To film or not to film

We are having a custom wedding but we only have eight guests attending, that includes my two nieces who are bridesmaids. Because of our small number I don't think it is fair to ask either of our parents to film the day as I want them to be able to relax and enjoy our wedding.

Our only option is to use part of our $10,000 minimum spend on booking Disney's Videography. Have any of you used this service and were you happy with the results? Do you think it is worth the money?

Is there a website or can they send me a DVD with examples of their work?

Our other option is to forget about having our wedding filmed and just have the photographer. Did anyone not film their wedding and regretted it?

Thanks in advance for any responses

i'm not having a videographer at all...i just don't think i'd watch it afterwards and then i think i'd be nervous if i had a camera on me all day...it'd feel like i was on that bridezilla reality tv show...i know a lot of people do film their weddings, but we aren't going to. we've hired disboard favorite randy chapman to be our photographer, and i think his pictures will hold our memories enough...besides, i need to have a way to talk df into a disney vow renewal in a few years and if he's constantly watching a very accessible dvd of our actual wedding, that might not be possible...

we didn't want to regret not having our VR filmed but couldn't justify spending a lot of money either, so we're having a magic moment for $500 they do a 2 hour coverage. They also do a $350 package I think.
We had our wedding video'd in the 90's and even tho' we have only watched it a few times it's a lovely momento to see how we've all changed, and also there are little things that you don't take in on the day.

Hi Dee,

Do you have a link for the company you are using? Your package sounds more like what we need and more affordable. Did they send you any demos?

I really don't want to regret not having it filmed as I have been dreaming of a Disney wedding since my first trip in 1996!!

Thanks

We too are looking into video but alot of the companies i liked inot will not do the smaller packages for a custom wedding!! We talked to stan at stvs and loved his work but his cheapest for a cusotm wedding is $1600 and the package we wanted was around half that price but he only does it for the intimate disney weddings!

I've PM'd you with some more info (forgot to say no demo sent).

Sarah your reply got me thinking Disney do an intimate package that is two hours and its just over $1000 on the wish book. I'm going to ask them if we can have that package as six hours would really be to much. And $1000 is a lot better than the six hour package cost. They will probably say no but I will ask anyway.

there is also a ceremony only option for video thru Disney. It too is expensive, but it's the least expensive option I was offered for a custom wedding. I think it was $800, but that might be the VHS price, there's an extra charge for a DVD. The is only availalbe ( I THINK) in the WP as there are already cameras built into the walls so there's no need for a person to attend your wedding.

That sounds like the answer for us, I will defiantly be asking about that option as our wedding is at the WP. We only really want our ceremony filmed so we can look back on it when we get home.

We get assigned our planner on wednesday so I am going to ask too about that. We only really want to spend around £500 so about $1000 on the video

Let me know how you get on as we are still a few weeks away from contracting in.

Have a look at these as well , they are really cheap $595 for 6 hours is their basic but the samples look good. Not sure if anyone has used them before.

Alos we got a sample from seth cohen and he is $950 for all day! his sample was pretty good as well

We did not use disney videography but I will say I am so glad we filmed our wedding. I too thought maybe we didn't need it but the video came out fantastic and we have watched it many times since. I was not expecting anything much because I have seen other videos from people my home town and they are so boring but something about disney just makes it so magical. We were happier about it than even the photographer although we had a great photographer too! I would do it, even if you don't use disney there are others out there who will video for a resonable price. We used Kyla Feely from "A cut above productions"

i say look into a cheaper alternative even just for the ceremony. I can not say how much i am thankful we videoed our wedding. we have watched it so many times and its just something i think i can show my children someday. The pictures are great but having it "live" is cool as well.

We are getting married this coming august and i think we will do the video and photo.

My best friend got married back in 2004 back in our home state of NJ and every time we see her we pull out the video and just laugh... I want to be able to remember it all and to all have little video message from friends and family. I also want to have to show our children one day when we have them.

I didn't bother with video. It was an extra expense I just couldn't justify. At first I thought maybe I had made the wrong choice, and then our pro pictures came in and she had captured just about everything. :) Also, our friends and family ended up giving us copies of their pictures of our wedding so we really do have just about every moment from every angle! I don't regret not having a video at all, but I think it's a personal choice and you'll have to really think about whether it's something you'll miss later on.

Thanks for your reply Ember, we really are in two minds. In-fact there are quite a few options for our wedding that we keep going back and fourth on. We are really trying to keep costs down and as I'm sure your aware there are so many options that all add up. I'm sure our discussions will go on for a few more months yet :)

We had our day "video-ed". We didn't need anything fancy, just a video, so we were looking cheaper for $1000 (which most of you is hard to find).

We used Seth ( www.visualeffectsbyseth.com ). His package is very affordable. His edits are not fancy or alot of special FX, but very well covered and put together.

Sorry if this sounds a little commercial, but we watched our video over 100 times (at least) and never get tied of it. We couldn't imagine not having it (since we can't remember most of the ceremony ;) ).

I am having an intimate wedding and am considering hiring Disney to do the video because it is so easy to arrange. Did anyone else use Disney? And if so what was your opinion? Please PM if you have something negative to say because I am interested in all opinions.

Thanks!!!

we used stan from stvs for our wedding video & it was the best $ i spent having the video of our wedding, the music, our vows, my dads toast, our families loving messages on dvd is priceless to us.
