A New Favorite CS & Meeting the Mouse

After a fantastic first day in the MK at Disney, Chris and I were hopeful for another wonderful day. We woke up nice and early and headed to the food court to use some of our snack credits for breakfast. One of the items that we got were some beignets. They were very good, but definitely no Cafe' Du Monde (New Orleans). The beignets we had in New Orleans were definitely the best we've ever had, but these were a close second! :thumbsup2

Shortly after eating, we headed to the buses and made it to Hollywood Studios just before the gates were opened...yes, another rope drop! :woohoo: Our first order of business was to join the masses in grabbing FPs for Toy Story Mania. Being there so early, I was actually quite shocked at how long the FP line was...I can't even imagine it later in the day! We scored FPs with a return time of 11:10 and then set off for my favorite, the Tower of Terror.

We were shocked to find that the line for ToT was quite a bit shorter than the FP line for TSM. We buzzed through the line in no time at all...then we experienced a fantastic drop sequence...LOTS of falls! Plus, Chris and I loved the new elements of the ride...the photos during the ride were pretty funny! Here we are after our fun ride!!!

After our "terrifying" elevator experience, we headed over to see Beauty and the Beast...another one of my favorites! :goodvibes I just LOVE this show...it is so well done! Here are a few of the pictures that I took...I thought they turned out pretty well for the seats that we had...I think we were somewhere in the middle of the theater!

Leaving the show, we decided to browse a few shops on Sunset Blvd. There were a few purposes for this...to wait out our FP time, check out the merchandise, but most importantly...to cool off! Today was a scorcher!

Just before 11:10, we headed over to Rock 'N Roller Coaster to get FPs. We scored passes for 3:10 p.m. :yay:

Next up, we visited our new favorite CS in Hollywood Studios...Starring Rolls Cafe.

Chris and I both had a turkey sandwich and chips. I had a banana split for dessert and Chris had a marble cupcake.

WOW this meal was good! The portions were huge and so tasty! I can't believe we had never tried Starring Rolls before this trip. We will definitely be back! :thumbsup2

After lunch, we made our way over to Toy Story Mania.

We were SO EXCITED to ride this for the first time! Chris did come away with the win, but didn't feel as great about beating me on this ride (No victory dance like on Buzz!) because my "shooter" wasn't working properly. It would work for a few launches and then it wouldn't work at all...it was a little frustrating! :headache: I still had a great time, but I wish I would have gotten the "full" experience. With the FPs already gone for the day and the super long wait times, I knew this would be my only time to ride TSM this trip. Oh well...there's always next time!

Next up, we stopped at One Man's Dream.
DSC_0287.jpg

I have been in this attraction so many times and seen the video numerous times and I never tire of it! I always get a little teary-eyed hearing Walt's story.

Before we left to come on our trip, we told our nephew, Eli, that we would try to meet some very special people and bring him some pictures. Eli is only 2 years old, but is obsessed with Mickey (Mic Mouse as he calls him) and Lightning McQueen (Keen to Eli). So we set off to find the Mouse! Chris and I found Sorcerer Mickey in the Animation Academy and we managed to get one of the special pictures for our nephew!

Our morning was off to a great start, but there was still so much more to come! :)

Up Next: Future Animators, Mission Accomplished & Fantasmic!

It looks like you had a good morning! Those beignets look so good. I'm afraid I'd have those all the time if I stayed at POFQ! I also can't believe how quickly the TSM fastpass line gets super long. But on a good note, it definitely opens up the lines at other rides :thumbsup2

What a fun day at DHS! Tower of Terror, One Man's Dream, and TSM are all family favorites at our house. I get pretty weepy, too, watching the video in One Man's Dream! :goodvibes Your lunch at Starring Rolls looks very tasty -- we will have to remember that -- we have only ever gotten desserts there. Hurray for meeting Sorcerer Mickey! Very cute photo of the three of you!

Great update! I haven't been able to find a beignet that is better than Cafe du Monde! Makes me not want to eat one unless I am in New Orleans. Sounds like if I want to do Toy Story Mania I am going to have to get to the park early to get a FP. We were fortunate this ride opened up in DL months before we did our Adventures by Disney trip out there. We loved that ride so much that I bought the game for my Wii. I guess when we will be down there One Man's Dream will closed. I am very bummed about that since I really enjoy going through that mini museum. Can't read the next installment!

Nice start to your day! I'm sorry your shooter didn't work on TSM  I guess you'll just have to ride it again - good reason to go back! ;)

Your pic of Chris with Walt looks almost real! Great pic with Mic!:goodvibes

I think Jared ate his weight in those beignets when we stayed at FQ, to say he loved them would definitely be an understatement!

Your sandwich from Starring Rolls looks so good, I wanted to give it a try on our last trip, but missed out on it - it's moving to the top of the CS "to try" list now :thumbsup2

What a bummer that your shooter wasn't working on TSMM :sad2:

Very cute pic with Mickey :goodvibes

Love beignets but don't love powdered sugar all over me while eating them. :teeth:
Good job on another rope drop:thumbsup2
Love the ToT after pic.....too cute!
Starring rolls sammies look good. You said you had a banana split....all I saw was cupcake looking things.....:confused3
Great start to the day!

Those beignets looked really good but I do agree Cafe'du Monde is amazing. Makes me want to go back. With all the times we've been to Disney World, I have yet to go on Tower of Terror. Some day I will build up the courage to go on it. My husband and kids love it. Great pictures of the Beauty and the Beast show.

off topic----I love your shoes. Info please? Thanks.

That sandwich looks HUGE...I think that is actually a meal I could convince DBF to share with me :rotfl:

The picture of you guys with Mickey came out great!! I am so sad One mans dream will actually be closed when we are down there later this month

I too absolutely LOVE One Man's Dream!!! :goodvibes And, of course, it always, always gets me choked up at the end. I've never been to Starring Rolls, but it sounds like I'll need to add that to my list too! :lmao: That sandwich looked sooo good!

Aww, sorry your TSMM experience wasn't 100%! You should have let the CM know, though! My DBF's gun was broken half the time on Buzz and as we were exiting, we let the CM know-- we just didn't want a little kid to get that gun and be disappointed. He said thanks and told us we could ride again. We protested, but he insisted, so we boarded again (I think at the GAC entrance). It was very nice of him. I don't know if you would have had the same result as TSMM since it's so much more popular than Buzz, but definitely worth the shot!

After our "terrifying" elevator experience, we headed over to see Beauty and the Beast...another one of my favorites! :goodvibes I just LOVE this show...it is so well done!

I wish there were more shows like this. I want to keep Nemo and Lion King and Beauty and the Beast and add even more. :thumbsup2

Enjoyed the trip through Hollywood this morning. Thanks for the pictures. :)

I also fell in love with the beignets at Cafe' Du Monde. I first had them during my sisters/mom trip last year to New Orleans and still tell DH how amazing they are:goodvibes. I keep telling him we have to get some at WDW so he can try some for the 1st time....yum!!

I love your TOT pic! Very cute.

Starring Rolls looks amazing. I had seen pics of the sandwiches in another report and these pics confirm my decision that I must go there!

Oh my gracious! Your fireworks pictures are absolutely beautiful! Why oh why can't my pictures look half as good as your's?

My DS and I ate at Starring Roles last summer - loved the turkey sandwich, although teenage DS doesn't like alot of "stuff" on his sandwiches (lettuce, tomato, anything that looks like a veggie:laughing:); but he had an enormous cupcake for dessert, something like a butterfinger cupcake that even he had trouble finishing! I had a key lime tart that was delicious - I think they are one of the best values for a CS meal in Disney!

So glad I found your trip report!! My DH and I are also avid travelers and, in fact, we leave for Orlando day after tomorrow. Cannot wait to read more!

It looks like you had a good morning!
Our morning was fantastic! :goodvibes

Those beignets look so good. I'm afraid I'd have those all the time if I stayed at POFQ!
They were really good!

I also can't believe how quickly the TSM fastpass line gets super long. But on a good note, it definitely opens up the lines at other rides :thumbsup2
I was SHOCKED at how fast the line got really long...we were there at rope drop and it was still unbelievable! But, I will agree that it did free up the other lines! :thumbsup2

What a fun day at DHS! Tower of Terror, One Man's Dream, and TSM are all family favorites at our house.
It really was a fun day! I love so many of the rides/attractions at DHS, but ToT is my absolute favorite...I could ride it over and over! Chris...not so much! It's a once a day ride for him!

I get pretty weepy, too, watching the video in One Man's Dream! :goodvibes
It's such a good film!!!

Your lunch at Starring Rolls looks very tasty -- we will have to remember that -- we have only ever gotten desserts there.
The sandwich was very good, but the desserts were UNBELIEVABLE! I would definitely recommend SR...I feel like it's one of the better CS restaurants! :thumbsup2

Hurray for meeting Sorcerer Mickey! Very cute photo of the three of you!
Thanks, Jackie! :flower3:

Great update! I haven't been able to find a beignet that is better than Cafe du Monde! Makes me not want to eat one unless I am in New Orleans.
Thanks, Andrea! I completely agree...the beignets at the FQ were good, but no Cafe' du Monde! ;)

Sounds like if I want to do Toy Story Mania I am going to have to get to the park early to get a FP. We were fortunate this ride opened up in DL months before we did our Adventures by Disney trip out there. We loved that ride so much that I bought the game for my Wii.
YES...you will definitely have to get there early...the FPs were gone by 11:00 a.m. on the day we visited DHS. The line we saw for getting a FP was longer than any ride wait time that we experienced on our trip! :scared1: I SO want to take an Adventures by Disney trip! Did you enjoy it? I bet the Wii game is fun!!!

I guess when we will be down there One Man's Dream will closed. I am very bummed about that since I really enjoy going through that mini museum. Can't read the next installment!
Awwww....sorry it won't be open on your trip...I understand your disappointment because I know how I enjoy walking through the museum too. Well...that will have to be a "next time!" :thumbsup2

Nice start to your day! I'm sorry your shooter didn't work on TSM  I guess you'll just have to ride it again - good reason to go back! ;)
Thanks, Tammie! :goodvibes I was a little bummed that I didn't have the "full experience," but I know I'll eventually have another chance! ;)

Your pic of Chris with Walt looks almost real! Great pic with Mic!:goodvibes
Thanks so much! :flower3:

I think Jared ate his weight in those beignets when we stayed at FQ, to say he loved them would definitely be an understatement!
LOL! Chris may have given Jared a run for his money! He got them several times too!

Your sandwich from Starring Rolls looks so good, I wanted to give it a try on our last trip, but missed out on it - it's moving to the top of the CS "to try" list now :thumbsup2
Definitely try it if you get a chance, Michelle. I would definitely say that it's one of the better CS choices! :thumbsup2

What a bummer that your shooter wasn't working on TSMM :sad2:
I know...I was a bit disappointed after being so excited to finally ride it!

Very cute pic with Mickey :goodvibes
Thanks! :flower3:

Love beignets but don't love powdered sugar all over me while eating them. :teeth:
LOL! I couldn't agree more!

Good job on another rope drop:thumbsup2
Thanks...we kind of jumped on board after having such great luck at the MK!

Love the ToT after pic.....too cute!
Thanks, Melanie!:flower3:

Starring rolls sammies look good. You said you had a banana split....all I saw was cupcake looking things.....:confused3
The sandwiches were really good!!! If you look at the picture, my dessert was the one on the back left. It wasn't an actual banana split even though that was the name of it...it was more of a pudding/custard dessert with a pie type crust on the bottom, that had a banana flavor...it really was different, but good. The CM behind the counter recommended it, saying it was her favorite, so I tried it! :thumbsup2

Great start to the day!
Thank you!

Those beignets looked really good but I do agree Cafe'du Monde is amazing. Makes me want to go back.
They were really good, but definitely no Cafe' du Monde...I don't think "anything" can beat out the real deal! ;) I would love to go back too...we happened to visit New Orleans exactly 6 weeks before Katrina hit! :scared1:

With all the times we've been to Disney World, I have yet to go on Tower of Terror. Some day I will build up the courage to go on it. My husband and kids love it.
Go for it, Cheryl! It seems a lot worse than it really is! :thumbsup2 I LOVE ToT...it is themed so well!

Great pictures of the Beauty and the Beast show.
Thanks so much! :flower3:

off topic----I love your shoes. Info please? Thanks.
Thank you! Oh goodness...my shoes have their own little story. I am very much a "flip flops" girl. But Chris is always pushing me to get something more comfy and supportive for my feet...especially while in the parks, with so much time on the feet. I finally gave in and we checked out a few of the outdoorsy sports stores around our area. That is when we discovered KEENS. OH MY GOSH...SO COMFORTABLE! I wore them in the parks and my feet didn't get sore at all! No blisters...no break in time...it was great! Plus, I even used them for some of our lighter hiking in the Smokies. The KEENS were a little pricier than some sandals, but definitely worth it. :thumbsup2

That sandwich looks HUGE...I think that is actually a meal I could convince DBF to share with me :rotfl:
Shannon...it was huge and definitely something that you could share! I DIDN'T finish mine...Chris happily jumped in to finish my meal!

The picture of you guys with Mickey came out great!!
Awww...thanks! :flower3:

I am so sad One mans dream will actually be closed when we are down there later this month
Sorry that you won't be able to see One Man's Dream later this month...but, at least you'll be in Disney! :woohoo:

I too absolutely LOVE One Man's Dream!!! :goodvibes And, of course, it always, always gets me choked up at the end.
I know the feeling, Tracy! As I'm watching it, I always "think" that I'm going to be stronger at the end since I've seen it so many times....but, I guess that just doesn't matter!

I've never been to Starring Rolls, but it sounds like I'll need to add that to my list too! :lmao: That sandwich looked sooo good!
Definitely add it to your list! I think it's one of the better CS restaurants in the parks...it was very good! :thumbsup2

Aww, sorry your TSMM experience wasn't 100%!
Thanks...I know I'll have a chance to experience it again in the future, but I just had such high expectations for the ride...I definitely was bummed!

Wow...I really didn't even think about doing that Kylie. I think I was so disappointed when we got off, that I wasn't thinking straight! :confused3 That's very cool that you and your DBF got to ride Buzz again! :goodvibes

I wish there were more shows like this. I want to keep Nemo and Lion King and Beauty and the Beast and add even more. :thumbsup2
I completely agree with you, MeMom! Chris and I even used to enjoy the old Tarzan show! :goodvibes

Enjoyed the trip through Hollywood this morning. Thanks for the pictures. :)
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed the trip! ;)

I also fell in love with the beignets at Cafe' Du Monde. I first had them during my sisters/mom trip last year to New Orleans and still tell DH how amazing they are:goodvibes. I keep telling him we have to get some at WDW so he can try some for the 1st time....yum!!
They really are good at the FQ, but no Cafe' du Monde! We still talk about the ones from New Orleans and it's been about 5 years since we last visited!

I love your TOT pic! Very cute.
Thanks, Amanda! :flower3:

Starring Rolls looks amazing. I had seen pics of the sandwiches in another report and these pics confirm my decision that I must go there!
I would definitely say that it's one of the better CS restaurants...we were so happy with our meal there! :thumbsup2

Oh my gracious! Your fireworks pictures are absolutely beautiful! Why oh why can't my pictures look half as good as your's?
Awww, thanks! :flower3: I bet your pictures are beautiful too! :goodvibes

I had a key lime tart that was delicious -
Thanks so much for joining in! :yay: We loved our meal there too...no complaints here! Everything was so great! The cupcakes were unbelievable and HUGE...that's what Chris had too! I couldn't get over the size of them!

I think they are one of the best values for a CS meal in Disney!
I couldn't agree more!!! :thumbsup2 We will definitely be back!

So glad I found your trip report!!
Thanks! I'm so glad you joined in! :woohoo:

My DH and I are also avid travelers and, in fact, we leave for Orlando day after tomorrow.
VERY COOL! Hope you have a MAGICAL trip! :wizard:

Cannot wait to read more!
Hopefully I will have the next installment up this weekend! :goodvibes

Great trip report!
Thanks so much! :goodvibes Glad you're enjoying it!

Your pics of the Fireworks are amazing!
Awww...thanks! :flower3:
