Ok I have a bee in my virtual bonnet so....

"WARNING WARNING THIS IS A RANT"....Cover small childrens eyes. Do not attempt to operate machinery while reading this. Do not swim within an hour after comsuming this post. Do not remove the tag under penalty of law."

Can someone explain to me why vmk takes our rare items, puts them in the store until an inch of dust builds up and they are not worth a thing to anyone leaving us with virtually no rare BUT hands out these coveted dreams items so sparingly therefore creating a DREAM FRENZY.

Can someone tell me why these items could not have been given out in host quest OR host teleporter game like always? This weekend friends turned in to some kind of DREAM ZOMBIE only saying phrases like DID YOU SEE HOST YET...DID HOST GO THIS WAY....DID YOU GET EARS YET?

My opinion but I think this is handled badly. But then again Im not staff right?

One good thing........Sweet and I had alot of fun with fellow Dis'rs in Bears room. Made the time pass quickly.

But staff........plz make this fair to all who play vmk ok?

Over and out

The whole thing is rather insanity (and headache) inducing. But it's seemingly much like the real parks though and how they do the Dreams promotion. Difference being that in the parks, not everyone even is aware things are being given away, so you don't have 10s of thousands of people chasing down the Dream Squad every day. That'd be quite scary, actually.

I'm a bit bummed because I know I'm not likely to win anything. After tomorrow, I'll be lucky to get on VMK for maybe a couple hours each weekend only because my real life will be so busy. I can't sit around at my computer all day; I have a ton of work to do. I shouldn't have even been on as long as I was this weekend, as I already had a lot of things I needed to do. I do wish maybe at the end of the month, they would have at least something that's buyable just so we all can get a little piece of the month's magic. I've had a great time running my room though and chatting with people I didn't know before, though; that's the great upside of this.

And yup, I too got about 50 billion messages today, most of which were either "Has Host come?" or "Did you all get ears yet?" or "Did I miss Host?"But people are excited, so it doesn't bother me really. I do feel bad for the Hosts, though; they have enough people following them around (or trying to anyway) on a regular basis, so I can only imagine what some less-than-polite players have said to them in the past two days. Greed and gimmegimmegimme! attitudes are not becoming, people. They're really not. :rolleyes1

Sadly we are only into the second day of September and already the dream is becoming a nightmare...sigh. Hopefully the frenzy will die down and we can get back to normal VMK life. As for the dream items, I know this is how they are giving them out at the parks but I feel there should be a better or different way. Why not do it like the birthday pin, you log in you get a nice surprise!! Maybe change it randomly? Just my opinion.

Or also have HOST games where you have a chance to win some of the items. Anything that would reduce the mania by a bit, I'm all for. That would be a lot simpler than feeling like you have to be on VMK for 9 hours on a weekend day just to have a chance. At least then you could have a chance in a game; might not win, might not even get in, but at least you'd know X Host is in their room at X time and you'll have a chance to win one of however many dream prizes.

Just a thought, anyway. :wizard:

I totally hear you rob. This has to be the dumbest thing to come out of vmk since the releasing of flip hat (*which wasn't very long ago cough cough), and no but i just have this thing about staying in rooms for a while or just kinda going around vmk for some random reason. I Don't Have Time to just sit around "dreaming that I can get a new item. I think they are doing this so we have plenty of time to save are credits for the black-hole of credits the next couple of monthes. Look, the dreams things in the REAL parks are really quite, dreams. But dreaming about getting a virtual dream hat is just silly. There is a LOT of games that can easily be themed to this for hosts to do, but seriously there are just far too many people playing vmk and far too little hosts to give prizes. Probably about a fourth of the people playing vmk (excluding mules) will have this chance to have their little virtual dream granted. Why can't we have something that we can think about.. like a teleporter game.
I Totally see where you are going with this rob, and and behind you ALL THE WAY. oh and don't worry, I didn't swim within an hour of reading this;)

I agree with you totally on this. While I had a great time today passing the hours in bears room waiting for a host... I will not be doing that everyday for the rest of the month and I think its ridiculous as to how Vmk decided to do this.
I thought with them bringing back alot of the rare items and selling them for weeks in the stores that they were trying to make this game more fair. Then they pulled this and I'm not so sure.
I know its only been 2 days since they started this, but I really hope they will rethink how they are doing this Dreams month. The month just started and they'll have to sell some Tylenol in the emporium by the time it all ends.. With all the headaches this is causing.

Anyways congrats to everyone who's gotten their dream item or items and Good luck to everyone waiting on a Dream.

My Dream however came true 15-1/2 months ago when I met Rob... Hehe :woohoo:

I am already so OVER this month and it just started. How do they come up with this stuff? i still dont get it sometimes. :headache:

well let me play devils advocate on this a little bit. Not that you dont all make valid points.

But did VMK cause this kind of a reaction? Or did we?

The only real thing I think VMK is guilty of is not being prepared for what we would do LOL.

We are the ones who camped for EGAD I dont want to count how many hours this weekend. We are the ones asking if hosts have been here yet. We are the ones asking if you got any dreams yet.

If this promotion doesnt work out, then we share some of the responsibility for its failure. Not just some, half.

VMK's problem? They dont seem to learn from past experience how INSANE we are about this game LOL. If you tell us dreams are given out for 9 hours in a day, then guess what we will do for 9 hours that day. @_@

Not rocket science right :)

Look, the dreams things in the REAL parks are really quite, dreams. But dreaming about getting a virtual dream hat is just silly.

Acesurfercarter has a great point here. It took me a bit to realize it myself! When the Dreams promotion first started, I was content to just go around normally on VMK (basically playing games with my friend to earn credits for Halloween and then go to our rooms and be silly by trapping each other between furniture, lol). If a dream occurred, great! But if not, I wasn't expecting it.

However, I started getting caught up in the Dreams once I saw the castle suite and the ears. I saw the pictures on DIS and thought, hey, if they can win something, why can't I? I camped out in a room the first day even though I had vowed a few hours earlier that I wouldn't (I thought people that did that were wasting their time).

After I left that room without winning anything and actually stepped away from the computer, I realized all that I had to do in real life, LOL. The insignificant virtual item became nothing and I kind of scolded myself for thinking that it would make me that much happier. I just have to keep reminding myself that with my new schedule, even if I did win something, I wouldn't have the time to enjoy it much anyway! Plus, you can't pay the mortgage with Dream ears (LOL not that I have a mortgage ... or pay my own bills yet ...)!

Aengus also makes a great point when he says that we're the ones choosing to camp out for hours on end. We're the ones letting this get to our heads. In the real parks, it's difficult to track down the Dream Team as they are assigned to surprise let's say, a certain car of a certain ride at a certain time. You can't plan that. Here too, we are hoping that we can make a dream happen by ourselves.

I think as DISers, it is easier for us to take good out of this Dream month. Last night, a bunch of us hung out in SorcererDonald's room and played Disney character trivia, song trivia, and then just went all out crazy being silly about HSM. I know I met a lot of people that I've only seen on DIS and it was great to just bond with them, even if it is only virtually. If that is your expectation when going into a "camp-out" room, you will end the night feeling great! I know for a fact that when the Dream Squad time ended last night, I was actually not disappointed at all and that was a FIRST since it all of this started.
