To hop or not to hop

I also have been trying to decide on hopping. I was told in another thread that you can upgrade your tickets at DW to include hopping. If this is in fact true, I plan on buying plain tickets, and then if one day we decide we want to hop, we will upgrade the tickets that day to include hopping. That is, of course, if it is not too near the end of the trip, in which case it would not be cost effective. Decisions-decisions!!

I would choose hopping. Especially with little ones.

I know that I'm in the minority here but, I'm not a fan of park hopping. I think going back to the room to rest, swim etc. is very time consuming. IMO it's easier to just sleep in and head to the park in the afternoon. Say until closing and do it again the next day. This works great for me and my little one but, I have been in the slower months. I guess if you visit during peak season it might make my plan a little more difficult. I like to take the relaxing approach as opposed to the commando style.

Just my opinion :cool1:

My whole thought is to buy just the base ticket if you're unsure about hopping. If, while you're there, you decide you want/need to hop, just add it on ! I don't see the point of paying for it beforehand if you're not sure you'll need it :confused3 .

I'd definitely get the 10 day with no expiration if you can. It is almost $80 cheaper than buying two 5 day MYW tickets :cool1: .

I can't decide if I should buy the park hopper option. This is our first trip and we have boys 2 and 4. I can't decide if we will be up for more than one park a day, I just don't know. We will be going in May and I guess it also depends a lot on what the hours are like. Also I am trying to decide if I should go ahead and get the 10 day MYW with no expiration and save it for another trip. Any thoughts?

I think the Park Hopper Option is well worth it.For example at Animal Kingdom people usually go early and they are done with that park by afternoon time,so you can head to MK for the evening.....Plus AK closes at 6 usually.I really think the Park Hopper Option is a must do!

I have three reasons why we like to hop:

1) We put a cooler full of pop, fruit and snacks in our car and enjoy it between parks. This little trick has probably saved us more money than the entire hopping option's extra cost.

2) last April we were only going to the parks for 1 day after a Disney cruise. We wanted to go to MK but McDonalds had rented the entire park out for the evening which meant they kicked us out at 6:00. Fortunately we were able to hop over to MGM and see a few rides and Fantasmic.

3) When our kids were little, we had to go to Epcot for just a few hours at time to prevent boredom. It was nice to go to one park in the morning and end the day at Epcot.
