To do afternoon tea or not to do afternoon tea...

....That is the question!

I have been debating and debating if we should do the afternoon tea at the GF when DH and I go in December. We will be on the dlx dining plan (I know the tea is not included in the plan... bummer) and was wondering if it was 1. worth the extra cost and 2. It would look like we would have an extra meal somewhere that we would either have to use or not use.

Thoughts anyone??

It's lovely, delicious and fun! I'd go for it and use that extra credit to add a (another?) signature dining restaurant to the itinerary.

Yes, it's so worth it. Why can't you do a TS for breakfast, afternoon tea, and a CS for dinner? It's not really a full on Disney style meal(aka too much food)- just a light lunch. It's wonderful. I did it on my last Dec. trip on the DDP and I can't wait to go back next year!

I have this planned for our April trip. My boys love tea and really want to experience the whole tea ceremony, but DH would rather have a press pot. Has anyone been allowed to substitute the coffee for the tea? Otherwise, I'll just order ala carte for DH.

Sorry, I have to be a dissenting voice here. I cannot recommend the tea.

We (two of us) went for High Tea. Time was in later half of afternoon (might have had something to do with it).

The tea sandwiches were so stale the bread was curling and the fillings were warm.

The server was either, new or sick. She was totally unconcerned about anything, including spilling the tea. (What ceremony)???

The scones were brought to the table before we were ready for them (being rushed is not a part of tea). Instead of returning them to the warmer, the server left them on the sideboard. When she returned them to our table they were cold, and the bottoms were crunchy.

The strawberries and cream were off flavour as if the berries were old?

If you really want to experience a nice high tea, take the drive to Mt. Dora and have a real high tea, in an English Tea House, The Windsor Rose. It's worth the drive! (Provided you have your own transport, of course).

Perhaps it was an off day. Very well could have been, but we'll not be returning.

(Also had a long wait for our table, even with ADRs).

I went in Dec. with DD and it was a wonderful experience. I really enjoyed it a lot and DD (7) enjoyed it too. I ordered the Grand Tea and wasn't disappointed, DD ordered Mrs. Potts (w/chocolate milk) I wish I knew how to post pics because I took some good ones there and the tea I ordered (Eros) I liked so much I bought some to take home. DH and DS didn't want to go but I'm really glad DD and I went because I too went back and forth, should we?, shouldn't we?, is it worth it? etc.....

It was such a nice experience with my daughter I'm going back next trip for sure.

I've been twice, with my husband, teenage son and daughter and we really enjoyed it!
Previous poster must have had a off day.
We'd do it again. In fact, my husband and I did do it again last October!
Order champagne, too. Makes it much more festive and decadent.
