Is it worth it to fax your room requests to your resort? We did several years ago and got pretty much what we asked for but wasn't sure if that was still something that everyone was doing.

Bump. I am interested to know this as well.

I believe that I read that some resorts are no longer taking or going through faxes due to the volume received. We have usually gone and noted all of our requests on our reservation which I believe accomplishes the same thing..... steve c

This past April we did not fax anything to the AKL and we got everything that we had requested, the floor and trail and side of the building we asked for, not too far from the lobby, bunk beds, non smoking, everything. And the place was packed, so we were happy that we got all of our requests.

Is it worth it to fax a request? Well it only takes like a minute to do, so I think its worth it. The worst thing that could happen is that they ignore and you're no worse off that not faxing one at all. -Steph

I do - Generally I keep it simple kind and polite and don't ask for anything I am not paying for.

Mainly I like to remind them that we need a non-smoking room and prefer a non-smoking building or floor as my girls are very sensitive to smoking.

In the past I have requested things like first floor (CS) or north wing (CR) and requested a room one of 3 preferable longhouses at the Polynesian. I plan to fax the Polynesian next week for our trip and request non-smoking and again a room in one of my 3 favorite longhouses!

I list my requests by importance and hope for the best!

Knock wood with the exception of CBR we have always gotten a great non-smoking room!!

Just call central reservations and have your requests noted in your reservation. That way the room assigner will be sure to see your requests instead of matching up a piece of paper to your reservation.

You can also ask at the desk when you check in if all your requests haven't been met.

The proper place to put your requests now is in your CRO reservation. The faxes that go to the resort are now routinely thrown out. If you haven't put your requests in your reservation, call CRO, give them the ressie # and add your requests.
