My first trip, so bear with me!

I understand that WL is no longer accepting faxed room requests. (We are staying at POP) I also understand that the BEST thing to do is to have info noted on reservation through WDTC (they have our ressie). We have non-smoking, guaranteed connecting, and a request for a king bed in one of the rooms all noted on our ressie (at least for the first night, and I think for the rest we never got new confirmation for those....we booked first night room only and a second ressie for the other 4 nights)

We are aware that requests are ONLY that, requests. However, we would like to stay in the 70's building at POP and since we will be arriving late (11:00ish pm) I am a bit nervous about our requests. I assume that with the connecting rooms that our rooms will be pre-assigned and so it would do us no good to request a specific building on arrival. So, what do you think? do I call and add the 70's building request? Do I fax POP? Do I shut up and take what I get like a good soldier?

You opinion is wanted :wave2:

I would call WDTC and ask them to make a note on your reservation. I would NOT fax them. My cousin and his family live in Orlando. We met up with them during our recent trip and I was chatting with his wife about our trip in May. One of the women she is friends with works for Disney and has worked for 3 different resorts now (ASMo, CS and now AKL). She has said that they are overwhelmed with faxes and most of the time do not even look at them. The room assigners can get annoyed with all the requests and she mentioned seeing cases where they purposefully did not make efforts to honor requests from people sending faxes. The WL may be the first resort to say no faxes but it sounds like others may soon be following.

I guess it was not a problem when they would get 10-20 faxes a day but now they are getting hundreds of faxes. There is no way the room assigners can go through all of them.

Allison said several times NOT to fax a request. I asked her to ask her friend what was the best way to make sure we had the best possible chance of getting what we want. Her response was to have WDTC or CRO list your requests in order of preference on your reservation, to make them as general as possible and to include no more then 3 requests not including smoking/nonsmoking room.

Hope you have a great trip!!!

WOW! Thanks for that info Lollipop Mom. I did send a fax before our last visit to POR, but after reading your comments will no longer do so.

Thanks for the tip.

What Lollipop Mom posted is what I have been told by friends that work in Disney resorts for a long time now.

Basically they said, Enough is Enough. Way too many faxes were coming, hundreds each day, so much so most just ended up in the garbage, as there was no way they could sit and read them. Some were pages long.

I think a good thing got way out of hand. When they did read them some were during break time for amusement and not to actually use as means to assign rooms.

Contact CRO and then discuss your options at check in.

Hi!
This is not the first time I have read that CM's have told people they do not even look at the faxes, and this really puzzles me. The last 3-4 times I have been to WDW, the only request on my reservation has been non-smoking, and then I fax my preferences 4 days prior to check-in. When I get there, the CM checking us in usually says something like "we were able to meet all of your requests for you," and the room we are assigned is a really great room, exactly like we asked for.

I can understand how frustrating it must be, if they are starting to get so many faxes. I guess it just shows how many people are reading these boards, huh!:hyper:
