To Infinity and The Contemporary!

There was a brief show, in the mirror in the cyborlator - we had a visit from the Genie from Aladdin welcoming us! It was very cute but, unfortunately, I was so taken by surprise that I didn't even think to take my camera out (I can see Karen & Heather shaking their heads right now :sad2: ) Oh, well. :confused3

Shake:sad2: , shake:sad2: shake:sad2: . My camera is nearly always round my neck.. it very rarely gets back into its case.:rotfl2:

Next, we headed over to

DSCN1185.jpg

We waited on a little queue with a father and son in front of us. We were fetched by a CM and he suggested that we all share a pirate ship, since the ride is more fun that way. We agreed. The room had a glass wall at the back, which is where we entered. We took a step up into the ship - the room was shaped like the prow of a ship, coming to a point in the front. There was a steering wheel in the back and some controls to adjust the speed of the ship. The father graciously agreed to navigate for us, which left Frank, me and the son as gunners. Oh boy, do I like to shoot things! There are 3 pull-string cannons on each side of the ship which look amazingly like the cannons in Toy Story Mania. The cannons can be aimed side to side and up and down. All around the ship is a screen, which looks like you are out on the ocean. So here's how it works: The captain navigates the ship, looking for other vessels to sink. When he sees one, he pulls along side and the gunners have to just keep shooting until the opponent is sunk. When you sink an opponent, you get their gold. Sounds easy, huh? But while you are shooting at ships, there are other ships shooting a you. And while you are attacking a ship, another ship may come up and start shooting from another direction. This is why the gunners (that would be me, Frank & the kid) need to keep moving around between the guns to get the best coverage. At the end of the round, you get a chance to shoot and sink Captain Barbosa and the Black Pearl.

This is great isnt it! - I loved shooting those cannons, although you do end up with "helmet hair" if you play for too long:rolleyes:

Rick and I haven't done DisneyQuest and the thought of virtual rides make me feel very sick. But we must try this out sometime. The Pirates rides sounds like a lot of fun as does the jungle cruise.

It fills a whole rainy afternoon heather- you'd enjoy it.:thumbsup2 The pirates doesnt make me sick and I have terrible balance problems with my ears. eg I cant do star tours at MGM without feeling icky, but the pirates one at DTD is fine.:thumbsup2

Kathy - we did la Nouba years ago. I remember a hunky half naked man swinging up high into the audience off some red cloth strips...:lovestruc ... thats all I remember:lmao: :rolleyes1

Me likey hunky half naked guys;) :rotfl:

Can't wait for my KK on CC.:thumbsup2 ;)

Kathy,

Great report! I have always wanted to do this but my DS has always been afraid of clowns. :scared1: Too bad he will not be on the cruise with us so that you could provide clownphobia sessions. I know he is a strange person (we will blame it on his Dad) :lmao:

Isn't he a little old to be afraid of clowns??? :lmao: Was he afraid of Santa too? See:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coulrophobia

I just KNEW you would get me! :lmao:

I absolutely loved the Pirates thing - I just wish we had more people! They should put one of those things on the ship - we could have a Pirates tournament!

Oooo baby, me likey that too! But doesn't quite make up for the missing Tarzan in the Animal Kingdom. :sad2:

Yes, we are big fans of half naked guys. (Did I mention that I really miss Tarzan's show at AK???)

I loved it too! Do you think those little Chinese girls are really 16??? Disney claims they are... (Yeah and so were the Chinese gymnasts in the Olympics ;) )

Not sure if we will be at the end of the family beach, by the Heads Up Bar or over at Serenity Bay, but I definitely owe you a KK :thumbsup2

Oooooh, I likey a good not-so-young-but-still-very-hunky-looking-bare-chested-guy-wearing-spandex-pants-with-six-pack-abs-you-could-bounce-a-silver-dollar-off. Definitely worth the price of admission, especially when he flies over the crowd, wrapped in his red silk curtain-thingys. ;)
Are you sure you don't have at least one picture Kathy?? :goodvibes

I ALWAYS get stuck behind "Too tall Jones"! Always! Then pair that up with his equally tall toddler who wants to sit on his shoulders. That's the guy in front of me. Pfffft!!!! :lmao:

So quiz away Kathy. I was paying close attention. I've earned that Konk Kooler. Hey, wait a minute now....does that mean our KK's are a wash now? Noooooooo!! :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1

I posted the You Tube link over on the B.O.B. thread - enjoy! The music is so beautiful it will make you cry (his abs had the same effect on me!)

The freakishly tall guy I'm always mentioning/teasing is my next door neighbor at work. He is a DISer and a DVCer as well and I tried to convince him to come on the B.O.B. cruise but no luck. However, if he does decide to come, I will make sure he doesn't sit in front of you.

You owe me a KK on a souvenir cup - I owe you a plain old KK  .

Ok, all caught up now :thumbsup2

When we did DisneyQuest in 2000, the Pirates were our favourite too!! We did it at least 6 or 7 times, it was a blast!!!

Rob and I also love Cirque :lovestruc Well, most of them :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: La Nouba was our second Cirque show and we really enjoyed it! We sat first row Section 203 and loved our seats!

Interesting stuff on the clowns Kathy!

I personally get a little creeped out by clowns  I think Poltergeist and It did it to me :lmao:

Looking forward to the rest and I'm with MG....bring on the quiz...I will sit close to Nancy so I can copy off her paper ;)

Hey Cass - thanks for reading!

Our seats for Cirque were just on the other side of the sound booth from where you guys sat. Awesome seats!

Not everyone likes clowns, it's true. My clown character is pretty non-threatening and sort of looks like a big doll. I've had a number of parents tell me that their kid had been afraid of clowns in the past, but they weren't afraid of me.

If you KNOW about the quiz, you must have read to the bottom so I owe you a KK on CC :drinking1

Hiya Everybody!

So after a busy day that included shooting little space aliens in MGM, shooting at pirate ships in Disney Quest and being thoroughly entertained at La Nouba, we were very hungry and tired. But hungry won out, so we headed over to Raglan Road for our 8:15 PM dinner reservation.

Raglan Road is a REAL Irish Pub, or as they say "Built in Ireland, then plonked up and plopped down in Orlando Florida." That's right, they actually built the place in Ireland and brought it over piece by piece. (Although they claim that the bathrooms were made in Wisconsin . Is Wisconsin famous for their bathrooms???) The pub/restaurant portion consists of two rather large rooms with a bar area (tables with open seating) just inside the door. There is also an outside section as well as a fish & chips quick service restaurant. Here's a picture of one of the 130 year old bars:

Here is the link to their very amusing website: http://www.raglanroadirishpub.com/

We have been to Ireland on several occasions (Frank 2 times, me 3) and we can attest to the fact that this place has the look and feel of a real pub in Dublin, only MUCH bigger! The pubs in Ireland tend to be very cozy and not very big. Even though Raglan Road is on the largish side (hey, this is Disney after all!) they have still managed to maintain some of the intimacy by the way they have laid out the rooms. When in Dublin, we highly recommend the Literary Pub Crawl, which takes you to all of the watering holes of Ireland's finest writers and even provides some live theater along the way.

We were seated in the in the main room, where the musicians and dancer perform. We had a lovely table along the outer edge that was positioned so that we could both see the stage without craning our necks.

Frank seemed a little overwhelmed:

But managed to locate the Beer Flight:

Tink helped me sort out the menu:

In no time, we were being entertained by the house band, Tuskar Rock:

DSCN1203.jpg

Unfortunately, they were missing one of the usual performers who does most of the singing and also plays the bodhran (an Irish drum). But we were treated to some excellent fiddling and singing. We were also treated to some incredible step dancing, courtesy of the lovely Danielle (who was wearing a RED dress;) ) she spins around a lot and it's really hard to get a good picture of her:

Oh, I almost forgot - there was food too! We started with some very yummy muffin/rolls. Then Frank had Cashel Salad (mixed greens with crumbled Cashel blue cheese dressing, bacon, croutons with a herb seasoned chicken dressing.) When in Cashel, don't forget to visit 'The Rock'.

DSCN1204.jpg

I opted for an appetizer, Chicken Lickin' (3 chicken skewers on grilled zucchini with a Dalkey yoghurt peppercorn sauce) and a side order of crispy onions. MMMM good!

DSCN1205.jpg

Of course, we had to have dessert! Frank had a berry (not sure which kind) tart:

I had Triple Your Pleasure (white chocolate mousse, dark chocolate mousse and little, tiny chocolate shake!) Note the Bewley's Tea bag on the left, my favorite Irish tea!

With our tummies full and our feet 'tapped' out, we were finally ready to call it a day. On Thursday, we were headed for Epcot and our last full day of vacation :sad1:

As usual, Raglan Road provided a very enjoyable dining and entertainment experience!

Thanks for reading!

Everything at Ragland Road looked really good! I will have to make sure we go there sometime soon! Great report!

Why yes, yes we are Kathy.:thumbsup2 Actually the Kohler company is well known for their class A fixtures and workmanship. See? We are good for something besides all our breweries that moved out long ago and the cheese that California is trying to claim from us. :rotfl2:

Franks salad looked amazing and looks like Tink helped you make a good choice with the appetizer. Of course, that dessert always catches my eye! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

The entertainment is especially fun. Also for beer/ale/lager fans, their tap choices are quite a treat! (Smithwick's on tap is worth the trip for me! :thumbsup2 )

I didn't know that Kohler was based in Wisconsin (I replaced all 3 of my toilets with Kohler in the last couple of years.) I forgot to mention that they pipe a recording of Hal Roach, a famous Irish comedian, into the bathrooms so you can listen to jokes while you take care of business! "You know it's summer in Ireland when the rain gets warmer."

Yes, he said it was quite yummy and I loved the little colander they served it in. My dessert was very nice - just enough (as if there is such a thing as too much chocolate! PFFFFT! :lmao: )

Isn't he a little old to be afraid of clowns??? :lmao: Was he afraid of Santa too? See:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coulrophobia

That is so funny because he was not a fan of santa or the Easter bunny. He told us not long ago that it always creeped him out that we would allow a stranger to come into the house and leave presents so when he was enlightened he was actually relieved. He is a strange child (takes after his Dad's side of the family.):rotfl:
