I am debating over starting Jenny Craig or some other plan like it. Can anyone recommend one that wont completely break the bank? Yet, still be effective? I need to lose about 15 lbs. I have tried it on my own and I just cant seem to do it. I know, the will power is just not in me. Especially since everyone else in my house eats whatever they wante whenever they want! Hard to stay away, ya know? Anyway, I tried Nutrisystem a couple of years ago and I lost 15 lbs doing that in one month. I have since gained ten of that back. Please, tell me what you have tried and did it work?
BTW, if you have any codes or anything to make any of the choices cheaper that would be great too!

I have no input on using them, but I am losing weight by just counting the calories of what I eat and drink. I have a small notebook and I write down everything I eat that day and total up my calories at the end of the day. I've lost 4 pounds since Sunday. I do have a lot to lose. I'm also walking daily. I can still eat anything I want but it's all about moderation. The best part is I don't feel deprived. It's definitely work but I'm learning so much about making better choices plus how much a true single serving of food looks like. ;)

I figured out how many calories I should be eating daily by my target weight goal and multiply by your level of activity. I've been eating about 250 less than I'm allowed. I am also drinking a lot more water which helps with hunger. The other best part is this doesn't cost me anything. I picked up a Calorie counting book several years ago but even that was only $5 at WM. I'm trying to change my eating habits for life.

I'm going to move this over to the W.I.S.H. Forum. Maybe someone over there can point you in the direction of a heathy-eating program that you don't need to pay to join. :flower3:

Well right now I'm just back to counting points with Weight watchers, trying to also lose 15 extra pounds. A few years back (after DS4 was born) I tried Jenny craig for a couple weeks. The food was really good, wayyy better than Nutrisystem. the portions were small though which for me is fine as long as it taste good. I lost 4lbs. in 2 weeks. I didn't continue because it was so expensive. Good luck whatever you decide. Maybe ask on the WISH board too for more help.

I am back to counting points as of Monday too and have lost 2.8 pounds!! yay!
I did Jenny Craig last year to lose 20 pounds for our last DIS trip. The food was good and I lost 18 pounds in 7 weeks before we went and then lost an additional 5 pounds in DIS from all the walking we did. I was on the dining plan and ate and ate and ate even dessert most days and I couldnt beleive I lost weight.
But back to JC info... I really liked the program, its not a lot of food, you also have to add in some of your own food like salad stuff, veggies with dinner, etc.
when I first started I was paying between 90-100 a week for their food. Once I got the hang of it I omited THEIR breakfasts and saved myself about 20.00 a week. and all I did for bfast was eat Multigrain Cheerios and a piece of fruit.
If you do join, try the Beef chow mein lunch, its soooo delicious!!!

Good luck

The wife and I started JC about 4 weeks ago... we chose it because it just seemed easy with most things already being prepared for you. It works and we are learning or re learning what our portion sizes should be in the biggy size world we live in. More is not always better.

Good Luck

For all those on Jenny Craig, I think I saw it in Costco last visit. I don't know exactly the particulars because I wasn't
interested, but it may be worth a look see. (this was not in the food section so you couldn't actually buy it there, but maybe get a discount?
