To Infinity and Beyond - Becoming a Better DopeyBadger (Comments Welcome)

Racing a mile is hard! A great effort - sorry you didn't get the time you wanted. Good luck with your second attempt!

I do like your solution for not having mile road races nearby, but it sounds like that organization might need to re-measure their course 🫣

see, that is why you shouldn't look too closely at a favorable run result. What you didn't know wouldn't hurt you!

6:05. 4th fastest mile. Was sub 6 through the 1200m mark (4 min) and then just over 6 in the last 400m. Pretty windy and a little chilly. Confident on a calm day I’d probably have it.

Great job on your mile attempts! I find it one of the most difficult distances to pace. 4th fastest mile time is a great accomplishment even if short of your goal. You’ve been doing a lot less mileage this past year and one does eventually start getting slower as they age. Hoping that neither of us have hit that age threshold just yet though 👴🏻👵🏻

Thanks! I think the Sam Wilson costume lends itself more to the Sam Eagle face shape. Because it would still allow for the iconic brows, hair tuffs, and beak. The classic Captain America could be done, but because it's more of a skull cap, it would cover many of the iconic Sam Eagle face characteristics. Because of Disney costume rules, I would make the head like the Hei Hei head I made. Fabric hood covered with features where your face is underneath the character's face. As long as you had the iconic Captain America shield, and maybe some over the top America flag paraphernalia then I think you could pull it off.
My incredibly simple plan looks something like this.

Long sleeve light blue shirt from a previous runDisney race to simulate wings underneath a Captain America tech shirt. I don't care which version since it will clearly be Captain America. Ideally, I find an inexpensive toy shield for Cap as well. I would probably skip the helmet altogether.

My bigger challenge is figuring out how to pull off the face. I like the idea of trying to recreate the facial features, including the eyes and tufts, et all over a hat and feel confident enough it will stay on during the race itself. If I do it, my plan is to do it for the 5K. I have Star Wars related plans for the 10K and the Half is still up in the air. I also want to prioritize comfort above all else for the Half. It's why for this year's Disneyland Halloween races, I abandoned all race shirt costume plans in favor of my best hot weather running shirts. While I have run half marathons in those shirts, they don't deliver the moisture wicking I "want/need" in hot weather.

My other trick is trying to pull this off as inexpensively as possible. The 10K costume was expensive enough. I can't convince myself to go all out for a race costume that I might only wear once. Well that and I don't trust my craft skills. Which are so rough that when I ran the 2017 Dark Side 10K as Jedi Knight Prince Phillip, I had a friend make the cape and print "Once Upon a Dream in a Galaxy Far, Far Away" on the back.

This was our family's second trip to Disney World for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Last October 2023 was our first MNSSHP (link). We've spent the last 10 years doing runDisney weekends, but our first MNSSHP was a game changer. Less restrictions on the costumes, and more time spent wearing the costumes (1-3 hrs vs 8 hrs). After last year, G felt like we should do two MNSSHP instead of one. She originally proposed doing two sets of costumes, but as time passed it became apparent that we were only going to be able to finish a single set. So we focused our time and attention on our Amphibia costumes of Anne and Darcy (link). It took us 7 months and roughly estimating 750 hrs to complete these costumes. About 3x the effort compared to the Mike and Marty Wazowski costumes from last MNSSHP (link). The goals for the costumes were, more! More everything, and more difficult. One thing that stood out about last year's Monsters Inc costumes is that they looked great during the day, and so-so during the night. The party is dark around 7pm. So that's 3hrs of daytime, and 5hrs of nighttime. So the Amphibia costumes needed to be good at both times of day. That's why we incorporated nearly 3100+ LEDs in the Anne costume. To make it bright. After all that hard work, we were excited to show them off!

Outside of the Halloween party, this trip served as a family vacation with Steph's family. Her mother was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in the summer of 2023, and has been progressing well through treatment. She felt strong enough not to need a wheelchair this time around. Based on my count, I believe this was G's 14th trip to Disney World. So let's see how it went!

Tuesday, October 15th - Flight to Disney World!
Our flight was scheduled for 4:30pm out of Milwaukee on Southwest, and then the flight home was scheduled for Wednesday of next week flying into Madison. We rented a minivan to get to the airport and then dropped off our car at the Madison airport. The Amphibia costumes alone took 3 checked bags, and 2 carry-ons. Collectively, everyone had one checked bag, one carry-on, and one personal item. So there were 21 total bags including my BIL's golf clubs. Needless to say, it was a lot of bags to fit into a minivan. It was tight, but we managed to find a configuration that worked.

We got G out of school at noon, so that we could be on the road at 1:00pm or so and arrive at the airport around 2:30. A little less than an hour before we left we got a text message that our flight had been delayed until 7pm. So thankfully we hadn't left yet. G and I spent the time working on some math homework.

We ended up leaving around 3:30pm. We made good time until we hit the central Milwaukee area. The GPS kept changing the desired route, but didn't tell us why. Eventually we figured out why. There was a massive backup in traffic because of an accident that appeared to cause a car fire. They had the interstate down to one lane instead of four. So that cost us quite a bit, but thankfully we left with plenty of time to spare and arrived around 5:15pm.

The airport itself was uneventful. The costume checked bags were interesting because apparently they were too light. All under 20 pounds. So the attendant attached an "empty" tag on them because he said the workers could get injured when working with them when expecting them to be heavier. I was concerned that the carry-on with all the batteries might get flagged, but it was fine. Got some snacks and water, and then we boarded. We were in the mid-Bs on Southwest's boarding, and we got one of the last set of three seats to sit together.

Watched the latest Mission Impossible film on the flight. Think we landed around 10:30pm local FL time. G and I took bets as to how long it would take us to get to the rental car pickup location. I said around 11:30. But everything was super quick. I think we ended up getting there at about 11:10 after getting all the luggage. We were concerned about getting a rental vehicle because Alamo had contacted us a few days earlier saying they didn't have a supersized vehicle (like Grand Wagoneer) because of the recent hurricanes. Locals do rental vehicles when their vehicles are ruined by floods. But they had a single Grand Wagoneer waiting for us when we arrived. It took a bit of work, but eventually we found a packing system that got all the bags into the car. So then we were on our way to Saratoga Springs.

We were given a room in the Grandstand at Saratoga Springs. It's our favorite building choice because of it's proximity to all of the amenities. I think our room # was something like 8326. It was right next to the elevator, but the noise was minimal. We had a two bedroom, with BIL/SIL in king room, FIL/MIL in double queen room, and me/G/Steph in the living room on the two pull down beds. It's got a decent kitchen space as well with fridge, oven, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster. Additionally it has in room laundry. Downside is only two bathrooms.

A nice and easy day with little to no plans. So everyone was able to sleep in a little except BIL who had an early morning tee time. Most of the family headed towards Publix in the rental vehicle to get groceries for the trip. I stayed back at the resort so that I could check on the status of the costume pieces. I had done the best I could in packing the costume pieces in the five bags. I was most concerned with the Darcy helmet and the Anne hair.

The Darcy helmet had some minor damage. One of the axolotl horns was bent, but because it's foam I could convince it back into shape without too much effort.

IMG_8861.jpeg

The back port on the Darcy helmet was also damaged, but it just took some Gorilla super glue and it was as good as new.

IMG_8862.jpeg

The Anne hair suffered some minor cosmetic damage as well. But it was 98% in tact, so that was a relief. Just a little super glue, and it was reattached.

IMG_8866.jpeg

The next concern was the Anne tennis racket. It also only suffered some minor cosmetic damage with a knick on it. Nothing to fix there. The LEDs worked as normally.

Screenshot 2024-10-26 at 11.40.24 AM.png

The Anne torso armor has some minor damage to the blue piping. Some of the places which had previously been glued together had popped open.

IMG_8863.jpeg

IMG_8864.jpeg

IMG_8865.jpeg

But the LEDs in the torso armor worked as normal, so there was no strong desire to fix these small seam pops.

One of the knee pieces on the Darcy leg armor was a little loose. So it took a little super glue to fix that.

IMG_8867.jpeg

Lastly, the velcro on the Anne shoes were coming off in some places. So I ended up sewing those back on. Took about an hour but it was worth it.

IMG_8868.jpeg

So all in all, only some minor cosmetic damage, and most everything was easy fixes. Nothing major needed to the LEDs so I was super pleased with that. Interestingly, the box with the soldering equipment was opened up inside of one of the luggages. But TSA did a great job placing all of the items back in the luggage as I had, and so nothing had additional damage because of the inspection. It took hours to pack, and a few hours to repair everything, but the time was worth it knowing the costumes made it to Disney World in tact.

So back to groceries, everyone returned with their haul. In all they spent about $700 on all the groceries. From memory, they had gotten enough for all the breakfasts (5), lunches (5), and dinners (5) for our stay in Saratoga Springs. So in total 15 meals for 7 people is about 105 meals, or about a little less than $7 per meal per person. Which is easily less than what we would have spent on meals purchased from quick service or sit down.

After groceries were settled, I'm pretty sure I was still working on the costumes, and everyone else when to the hot tub at the smaller pool. Despite it being mid-day there wasn't much competition for pool seats. Which is abnormal. It was our first sign that there just didn't seem to be many people at the resort. About the time I finished working on the costumes, is when everyone was done with the pool and ready to head to some minigolf. So everyone got dressed and we headed out.

Last year we golfed at the Swan and Dolphin Fantasia Fairways golf course. Which is a pretty difficult mini-golf course that has holes of 40-75 feet. It's less of a classic mini-golf with weird fun things going on. And more so sand pits and challenging curves to navigate. So this year, we decided to head to the Blizzard Beach Winter Summerland mini-golf course. Steph and I did this course on our honeymoon in 2010. So it's been a while. I can't say I remember it at all at this point.

It was a quick and easy drive from Saratoga Springs in the rental and we were there around 2:30pm.

Screenshot 2024-10-26 at 11.55.32 AM.png

IMG_2950.jpeg

We ended up choosing to do the Winter wonderland course. You could tell it was a little old, but it had some nice holes with little tricks in them. The holes were really forgiving with the cups that were concave. So it would suck up your ball if you got it close enough. Of the 18 holes, 17 weren't overly challenging, and nothing like the Fantasia course. That's all but the toboggan hole. That particular hole (#6) is a par three. The initial putt is uphill, with a small opening (maybe 9-15 inches) that you absolutely have to get through. On other side of the opening is a toboggan loop that spits your ball back at you. Additionally, the uphill isn't completely flat. It seems to aim right down to left. So it's not even a matter of hitting a straight putt at the right pace, but reading that slight curve correctly. Suffice to say, we all struggled with that particular hole. The 7 of us on the par 3 shot 5, 8, 12, 5, 4, 3, and 8. And between you and me, I think there was some stroke shaving on the 3 and 4 scores.

IMG_2963.jpeg

The game wasn't without a friendly wager. G and bet her uncle that she would lose by less than 20 strokes. If she did, then he would buy her a new stuffed animal ($25 or less), and if he won, then she would buy him a sleeve of golf balls at $25 or less.

IMG_8873.jpeg

Gigi's final score was 46 and her uncle was 41. So she won the wager. I ended up with 47, Steph at 56, SIL at 61, FIL at 45, and MIL at 56. I'm just saying, I wasn't a part of G's group, but I found it highly suspicious that she scored a 46 and beat me by one stroke. But that's a discussion for a different day.

After mini-golfing, it was 3:30pm and we decided to head to the Disney Outlet store at the premium outlets. Last year we went to the Disney outlet that was further away and found some decent deals. I'd say the selection at the Disney outlet was underwhelming. Nothing that I saw that was a great deal or a must have. There was some generic runDisney stuff. G did find a fun Mei Mei hat from Turning Red.

After the outlet we headed over to Disney Springs to do some shopping. We wanted to park at the green lot, but the driving from the outlet forced us into the orange lot. There was lots of confusion and some heated words exchanged between driver and everyone else. Ended up the only way to get to the orange lot was to drive back towards Saratoga Springs and do a U-turn. So there was some discussion about bailing on going to DS, but I convinced everyone it was maybe a 10 min diversion, and was still worth doing. Eventually we made it.

I think we just headed to the World of Disney store. Did some laps with G, but I don't think we found any must haves. We went to the Marketplace Co-op with the multiple stores. G found a new Stitch/Angel with snacks (churro or dole whip) and really wanted it. Thought that might be the stuffie she'd get for the mini-golf wager, but G ended up buying it herself. I also really liked the Halloween knit sweater for G, but we didn't end up getting it. We left DS and headed back to the room.

I think we had burgers on the grill that evening. Then we headed over to AKL to do some resort hopping. We went into the store at Jambo house, and found a perfect stuffie. It was a sloth backpack that makes it look like he's hanging on your back. So I convinced G to get it and to make BIL pay for it as part of the wager. It was $30 instead of $25, but she sealed the deal.

They had some games setup in the lobby that G played.

IMG_2969.jpeg

Then we headed towards the outside area to see if we could find any animals. It was around 9pm, so it was hard to see anything, but there was a night time safari going on, and they spotted a zebra. We headed back inside. BIL and FIL were still working on some drinks at the bar, so G and I headed to the AKL arcade.

I'm not sure if we've ever been to the AKL arcade. G really wanted to do a vlog of every arcade in Disney property. She had been talking about it for weeks. So as a compromise, we would go to the arcades and then rate them ourselves. From most of our trips, the Yacht and Beach club arcade ranks near the top from memory. The AKL arcade is a definite contender. It had vehicle games, it had the nice air hockey table with multiple pucks, and a Dance Dance Revolution type machine. From memory the only thing it was missing was a pinball machine. So I think we ended up rating it as a 4.25/5.

Thursday, October 17th - Disney Springs, MNSSHP!
After a glorious 10 hr sleep, I felt well rested for the MNSSHP! The goal was a pretty easy day for everyone to save energy for the party. At some point it was decided that we'd go back to Disney Springs, because there was still some shopping that needed to be done? We considered driving, but then decided to walk instead. I didn't think it was a great idea, but went with the flow. We ended up taking the unadvertised walking path from SS to Disney Springs. To clarify though, the image below it not 100% accurate, as the entrance to DS on the west side doesn't go in that back entrance. That's a cast member only, and only an exit for guests. The entrance is in front of the Cirque building so you have to walk around to the south side of that building.

1729967656954.png

Normally we drive to the Congress Park area, and then take the short walk over to the east side of Disney Springs. But then Steph was saying that the goal store was the Fantasia x Pleasing pop up store. I think it's a collab with Harry Styles? I didn't think there was anything special. Pretty limited choices for the space of the store. We went to the M&M store next. Nothing special.

IMG_2974.jpeg

Screenshot 2024-10-26 at 1.30.19 PM.png

They had planned on making a candle at Bowes, but the staff member was clearly sick and was not somewhere we wanted to be for an extended period of time. We checked out the line at Gideon's (too long), and then headed back to the Marketplace Co-op to check out a sweater SIL was reconsidering. She didn't end up getting it. We left out of the east exit and walked back to our room. It was a nice trip, but in my opinion was the wrong choice since we covered about 7500 steps (3.5 miles) prior to a long night of walking.

Screenshot 2024-10-26 at 1.30.32 PM.png

After returning from DS we ate lunch, and then started getting ready for the party. That took a few hours. The goal was to leave around 3:15pm. So I think I ate lunch/dinner around 2pm, and then spent time slowly moving each of the costume pieces into the trunk of the rental to make sure I didn't miss anything. It was around 2:45pm that I finished loading the car and then got on my under outfit. I'm pretty sure we left on time around 3:15pm and made our way to MK. MIL, FIL, SIL, and BIL were all dressed as some of their favorite Disney vloggers (Mammoth Club, and Adam Woo).

Next - Thursday, October 17th - Disney Springs, MNSSHP! #2

Thursday, October 17th - Disney Springs, MNSSHP! #2

Unlike last year's MNSSHP, we didn't have reservations at Steakhouse 71 at the Contemporary. That allowed us to park the rental at Contemporary and then take the easy walk over to MK. So instead, this year we drove to the TTC. Got parked at TTC, and then finished dressing in our costumes. It was about 4pm as we made our way to security at TTC.

IMG_2981.jpeg

The first hurdle was security. You can interpret the Disney costume rules as best you can, but it's not until you get to security do you find out what is and isn't acceptable. There was a guy dressed as the devil from the Mr Toad ride, and separately King Triton from Little Mermaid, and both of them had their tridents confiscated. But we didn't have any issues. The security let us walk on through without question and security told me nice costume and enjoy my time at the party. Steph did get stopped at security for her back pack. I had a go-pack that was possibly the issue. It had some tape, extra batteries, and then a screw driver set. Took a bit, but eventually she got the all clear and we headed towards the monorail.

There's definitely going to be some meshing between the two parties, but one or the other, we were standing waiting for Steph and a family with small children asked for a picture. This was the start of the same speech I gave to everyone who asked. I asked them to acknowledge that I didn't work at Disney and was in no way affiliated with them. They agreed, and then we'd take a picture. Probably had 20+ groups of people take pictures with us over the two parties. This circumstance was unique though because after doing it, the grandma offered me a $20 bill and said you all have to stand here for so long in the heat. I obviously declined. I think she thought we were like the unofficial people you'd see in like LA or something hustling people for pictures. I'm not really sure what she was thinking. But either way, it was a nice gesture that we declined.

The monorail was fun because my costume was too tall. I knew it would happen. So I just had to take the helmet off for transport. We arrived at MK, and then walked to the ticket gates. I think we got in around 4:35pm. So it took about 1:20 hrs to leave SS to getting into MK.

The wrist band was tricky for G and I with our costumes, but we figured it out. I believed we veer'd to the right and headed to the treat bag area. G gave the DJ a friendship bracelet. I forgot to mention it earlier, but G and SIL made 100+ friendship bracelets with a bunch of different phrases on them. Then handed them out to cast members and other guests when warranted. The DJ switched to a Taylor Swift song after getting his bracelet. He seemed stoked. They had the Bowler Hat guy from Meet the Robinson's so we snapped a pic.

Screenshot 2024-10-26 at 2.05.45 PM.png

Goal #1 was getting a silhouette. We got silhouettes when G was younger, and we thought it would be fun to get one in her Anne hairpiece. So we made our way over to Liberty Square. One thing that wasn't surprising on the walk over was the number of people complimenting the costumes. But what was surprising was the number of people who recognized the costumes. When we dressed as Mike and Marty Wazowski, it was a little surprising how few people recognized us for who we were and especially G. So I had prepared G that even less would know us from Amphibia. But that wasn't the case. The other part of that was how enthusiastic the people were when they recognized us. Like a life moment fulfilled to see someone dressed from their favorite cartoon. So that was pretty cool.

We got to the Liberty Square silhouette area, and got in line. The two cast members doing caricatures freaked out because they loved Amphibia. I think they REALLY wanted us to choose a caricature instead so they could draw Amphibia because they were superfans. They almost convinced G to do it instead of the silhouette, but Steph said no. The silhouette took a bit of time. I think it was probably 4:50-5:30pm. But it was worth it.

IMG_9072.jpeg

Afterwards, we made a short walk over to a picture area nearby on the bridge between Liberty and the center hub. Arguably it seems like this was the nicest camera we interacted with. We did a few pictures as a group and with G alone. The background almost seems fake the pictures turned out so nice.

This is also when we realized that Steph forgot her black shorts. :rotfl2:Because Sprig's body is pink, and he wears black shorts. But apparently Steph was cosplaying a naked Sprig... Whoops!

After getting some pictures, we crossed the main hub and went to Tomorrowland. G and the crew decided to ride the Peoplemover.

IMG_2983.jpeg

I stayed off the ride. While I waited, I got approached by loads of guests. Some asked for pictures, others asked for directions to the bathrooms, and others wanted to talk shop on how the costume was made.

I think after this, we decided to go to the Monster's Inc laugh floor. Had some convos in line with those around us. I think the conversations here centered around how long it took to make the costumes (7 months and 750 hrs). We also briefly turned on G's costume because one of the other guests wanted to see what the 3100 LEDs looked like turned on. Laugh floor was good. They didn't talk to us. We sat towards the back not to disrupt others views of the performance. The Marty wasn't very good. Too "baby talk" for me. The cast member asked us what cartoon we were from because she couldn't remember.

After Monster's, I think we took the secret passage by Tomorrowland Terrace to get back to Main St. My MIL's #1 goal was the parade, stage show, and fireworks. So she wanted to find a good spot on Main St to hang out. She settled on the south side of the circle hub since the Powerline dancers came out there, and the parade approached from the east side of the circle for an extended view on the diagonal. The parade was scheduled to start around 8:15pm, stage show around 7:30pm, and fireworks at 10:00pm. So I think we sat her down there around 6:15pm or so. About 2 hrs before the parade started. I thought it was a little excessive to waste 25% of the party time sitting in a spot to watch a 15 min parade walk by. But everyone's got different goals for the party.

So we left my MIL and headed towards Fantasyland. My memory is hazy on what we did there, but the next picture I've got of us was at the Tea cups at 6:40pm.

From Fantasyland and the tea cups at 6:40pm, we were in Frontierland watching the Cadaver Dans at around 7:03pm.

IMG_2994.jpeg

Since we finally hit 7pm, it meant we could turn on our costumes LEDs and LCDs because it was dark enough to see them! So we sat down for a minute and turned everything on.

IMG_2995.jpeg

Got some oohs and ahhs as we turned everything on. Looks like we headed to Adventureland afterwards and found Jafar with no line. So we decided to meet another villain. He's got such interesting mannerisms. The cast member did a good job of seeming uninterested, which I would expect from Jafar.

At about 7:30pm we made it back to Main St. I think this is when Steph went and got two Stitch Halloween Popcorn buckets. We also got some pictures while on Main St (officially and unofficially).

These pictures were taken around 8pm, and then it was time for the parade.

Thursday, October 17th - Disney Springs, MNSSHP! #4

It's hard to remember everything specifically, but the parade started at 8:15pm in Frontierland. Then it made it's way to Liberty Square, and then down Main St. The headless horseman comes first. Since the horse is so quick, it's to Main St in no time (like 8:17-8:19pm). So once the headless horseman leaves, then some photopass people come out to get pics to entertain you.

IMG_9202.jpeg

Then a few minutes after that, Max dressed as Powerline and a group of dancers come out of the spoke of Main St circle hub on the southwest side. They head down Main St with a dance routine. Once they get to Main St where the stores are, then they allow guests to join them in the street for the dance party. So if you stand where we were (closer to the circle hub), then you don't get that. If you stand to the north, west, or east of the hub circle, then you won't even see the Powerline dancers at all.

Around 8:33pm is when the head of the parade made it to our spot.

Steph thought our costumes were a big hit. The cast members gave us lot of good interactions as they passed by. She took a video, so we could see all their reactions as they rounded the corner to see us.

After the parade was over, we headed back towards Adventureland. I think BIL/SIL headed towards Big Thunder while the rest of us did some pictures. Found a photo set for 20,000 leagues under the sea.

Saw the Hitchhiking Ghosts.

Then did some pictures on the bridge around 9:30pm.

I think somewhere around here is when a cast member stopped us and asked to take a picture with their official phone. They seemed like middle management. She said she wanted to show off our costumes to her leads because they'd love to see them.

Timestamp was incorrect here, but sometime around here was when we got a picture on the bridge from the main hub to Adventureland. It was with Yzma from Emperor's New Groove.

If I had known she was doing that with her hands, then I would have replicated it because that's a common Darcy pose.

As we walked towards the hub we came across the fireworks about to start at 10:00pm and decided to stop for them. This was around 9:45pm. There wasn't much competition for spot and we were in the center hub just south of the mickey statue. Had some guests come up to us and ask what type of LEDs we used. They thought EL wire, but I explained we used the 450 LED/m because it was brighter. Lots of people were impressed about how bright our costumes were compared to other peoples. The fireworks were fun.

Afterwards, we had planned to head towards Haunted Mansion. So did everyone else apparently because it was crazy busy. The path to Fantasyland was temporarily closed because the fireworks and the wind. But not long after it opened up. We had to skip Haunted Mansion though because it was too busy. Steph asked me what else I'd like to do, and I said we should head towards Pete's Circus tent where Donald, Daisy, Minnie, and Goofy were. I think it was around 10:45pm by this time. The line was 30min long. The characters liked our outfits. As did the cast members running the line. They asked if it was purchased or made, how long it took, what it was made of, etc. Goofy even borrowed the tennis racket to get some practice in.

Felt like the ducks and Annes were plotting something.

As we left the circus tent, we knew we were running out of time and headed towards Main St to catch Jack and Sally. As we made our way, we ran into Pluto just walking around and he wanted some pics. Poor lonesome Pluto.

Then as were passing the exit of Tomorrowland, there was another photopass person we stopped at.

Made it down Main St, and made it to Jack and Sally. Only to find that they close the line at 11:30pm. We made it at 11:32... Boo! With that we decided to call it a night and head back to our resort. We got about 3 bags full of candy on treat trails and they were hardly a focus for us.

In review, I was disappointed with our pictures. I felt like we needed to do more. I also felt like we were too inefficient with our movement. We bounced across the park multiple times and wasted time. This party was more focused on the parade, fireworks, and stage show. That's not a bad thing, just not what I would prioritize. Thankfully we had a second party. If this was our only party, then I think I would have been disappointed. Lastly, people were dragging towards the end of the party and the Disney Springs trip was catching up with us.

What did work well? The costumes were a major hit. They also held up for the entire party with zero issues. The cast members were awesome. We got some good pictures. G and I had a great time talking to people about our costumes and about Amphibia. I think quite a few new fans of Amphibia were born after seeing our costumes.

We had the second party to rethink our strategy for a few days.

We made it back to the resort and then headed to bed. Looks like I was in bed around 1:16am.

I'm so glad to see they traveled well and you didn't have to do any major repairs. And how cool so many people recognized you and appreciated all the work that went into them! Can't wait to hear about the second party.
