Go to 6 Flags.

We went to 6 flags(Eureka, Mo) last weekend and I don't think they've cleaned that place since '95. Everywhere you turned they had something that cost extra. I've been to small town carnivals that were better.

Anyway, we go to wdw every year and sometimes I might notice something that seems negelected, but I'm just spoiled, and my eyes were opened last weekend.

Don't get me wrong 6 flags had some good roller coasters and the lines weren't bad, it's just that I've come to expect more.

People I work with thinks wdw is a rip off, I guess it's what you value.

IMHO: Six Flags Great Adventure (NJ) is a pit. Bush Gardens Williamsburg was a total waste of money. Universal Studios Orlando was filthy (we were there 5 years ago, I have heard it has improved greatly).

Your point is well taken. WDW can easily spoil you. We've vacationed many places but keep returning to The World because it is the best all-round vacation for us in terms of entertainment, accommodations, dining, variety, cleanliness and feeling like kids again.

Barbeml, You said a mouthful when you said feel like a kid again. People ask why do you keep going back, and isn't that expensive, and my reply is "how do you put a price on making you feel like you're 12 again?"

10drum--My DH has an unbelievably stressful job with long hours and mine can be a royal pain. We were not planning a WDW trip until 2004 (we were there last fall), but I could tell the stress was really getting to him last month. So I just said "Honey, why don't we just go ahead and book another trip this year?" When we have a Disney trip to plan and look forward to, all the stress becomes more manageable and, as you said, that is priceless.

Disney is worth every penny to us--I'd rather pay The Mouse than a shrink!

10drum,
Thanks for making me laugh so hard. You said it in a nut shell. My DW and I have visited several 6 Flags parks and BG Williamsburg. We both loved BG and plan to return, as far as 6 Flags, well I will say this. Hands down no doubt in my mind I will take WDW anytime of the year, no matter what hours the parks are open over 6 Flags. Yes WDW does spoil you.

OMG! You're exactly right but I never heard it put that way. You're right on it! :smooth:

P.S. I bought into DVC this year...I guess that's sort of like putting my "Mouse/Shrink" on a retainer until the year 2042.LOL;)

Kevin, you should really enjoy csr, Say hi to Adrian at the pool bar, he took good care of me while we was there last month.

I'm not sure if we'll go back to a deluxe after staying csr, because our children are getting older and want to take freinds, and I can stay in 2 rooms at csr for about the same as one room at a deluxe.

I posted a very similar message last year after a free visit to Kings Dominion in Charlotte (a deal offered to all Chrysler vehicle owners in the area). Dirty, noisy, disorganized, yuck! Even for free we couldn't enjoy it.

We too went to Six Flags, St. Louis (which is actually in Eureka, MO and used to be called Six Flags over Mid America). We went last July, 2002. We also did the Universal thing in May 2001. In both cases, all we did all day is look around saying to ourselves: "This isn't Disney, it just isn't Disney!".

Six Flags is a total dive, they have go carts to ride (at an additional fee). They have a free fall attraction to experience (at an additonal fee). They have and ejector-bungee attraction to ride (at an additional fee). They even have a virtual reality attraction to experience (at an additional fee).

You could easily spend 3x as much cash there, than you would for admision to MK for a day.

We've been spoiled, that's all I can say. SPOILED!!!

And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Welcome windowsjb, we're probably neighbors, we live 60 mile east of Stl. in Il.

As a FL resident we go to WDW 2-4 times a year and always hear the same thing from family/friends "weren't you just there?". Those of you that mentioned previously that going to WDW relieves stress, allows you to forget the real world or is worth the additional money over other parks hit the nail right on the head. How can you even try to compare the cleanliness, entertainment, courtesy, transportation or value for your hard earned dollar? No other place that I have been can compete.

I agree Six Flags (MO) is such a dump:( My kids joked & laughed the whole time we were there about the bathrooms being dirty, the rides having paint peeling off, the employees being rude. It was such a joke. We will definately never go back to Six Flags.

If you want to go someplace that was just as much fun as WDW (in our opinion) was Branson, Missouri. We loved that vacation just as much as WDW & only spend about $1500.00 for 5 days.

Once again, just my opinion:)

We went to Six Flags in St. Louis for Labor Day a couple of years ago (after going to WDW in May). UGH!!! I haven't been to Six Flags since I was a kid and I won't be going back any time soon! It was NASTY. The workers were rude - all talking to each other like it was a big college/high school party and would not talk to us. They didn't check our restraints on one of the coasters and my friend's ended up being loose!!! Later that day, the same coaster had a problem where someone got hurt. Don't know if it was the restraints, but we were thanking God that we made it through.

The water in the water rides was literally skanky. It stank and wreaked. We smelled like it after we were splashed.

The paint on the rides was chipping off and the grounds were dirty.

We thought - well maybe it is because it is Labor Day and one of the last days it is open - but then I thought - this would NEVER happen at WDW!!!

you all are soo right about six flags over mid-america! I grew up going to that park and never really noticed how much it sucked until after our first trip to disney world in 1996. we used to be season pass holders there for years! our first visit there after the first disney trip; we all walked around the whole day thinking how nasty this place was compared to disney! we are all definately spoiled by disney!! and luckily so! The other poster mentioned Branson, MO. we have been there many times as well and enjoy it; but, that place can be a serious money pit!! You have to pay for everything you do. we have actually found that we can go to disney for much less than we can many other vacation spots...and there is absolutely no comparison to disney!!! we love it and will probably be going until we die.

We went to Six Flags New England with our two boys this past summer. My oldest is 15 and my younger one 3.It was the worst time we have ever had!!My youngest one was literally knocked down more than once by rude, swearing teenagers and my older son who has been to WDW at least 15 times hated it.We even had adults with a small child go under the ropes on one of the kiddie coasters so they could cut in front of my little one. Before I left I made sure to let the management know I felt.We will never go back (even though we love the coasters). We have bought DVC and plan on remaining loyal to WDW even though we live in NY.

We went to WDW last year and then USF afterwards. It was unbelievably disgusting. There was a poopy diaper sitting right on the sidewalk for hours. I was very disappointed in the kid area. (There wasn't a single ride, just some play areas.) We won't go back there until my kids are much older, if ever. Oh, and we've got the "you just went there" comments as well. There are SEVENTEEN months between our 2 trips!! Apparently most people think there are other areas of the country to be explored, LOL.

I couldn't agree more. We went to Six Flags Elitch Gardens in Denver and while it was clean I would best describe it as a cement parking lot with thrill rides. Never again. I don't think you could compare WDW with any other place in the world. It is consistently spotless and constantly being refurbished to a level of feeling brand new. The CMs are ten times friendlier than Universal's with constant attention to theming throughout the parks and resorts. I am grateful that they have the business sense to make cuts where and when necessary to keep things solvent during some very trying times that our country and the tourism industry has had to endure. I look forward to many happy memories being made there for myself and my grandkids' grandkids. If they need to cut back a few hour now and then to retain its "newness" its fine with me.

I know the feeling. We were at our six flags here in arlington, texas and I hated it. I wanted to be back at disney so bad. Who ever heard of paying $10 to ride 3 premier attractions with no wait

My Brother and SIL want me to "be a guide" for a trip to WDW summer of 2004.(their first) They said they were going to take the kids to Six Flags near Chicago to "get them used to it". I keep telling her it's just nothing like WDW. She kind of laughs and keeps saying it's good for them to get used to it. How can you explain it??? WDW for me is the most wonderful time I can have. I leave all my troubles at the gate and they stay there until I decide to "pick them up" on my way home. And then I'm already planning for the NEXT vacation there!!!

We're planning a trip for December and planning for it is my "therapy" getting through my "baby" graduating and going off to college. And hopefully "going" will be something special for DH and I now that we can go "anytime", without worrying about schools.

WDW should not be left off the hook for some of the things that have been let slide in the recent past. However, there is absolutely no comparison between WDW and other so-called ammusement parks. Carowinds (near Charlotte) -probably typical of most amusement parks -is just sad. The place is filthy; there's hardly any atmosphere of fantasy and fun there. The only reason we may go back is about halfway thru the summer they will give you season passes for the price of a one-day admission. At least that way DS can see Scooby Doo a few times.

You see what Disney has done -thru the excellence of that place they have raised the bar for every where else:D
