Hi guys,

Quick question, I was thinking about getting a fridge in our room. We would only be using it for milk, soda, and other small items. Just wondering if any of you got one and thought it was a waste. $10 seems a little high to me. Just need a little imput. Thanks again this forum has been great.:bounce  :o :bounce:

Hi rygrmom,

I'm wondering the same thing. I was thinking we would only keep milk and the like so we'd just go with a cooler or ice filled bucket, but then I realised we would most likely have left overs from our dinners and such. Although any savings by keeping the leftovers might get eaten up by the 10 dollar fridge fee...ahh well. Not sure what we will do :yo-yo: Just having a fridge would be nice though!

Take a cooler! (Or buy a styrofoam throwaway when you get there.) There are ice machines in all hotels. Fill ziploc bags with ice once or twice daily, and you will have saved $70 on refig rental for a one week vacation. Then enjoy the money saved on a nice dinner out, or a special souvenier. :teeth:

(This has always been one of my favorite $$$ saving tips! ::yes:: )

We found that buying a little carton of milk (like Milk Chugs) and getting the refillable mug was better for us. It definitely didn't cost $10 per day for those things. So, if it is just for milk and soda, I wouldn't bother.

We never had leftovers. We usually shared meals to avoid the whole leftover situation. No one ever went hungry PLUS we saved money by sharing.

$10/day for a fridge is obscene. You can but one for $89.

One option is to go the cooler route as suggested above.

Another option:
Soda doesn't need refrigeration, just ice.
Juice boxes don't need refrigeration.
Milk boxes (Parmalat) don't need refrigeration.

Just keep a couple of each on ice each day and repack with fresh ice regularly.

We bought this from Walmart:

Actually bought it at the store, not online (but it is the same thing). We have taken it on a lot of trips with us! It is also great for the ride there. We had it in Pop Century with us in January! Had breakfast in the room every morning with cold milk and juice!

We have used our for camping trips, other road trips, for my Girl Scout troop's outings, and when I am entertaining during the holidays I use it for sodas and water.

I think $10 is very high also. We had a fridge for my mom's insulin last May at ASMu (it was free due to her medical need). It was the tiniest fridge! It was definitely smaller than the one in the Wal-Mart link. I don't think you could fit more than a quart of milk and maybe 4 cans of soda. I would go with the cooler option. I don't think those little fridges stay that cold anyway. Maybe the ones at other resorts are a little bigger, I don't know.

We do the cooler and keep soft drinks, water, juice and milk in it, refilling as needed. We bring everything from home except the milk.

If you buy your milk at Disney, make sure to buy it in the resort store, not the food court. BIG price difference.

Hi

As soon as the fridges went up from 6.00 and inched up we decided cooler, so much ice around, and 10.00 is too much especially when we stay 10 days!

Tip:
Bring some clear smaller type bags and fill with ice less messy
Making your own ice bags that keeps things cold!
