I'll be the dummy to ask, what's WC (cause in Canada that would likely be Wind CHill and if 37 is an actual temperature-that's too cold for my expectations of Florida-and all of my outfits that involve skirt/shortsfrom T+D to WC
Race - Current; Old
5k - WC of 37; T+D of 92, 88
10k - WC of 37; T+D of 91
HM - WC of 37
M - Rising in temps???

Of course it's still better than the current temps here -13 F-no joke!
I guess I am going to need to find some more throw away gear.![]()
WC = Wind Chill. Once the Temp+Dew gets too low, then it isn't as useful as a measure of "how if feels" anymore. Then I switch to wind chill. So, yea a 37F wind chill projected for each of the races at the moment. And from experience that 37F wind chill in FL feels colder than a 37F wind chill in WI. I think that's because of the proximity of the ocean, but I don't know for sure. I'd say just be prepared.
I second this. I was totally unprepared for the temps/WC we had for the 5k/10K in 2015, nothing to discard and no real layers. The horizontal balloons in the start area for the 5k should have been an indicator to stay in the car longer but this being our first rD 5K we weren't sure how the corral system worked (still ended up going to the wrong corral and starting later than we had to) so we went to the staging area early. Once in the staging area we probably stayed in the porta-potty a little longer than normal (as gross as that is) just to try and warm up. The rest of the time we were huddled by what must have been the retreat tent for the wind break and some crowd warmth. The 10k warmed up a little and we figured out we could stay in the car longer but with this being my wife's first rD race I wanted her to experience the excitement of the staging area so we ventured out earlier than we had to again, without layers/anything to discard. We were all pretty miserable. I am not going to make that mistake again this year.
Wow, those are some awesome running temperatures...go fast!

Samesies! I had some, but now I need more. Race wise that's still tank and shorts for me though.
I'll take that down to just below 30 wind chill. Might slap an arm sleeve on, but otherwise I'm good to go!
I guess if I was as fast as you I would warm up more too. But since we are walking the first 3 races I think I will be in tights, skirt, tank, hoodie, fleece headband, gloves and possibly a jacket, lol!
Before my first January race, I used a backpack blanket to stay warm in the corrals before the race began and then turned it into a backpack during the race. I then used the mylar blanket they gave me in the corrals the next morning before discarding it, and then saving the post race blanket for next time. Well this year, I couldn't find the mylar blankets after the Star Wars Half at Disneyland so for Avengers, I bought a fleece hoodie at Wal Mart to discard after hours of use knowing that it would be donated to charity. Remembering how many people whose lives were in turmoil after the hurricanes and fires made the decision so much easier. I found that using an actual sweatshirt or jacket worked much better to keep me warm instead of trying to rearrange the mylar blanket to a comfortable position. So true! Compare the costs of the vacation, race registration, flight, food, transportation, etc. to the extra few $s to buy some really cheap easy throw away clothes. Worth every penny to overdress when you're just standing around. Nice to stay comfortable before the race starts.
LOL! Those were already in my suitcaseI added 10 packs of hand warmers to my packing list!

I run hot too...shorts and a singlet down to -3ºC (27ºF or so) and I'm good if racing. I will start with arm sleeves, which I will actually pull off during the race as I warm up, and I also wear compression socks. Throwaway gloves (that I almost never actually throw away) are a must. Hand warmers are always a good idea as well.
LOL! Those were already in my suitcasetraditional Canadian Stocking stuffer!
