To do EMH or not...that is the question!

I have been to Disney many times. In the past (a long time ago, when I was a kid, and didn't have to pay!) we would ALWAYS take advantage of the EMH mornings and never found it to be a problem. On our last trip (in August of 04) we mixed it up a little....going to some EMH mornings and skipping others, going to a non emh park for opening. We were there for 17 days, so we were not in any rush and knew we always had another day to see what we may have missed.

Now we are going back again for 7 days, and I have my plan all figured out...but am rethinking it as I ALWAYS do. (Dont know why I even bother really since we will take it as it comes once we get there.) Anyway...I just checked touringplans.com and it says ALWAYS avoid the emh park. I realize that everybody and thier brother (staying at a wdw resort) takes advantage of this option....but sometimes it is okay. (As long as I am not in a line waiting for more than 30 minutes)

On days we go to non emh parks I am always surprised at how many people are there....seems a lot of people have caught onto boards like this, and guide books...

This is what we have planned:
Fri 2/25- arrival day: MK (tradition) PS at CP. If we feel like it we will stay for parade, if not who knows!

Sat 2/26- AK - (not recommended) emh am. We missed a lot here on our last trip so we plan to spend the day. (also ESPN weekend at MGM)

Sun. 2/27 - sleep late and go to MGM eventually...skip fantasmic to utilize EMH pm

Mon. 2/28 -Mk day. We have PS at CP before park opens.

Tues. 3/1 - bfast at AK before park opens
Fantasmic dinner package.
no other plans...dont have to stay at either park...may got to epcot after bfast, before dinner.

Wed. 3/2 - kids have pirate cruise at GF...head over to Mk for EMH pm, unless it will be too crowded.

Thurs - 3/3 MK departure day.

So, do I try to change my plans now, or get there and play it by ear? ( I guess this is what we will do, but now I feel "locked" in due to reservations etc.) I am afraid with crowds I will be unable to reschedule....

HELP!!!

Instead of rescheduling I would go with what you have and play it by ear.
I for one don't do the EMH but that is because we don't have kids and we have also had better luck hitting a non EMH park early in the morning when they first open.

plan, plan, plan...and then be done with it. Part of the enjoyment is knowing when you should be done planning. when your plan is set dont give it another thought. Easier said than done, I know. You will be surprised by how much you get done on Saturday morning at AK. You will be done touring by 2, and then you have the whole day to catch anything else. Your plan sounds great. My family and I love early emh.

We are going to be there the same days as you (our friends leave on to go home on Thrus too, but we stay until Fri.)

I was just debating the same thing. I hate being locked in with PS also, but with a group of 10 I thought we should have some or we will be sorry.

What we have found in the past is except for MK there is nothing open to make it worth while when you have young kids. So we don't do EE for mornings except MK.

However I am considering the evening ones just because it is fun to be in the parks late. (might have the mom's take the kids back to the rooms or rotate this, depending on tried everyoen is.)

Our tradtion is to get lunch at CP the day we leave, but we are doing it differnt this year with our group.

Fri: arive. No PS since we aren't sure how everyone is going to be doing. Since we are at BCV we are thinking Epcot 1st day, maybe dinner at Beaches and Cream or someone on the boardwalk. (even Yatmans steakhouse if we are desprete enough.) I will call for PS that day depending on how naps go.

Sat: MK Lunch at CP, back to MK in evening if not too busy.

Sun: Epcot lunch at Itlay. Not sure evening. Depends on moods. MGM open late for EMH so maybe that.

Mon: MGM? (just missed ESPN weekend.) PS at 1900 PF so MK evening too.

Tuesday. Not decided, no PS made. AK open late.

Wednesay MK in the evening, CRT for dinner PS 6:45. MK open late for EMH that night.

Thrusday. Our friends leave. Last meal at Cap May, breakfest. Depends on what we haven't done enough of yet.

Friday our last day. Leave for airport at 5:30 so go to the park. Most likely MK.

Going to fit BB in when and if the weather is good. Lots of time for SAB if the weather is good too (I hope!)

We have a group of 2 couples (all 33 years old) with 2 kids each (ages almost 4 years old and 6 months old) and then my niece 13 and my friends sister 29. Last year we had the same group (no babies, pregnant mama's) and we didn't do enough for the adults so we are making sure we get enough Epcot time and Erides (since Mama's aren't pregnant now. :earboy2: ) I think we will be doing more spliting up.

I was feeling rather melencoly with the snow today (up to 8 inches) and my husband if off helping my brother get my newphew from the airport, (his car got a flat on the way) So I am home with the kids feeling feed up and overwellemed with the task of paking.

This thread has really helped life my mood!

I hope we get good weather and low crowds (at least Monday on!)

Where are you staying?

We have two rooms at the Wilderness Lodge.

The last trip we took I had everything planned out. Tons of PSs...and then once we got there the heat and humidity was SOOOooooo bad, that EVERYTHING changed...we called it "Our Change Of Plans Trip"...

I guess I will go with my first instinct and wait and see what happens...it wont kill me.....but this waiting might.......;)

You have to go with the flow. If I plan too much out (what ride when etc...) I feel like I am going through a check list and not enjoying the moment.

We stayed at WL (VWL for us, it is our home resort DVC) last year (Jan 2004,) we had great weather. The weather looks a little iffy right now, but that might change. I hear that the parks aren't as crowded if it rainy so maybe that will be lucky.

4 days to go. Where are you flying in from. We are in Detroit right now in the mist of a major snow storm. I need it bad! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Now for packing, that is what might kill me.
