To EMH or not to EMH?

Our first park day is a Monday so CA has the EMH (7:00 AM) but since its our first day I am pretty sure the fam is going to want to hit DL.

If we do not use EMH that first day and instead opt for regular park opening (8:00 AM) what time should we plan to be in line? Our last trip we used EMH every day but our park days just worked out so DL was the first park anyway.

Personally, I’d definitely use the 7 an EMH and then hop over to DL shortly after it opens. The EMH at DCA is so nice and you pay a pretty penny for that perk!

I was in line this morning for DCA's EE.
As the CM's were prepping for opening, they were calling out that Early Magic Hour is ONLY for The 3 Disney hotel guest. There were several families finding out there is a difference between EMH and MM.
At least DL was also opening at the same time. So at least they weren't waiting an hour to get into a park.
However, they weren't too happy...

Disney should come up with signage to post in the Esplanade about the difference between the two.

@Geemo I have never done EMH at DCA but will this summer & wondered if there are specific lines for it at ECA ie. are they labeled for EMH or can you get in any line? How do you know if they are open or will open? Sorry for the silly question!

If you are staying off site, then EMH and EE are not applicable to you. Those are early entry perks to DL and DCA for on site guests only on alternating mornings (so not every morning at both parks). MM is a perk for anyone that comes with pre-purchased (not at the ticket booths), multi-day tickets (3 days or longer), and is only good at DL on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. MM is one hour early entry and can only be used once. So if your trip includes a Tuesday, Thursday, and a Saturday, pick one of those days for your MM. It can sound a little confusing, and there are always guests who don't read the fine print on their tickets. Thus the confusion at the turnstiles. Does this help?

Disney could post it all over the park, people still have to read. The confusion on EMH and MM is wide spread - but that being said people being angry cause they do not know the difference is silly, it's on them to figure this stuff out. When you buy your tickets it clearly defines Magic Morning.

Yes, you’ll see on the signboard above the line it will say Early Entry or something, and you’ll see no line and people moving right in. Don’t get into a long line, those people are usually waiting for rope drop.

They are usually off to one side or the other. Not in the middle

I would do the DCA EMH. Since it's only on-site guests, it's very useful.

The EMH at DL is less so, because only part of the park is open ,and it's shared with off-site guest's Magic Morning perk.

with the photography, there is a high % that Disneyland will open onto a rope drop Monday morning, this will will allow your family to be on Main Street and enjoy the fresh morning.....that is if your visit is not currently on the horizon.....about the same time you will be in DCA. I understand the family view that it is sacrilege to not visit Disneyland on the very first day of the trip. Also you will be fresh and all smiles for photo ops Disneyland morning. And everyone enjoys watching that clock as the first event in the morning, though with rope drop it is more about evaluating who the walkers, shufflers, runners and "what the..." folks in the crowd.

I need to figure my days out. Too. We are early risers but I’m not sure how early after a few days in a row.

Being an early riser helps. But all the walking for a LONG day will wear on you after a few days. At least it does me.
Our first day in the parks, the cell phone counted steps equaling 11miles. Not sure of the accuracy... But it felt like a ton of miles on my feet by the end of the day.

We have been here for 4days and they have been LONG days.
We hit the 7am EE at DL today, as well as all the other days too. Not sure if my group will be up for the 8am DCA EE in the morning?????
If they are fine, if not then we'll get a later start.

When we do not stay on-site, I have learned to do the Magic Morning (MM) at DL the first time we can.
By the end of a trip it hard to get everyone moving early enough for a MM.

When On-site we try to make it for as many as we can.
