I think a perfect marathon race is very similar to what @garneska described above. Miles 1-13 should feel very easy. 14-16 you need to start working harder and focusing more. 17-22 is hard and requires full concentration. 23-26 you just hold on for dear life and ignore everything else.
This sounds very very very familiar.
