Hey all--

We are looking into the November 7th, 2004 4-day Wonder Sailing.. but the question of the day is: Does DCL still stop in Freeport or not? Any one have any insight?

Thanks!!
Kari

DCL's contract with Freeport expires at the end of 2003, so as of right now, the 2004 4-day trips will all have a day at sea. This happened once before, and they ended up renewing the contract again, so there's a chance that they may resume calls at Freeport. The current answer, though, is "no."

The December 14th 4-day was the last Freeport stop. I was on that cruise and didn't even get off the ship for that port of call. I'd much prefer a day at sea.

I too would prefer the day at sea rather than the day at FreePort.

Now I just wish they would make the day at sea be the first day so the ship isn't hauling tail to make Nassau. That used to be the itenerary during the inaugral year for the Disney Magic and we prevered it that way.

If it stops- dont get off the ship! We did and shouldnt have gone. We piled into taxi vans- took a long (scary) drive to the other side of the island just to shop at a smelly flea market. Use the time onboard instead.

I absolutly loved Freeport, we went on this really nice excursion to Our Lucaya and they had a beautiful pool and beach right there. Now as far as Nassau goes, if I NEVER go there again it will be to soon...I hated it there, it was dirty, people were pushy and I didn't find anything nice about that place at all (unless you are going over to Atlantis I would say stay on the ship there!)and this is from a person that lives in NY!!

I agree with you 100%. If it were my husband that cruised with me this last time, we would have stayed onboard. But my Mom had never been to Nassau before, so I felt obligated to take her to Atlantis. That was my third time in Nassau last year (only once by choice, really) and I never ever ever want to step foot there again.

our last 4-day had the Freeport stop....we would much prefer a day at sea, but the dates just didnt turn out the way we wanted....

The way the onboard booking agent described it to me on the July wonder...Disney only agreed to extend the contract 6 months and no more unless the government began work on an "intown dock" - she explained at that time there was no discussion on this dock and so it was very doubtful that the ship would continue to go there. I think bottom line, the government begs Disney to go there and once Disney said no then changed to yes - could they do that again - sure...they say they won't.

BTW - I didn't get off the boat either...but sitting on my veranda wasn't so great since there are so many gravel/rock processing plants at the port - very noisy.

Yes, as with many of the ports of call in this area it was very industrial.
