, are you going with friends? Sharing the room expense would cut down on the cost for you.

When my daughter graduated HS she went with 3 friends and shared the room at a value resort. They had alot of fun and it worked out great.

Good Luck with your vacation plan and keep your grades up in school.

Also you could do the College Program when you get into college, just a thought.

That's understandable. Maybe they will kick some $ in as a grad present and you can use the $ you save up to go sooner. You can do it for a lot less than $3000.00. Three of us went for 8 nights including dining and tickets at a moderate for that price.

Yeah, I'm pretty insane... :lmao:

Last year I visited my local Six Flags a lot.
